Storage Unit reviews in Studio City

    Elite Moving & Storage Inc
This was my first time using a moving company and I was overwhelmed by all the companies wanting my business. I chose Elite Moving & storage because I had a good chemistry with Donna from headquarters and mainly based on their positive reviews. It was pretty easy to schedule and to arrange the moving date/time with Donna. Donna arranged everything and she kept informing me about the moving. The actual movers that pickup and delivery all my items, were friendly and polite, hardworking and careful with my belongings. They did a good job and I would use them again.

I'm telling you, if you're considering this company, keep looking. Don't do it. Just move along. I chose them over another, smaller moving company that I'd worked with before because I thought they'd be more adept at dealing with the complexity of the move I described above. I couldn't regret the decision more. (BTW, I can recommend that moving company to you if you contact me.) The initial pack-up went OK, mostly, but then at the end, after they'd already left, I discovered that they'd left several large, heavy items in the house, even though they'd seen them and I asked if they'd gotten everything in that area. They just wanted to leave. My sister and I were left to deal with those items that night, with our small cars, in the rain, as we were closing escrow the next day. Then when I called to schedule the delivery of the first group of items, the office staff was very disorganized. It was exceedingly difficult to get a hold of someone. One time when I called, they said they were busy, and they told me they'd call me right back, and then never did. When I called again to follow up, the person told me "this is a bad time to call, and I can't really do that." (If it's a bad time, why'd you pick up the phone? Have voicemail if you can't handle the calls. But if you're going to answer, then you should be able to help me.) That time, I left a VM for the person who was supposed to help me, and it took him FIVE days to call me back. In the mean time, of course, I had called back and scheduled my delivery (I had to be on hold for a long time to do that.) I confirmed the arrival time twice, but the movers still showed up early, and, as I'd said would be the case, I wasn't home yet. It was stressful for me to start in with them right when I got home. All of this wasn't even the worst part. They mislabeled an ENTIRE room--a fully stocked kitchen, no less--that was supposed to be in the second delivery group, to go to my sister's house. I very politely informed them of this, and asked that those boxes be returned to storage, and the foreman acted like I was trying to pull one over on him. He essentially accused me of lying, saying that he remembered that my sister and I had both told him that the kitchen stuff was to go to my sister. Not only was it not true, but in fact, my sister and I had literally physically divided up the items we wanted into different rooms of the house so as reduce the confusion. We both told them several times how to label everything, especially the kitchen. They just messed up. It's not that I mind the mistake, but the foreman gave me so much grief about it, and acted like I was being dishonest. He also acted like it's really uncustomary to take boxes back to storage. He tried to talk me into just taking and storing 30 extra boxes in a house I'd just moved into, and it was stuff that I didn't even need, and would've been incredibly difficult for me to transport to my sister's place with my small car once she is ready for it. I think he thought if he complained enough, I'd give in. He implied that I was basically lying to cover up that I had really just changed my mind about the items and wanted them sent back to storage. (Which, even if that were the case, I think would've been reasonable since they are a MOVING and STORAGE company, but I wouldn't have lied about it.) He brought up the idea that he was sure he remembered that I told him that the boxes were to be delivered to my house THREE different times, as if once weren't enough. This was after my sister and I had been very respectful and generous with them--we spoke to them kindly, we asked them where they wanted lunch from and brought it to the house for them, we gave them literally upwards of $10K worth of furniture/home items which we could have sold for free, and we tipped them nicely. I couldn't believe that after all that, the foreman wouldn't just acknowledge their mistake and fix it without complaint. I dread having to deal with them to get the other two groups of storage items delivered. I will never use them again after this, and I would never recommend them to my worst enemy. Please, for your own good, use another company.

    PUBLIC STORAGE
Their facility is immaculate and clean. They have covered parking areas for more convenient loading and unloading. The woman that works there gave me a discount for the first month that I stored my things there. It has a light inside the storage unit.

    EXTRA SPACE STORAGE
The management is wonderful. The facility itself is excellent. The only problem I ran into is that the cost per month was extremely high. It is very clean there and easy to access. The 2 guys that worked in the office were very helpful. They tried to get me a lower rate. It was very close to my apartment. If it wasn't for the price I would use them again.
