    Clif Jones Painting Company
We had an overall great experience hiring Clif Jones to patch and paint the exterior of our home. The crew lead by Jose is quite thorough and I would recommend them to others. Clif was a pleasure to deal with and made painting our home fairly stress-free.

    Nexxus Remodeling Inc
We initially interviewed 7 prospective contractors and obtained 4 bids before deciding on Nexxus. The owner's (Tony Panterra) pitch was that although his bid would probably be higher than the other contractor's, his work was of a higher quality and that he used only the best products. Nexxus, however, did not provide a written estimate, which raised a red flag. However, we ultimately decided to go with Nexxus because it had numerous and uniformly excellent reviews on Angies List from consumers who actually used Nexxus' services (Nexxus did receive negative reviews from persons who thought its bids were too high). The other contractors we considered had a few positive reviews, but nothing close to the long history of strong reviews that Nexxus had. Moreover, although Nexxus' bid was higher than the other contractors, it was not excessively so. More importantly the work was, for the most part, excellent. In particular, the installation of the wood siding was impeccable. Ipe is a notoriously hard wood and difficult to work with. But the corners were sharp and straight with little or no gaps. The iron gates also turned out well although some of the solder joints could have been a little cleaner. Tony, the owner, was very responsive to any changes or requests we made during the course of the project and was on-site at least 1-2 per week to check on the progress of the job. Francisco, the project manager, was present almost every day and made sure we were aware of how the job was proceeding and sought our input on various aspects of the job and made sure we were satisfied before he proceeded with the work. Tony estimated the job would take approximately 4 weeks and he would have been right on target but for several days of rain that halted work. All in all, we were very satisfied with Nexxus' work, would use them again, and would highly recommend them to anyone interested in remodeling their house.

    Bellotti Painting
This was the 2nd time we hired Mike Bellotti and we were just as pleased with his work as the 1st time.  His prices are fair and he and his employees are professional, friendly, and very helpful.  They were at our house for 6 days and everyday they were there when they said they would be.  They were courteous and always left for the day with everything neatly put away in a safe place.  They were helpful in helping pick colors and testing out a few when we were being super picky clients!  I also like that when Mike is giving his quote for the job you can tell that he is willing to work with your budget and not oversell you.  The wood siding on our house was neatly sanded and patched where needed.  They take pride in their work and never seemed like they were in a rush to get it done and move on to the next job.  We are very happy with the results and will definitely hire them again in the future!

Tito Alcaraz Painting & Repair Specialist
We expected the work to take two full days, but the contractor was able to complete almost all of it in one long day, retuning the next day only for a final paint coat.  He worked efficiently and professionally.  We are very pleased with the work.

    EYE 4 DESIGN
We lived with a backwards-facing garage for 15 years before mustering the funds and gumption to do something about it. Nick and his crew made our dreams a reality: we can now drive straight into our garage from the street. And it?s gorgeous!
Nick took a little longer to deliver his bid than competing contractors did. But in every possible way, he was worth the wait. Here are
some of the reasons we?ll be using Nick again:
    1. He showed an appreciation for and familiarity with older homes (ours was built in 1941), and had an aesthetic sensibility unmatched by his competitors. He lived up to his company name.
    2. He took the time to get it right, both structurally and aesthetically. He worked closely with our architect and garage door contractor. And when our pedestrian door was delivered with flaws, he encouraged us to return it. This threw off the schedule and probably inconvenienced him, but he prioritized our satisfaction and the success of the project.
    3. He was concerned for both his clients and his workers. I got the sense that he paid his people fairly and treated them well, and they respected him for it. I also felt that he hired people who were honest, friendly, and accessible. I ask a lot of questions, and as a woman, I don?t want to be dismissed, talked down to (or worse yet, ogled). These types of problems, experienced with workers from various other companies over the years, were never an issue with Nick and his crew--I always felt respected. He had great social skills?never made me feel wrong or dumb. And he responded swiftly to my many calls and emails?thanks!
    4. When there were hiccups in the process, I always felt that Nick was on our side, and the integrity of workmanship and customer satisfaction were of paramount importance to Nick. There were no showdowns, arguments, or drama: just people working together to find mutually satisfactory solutions.
    5. Jacob! Wow?what a terrific work ethic. If he had a dollar for every question he patiently answered, he?d be able to retire. Skilled painter and craftsman.
Overall, the experience was fantastic. We received more than our money?s worth: a beautiful garage and driveway. Thanks, Nick, we?ll be calling you again soon.

    Clif Jones Painting Company
All the A's deserve to have pluses..  Completed job was absolutely excellent. They did not have the lowest bid, but the posted reviews made me believe they would be worth it.  They were worth every penny.  They will definitely be painting the inside of the house in the future.  They were reliable from being on time for the first meeting to the clean up and touchup they did at the end.

    CMRS Construction
Great overall experience with this contractor.  I've dealt with many over the last 5 years as we do work on the house practically every year.  Never had such a comfortable experience from beginning to end as I did with CMRS.  Daryl, Liza and Gretchen were all very responsive and professional.

Daryl came out and gave me an estimate on several outdoor projects.  At this point we opted to do only the refurbishing (removing old, filling gaps, sanding, etc) and painting of the wood siding which covers the front only of our home as it was quite weathered.  A two man crew handled the project timely, just as they indicated.  Can't remember the painter's name but he was meticulous, attention to detail and it looked great when he finished.  Not a complex job, but done well.  Daryl also offered advice on regular maintenance to avoid it getting so bad in the future.

Again, great overall experience.  Couldn't have been more pleased as I have previously experienced the nightmare contractor with work done on our home in the past.

    Crown Remodeling Inc
We have lived in our Studio City house for 20 years, and during that time we have done many home improvement jobs ranging from the major to the minor.  Of all of the trades people we have worked with, Zevi and his crew at Crown Remodeling rank at the very top.  The job was to re-seal wood siding.  The original contractor had slapped on a coat of the wrong product using a roller, which left exposed sections of unfinished wood.  We had let the re-sealing job go undone too long, and the condition of the originally expensive siding had deteriorated.  In addition, our house is built into a hillside such that the front of the house is three stories up from the ground, so access isn't easy.

I appreciated receiving a formal, professional estimate and account statements after each payment:  sometimes people don't want to bother with that.  To me, it communicates a certain level of professionalism, and ensures that everyone is in agreement.  Once the work started, the crew (Steve and Elmer) were friendly, careful, professional and neat.  Over the course of the two-week job, Zevi came by every day, and he and his crew would discuss the challenges of the job, how best to do certain aspects of it, what products would help restore the original condition of the wood.  They paid close attention to the quality of the work at every stage, where so many other people we have worked with just wanted to finish the job to minimum standards and move on.  As a result, our house is now beautiful again. They stuck to the budget and the schedule, and cleaned up each night.  At the end of the job, they even washed the windows and carefully replaced screens, mats and fixtures that had been moved during the course of the work.

We think Zevi and his crew are gems, and we have every intention of using them again when we need work done on the house.

    S & S Roofing
Steve provided a great deal of consulting time, both in person, on the phone, and by email, as we worked out choosing the siding and how to trim it; the roof was pretty straightforward, but the siding provided numerous challenges. Once the work was underway the work proceeded steadily, and took a over a week (as mentioned, the siding presented endless challenges because in finding it necessary to pull off the old stuff new ways of attaching the siding had to sometimes be invented on the spot). With the roofing there were never really any issues that I needed to resolve, but I am glad I was able to be around for most of the siding work, because there were many aesthetic questions that I had to decide. Be aware that Steve is in high demand; three months went by between my formally engaging him and when he was actually available with his crew to start work.

    Nexxus Remodeling Inc
When Tony came out to give me an estimate, he explained the costs for each phase of the job. He gave me a range of costs for each phase, painting for example, so that I could get the best job for my budget. The estimate was reasonable and the work began the following day. Throughout the entire job, Tony explained each phase of the work thoroughly. He was here on site most days or always accessible by phone. I was always informed what time the different crews would arrive and they were always on time. All of Tony's crews did excellent professional work. Carlos and his crew of painters were able to accommodate my crazy schedule, Francisco, the carpenter, found a source of siding which matched the boards that had to be replaced. Inon Ozeri, the electrician, worked at the house several days and on the hottest day of the year had to work in the attic. The man who installed the patio cover worked from 7:30am to 3:30pm also on the hottest day of the year and did a thorough professional job. I got 3 unsolicited comments after the work was done regarding the roof, the paint job and the concrete work from people who have had experience with these types of work. I am very pleased with the results. I will hire Nexxus again when I am ready to have the interior of the house redone.
