Green Works Construction & Design Inc
I was fortunate to find Green Works Construction & Design with a simple Google search. Their fantastic contractor, David Stein, met with me and we covered every aspect of the project. He was very honest and upfront about time-frame, cost, and the requirements of the job, including potential pitfalls given the age of my property. I shopped around a bit and settled on David and Green Works. The end result was far beyond what I'd hoped. The project was to convert my garage at my Studio City home (original structure built in 1926) into a legal, modern ADU (accessory dwelling unit). My intention was to create a studio apartment with a full kitchen, bathroom, and living space that could be rented out. I already had the plans ready to go, but David made some suggestions that vastly improved the original concept. Once the work started I was continuously amazed by the speed and professionalism demonstrated by the work crews led by their incredible foreman Jose Elias, who, like David, always made himself available to me and walked me through every step of the process. My concerns were his concerns. Because of the age of the building, the City inspectors called for some work that hadn't been planned or budgeted for, and they got the work done at the lowest cost possible to me. I consider myself lucky to have worked with David and Jose and highly recommend them to anyone considering any sort of construction or upgrade.

    Sky Renovation
This company is Prime Home Remodeling dba as Sky Renovation and New Construction. Don't be fooled by the smiles and assuming good customer service....in the end, you will find out that this company; Owner Ian Levy, is rude with bully tendencies. They DO NOT provide a worksite foreman and only partially manage the work being done. I had to act as the foreman of my own project at almost $100,000....WHY!!! For that money, he should have had a site foreman daily and attention to the quality of the work being done. Instead every day I came home from work, sometimes during the day, I had to have mistakes and poor workmanship corrected. His workers smoke and throw cigarette butts around the property and often shortcut details. Make sure to take pictures of everything and every part of your project before you let them start any work because when you find something wrong, broken or unfinished your response will be, "Not my problem", "What do you want me to do", "it will cost you more money", "it was that way already". First Red Flag that I ignored because Ian came across as trustworthy was he offered a bid for the interior project solely based on what I wanted to be done and his visual oversight without inspection. He never looked at the existing wiring, only looked at the roof from the ground, didn't check subfloor conditions, didn't check for potential issues and only waited to find them before complaining about the extra cost to him to fix. Demanded final payment with threats of liens and lawyers before even checking to ensure the permits were finalized by the city. So if you want smiles, lies and unskilled workers that you could find at Home Depot working on your property, go ahead and hire them. I'm still scared my roof could come crashing down, the house to catch fire from the wiring work they did and now my central air heater has a disconnected air tube I have to have someone come and fix. I have exposed nails now rusted hanging down below the eaves around the garage and house from the roofing job which Ian told me, "What do you want me to do", "Stop being cheap and fix your house and cover the eaves". Now I have lots of headaches to deal with to make the repairs due to poor workmanship. The sub-contracted roof installers damaged the attic insulation following the roof demolish; now which has to be completely replaced along with central heating ducts that were damaged. Waiting for State Contractors Board to finish their assessment of my complaint and the BBB shows an "F" rating for Sky Renovation & New Construction. Also waiting for their Bond company to finish their investigation into my claim for damages as documented in photos, text messages, emails, and contracts. Complete nightmare. Following this review post the company owner EYAL IAN LEVI sent me several insulting and harassing text messages....Also following this review: He sent his business partner; Tomas to my home to comfort me about my reviews and how it was costing them business attempting to get me to remove them.

Not only was Ron prompt in getting back to me, but showed up the very next day as promised! After so many false starts with flakey Contractors, it was nice to work with Ron, not only did he care about the project, he took pains to keep an eye on it, when I'm sure he had much bigger builds to attend to. He also was very patient with me, when I asked questions about the job. As promised, his men where hard working, neat and definitely cleaned up after themselves which as we all know is an easy promise not always kept. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Ron again, he's the best :^)

    Green Universe Inc.
I called Ozzie to do all the work at our new house because we knew we could trust him to do what he said and to do an excellent job at a fair price. We first selected Ozzie from a group of potential contractors we had vetted as being the most reliable based on the Better Business Bureau reports. This was before we had convenient more comprehensive resources like Angie's list. We started with a complete kitchen remodel with custom cabinets which was $60,000. After that first remodel we knew we had found a contractor we could trust. He did what he said, when he said and he did it right. Ozzie was always reachable by phone/text/email and he was responsive to any questions or concerns that we had. And if problems occurred (remodeling always has surprises) Ozzie saw to it that things were done right and didn't add a penny to our contract price. The only thing that cost more of course was when WE made changes. Over the next few years we ended up remodeling all the bathrooms, putting new wood floors, rewiring the entire house (it had very old cloth insulated wires), a new roof, adding a bathroom including walk in closets. So when we had to move somewhat unexpectedly from our old house we knew exactly who to call. So far almost all of the planned work inside our new house has been done. The last stage is building the guest house. The plans have been drawn up and are being certified by the architect/engineer. We will be getting the permits so we can begin soon. I can update how that goes, but honestly I've already had so much work done by Ozzie that there's no doubt it will all go well. I attached a few photos, but I never seem to take photos after the remodeling. I always take photos during the remodeling, but it's the after photos that show what a space becomes. I'm going to try to find the photos of our old house after remodel photos and upload those.

    Hi-Tech Builders Inc
The list of things we did to our home is really endless. I saw a coupon deal on Angie's List a while ago for $4,999 for custom granite counter tops up to a certain size from this company, so I called, made my appointment with a nice lady on the phone, and after meeting with David, I was happy with the company. They had great reviews online so I signed with them that day.
I basically gutted out my entire kitchen to remodel it with Hi-Tech, added an extra bedroom (including all my permits and blueprints), had all the carpet ripped up and replaced with recycled hardwood flooring, completely remodeled our master bathroom with marble counter tops and new tile flooring, a new custom entertainment center in the living room with a built in sound system, LED lighting throughout, new doors, I mean we did it ALL!
What I really liked about the company is that they did everything they promised. If something went wrong, they were quick to fix it. We had Krisitina calling us every day to let us know what was going on. David was around to check on the progress and he had an assistant named Dave who also was very attentive to our projects. The thing I was impressed with most at the end of the day was how nice our bedroom addition turned out. It matches the rest of our home, they matched the ceiling level perfectly, and they did a very professional job on all the finishes.
    Highly recommend.

    WJM Construction
We were referred to WJM by a friend who had had them do some work at her home.  I contacted WJM and Bill McGraw came out to assess the project.  It involved removing existing steps made from (now rotted) railroad ties, landscaping a path and then building concrete steps from the street level to our elevated decks at the back of the house.  Bill took some pictures and measurements and after some deliberation and comparisons we chose him for the work.  Short story:  He showed up when promised, did the work on time and on budget (I think he actually came in about $100 less than bid) with minimal disruption, and created a terrific addition to the house that will last a long time.  He even mixed in some Mexican beach stones to match the appearance of some earlier steps we had built much earlier lower down on the hillside.

Since then he's actually helped us with some additional home repairs and has referred us to equally skilled contractors in other trades.

Bill is professional, helpful and always very professional.

    PM Construction
From inception to completion everything went very smoothly. Attention to detail was outstanding. Peter and everyone he hired were always polite, courteous and genuinely interested in doing the best job possible. Framing, insulation, electric (new wiring, lighting of various kinds, new circuits), new fireplace, wainscoting, multi-colored paint scheme, new doors, cork floor, steps going into the house from the garage, and converting a small room adjacent to the garage into a walk-in closet were all done impeccably. The room is truly a pleasure to just sit in and enjoy the vibe. It's that nice.

My experience with them was good, can't complain. I am a very picky person so they were super patient and were ok with me coming along with them on getting my material. I also liked the fact that they did not once complain about me changing my mind about certain little things i wanted in my bath and guest room. I want to thank Michael and the crew for completing my small addition. My brother comes constantly and is comfortable with the room he has to stay in. Thanks for taking your time and making me happy!

    Supreme Remodeling Inc
Me and my wife had been saving money waiting for a house to go up for sale in North Hollywood (we had been targeting the area for a while but everything the realtor showed us wasn't up to snuff). We finally found a place right where we wanted but the house was in bad disrepair. After getting a few ideas on what it would cost to tear down what was there and build our dream home we decided to purchase the property. The first company that came out gave us a price of a little over $900,000 which seemed OK. Luckily my wife decided to check out a few other places and we ended up contacting Supreme. We met with Patrick (who is not only an amazing project manager but also one of the owners of the company) after explaining a few things he brought our cost down to $826,000 which needless to say made our eyes widen a little bit. After meeting with yet another 3 companies we still found Patrick to be the lowest and most experienced we'd talked to.

So we moved forward with the project it started in November of 2014 and should be finishing up next month (May 2015). We have been extremely happy with the speed and quality of the work being done. I was a little cautious due to the price difference since it was so much but so far the work has been going great, no delays and no surprise costs which was my biggest worry.

I check in with Patrick or his office daily and they are always super nice and helpful with letting me know whats going on with my project.
I can't wait to see what the final product looks like. I will keep you guys posted.

    Innovation Design And Construction Inc.
I've been looking to install new floors for awhile now, but didn't feel comfortable with a company working on my home until one of my friends recommended Innovation Design And Construction Inc. Nick, the manager, quoted me a free estimate and got to work right away. I was blown away with how professional the whole experience was. They installed my beautiful new hardwood floors in no time at all, kept me up to date through the process, and cleaned up after themselves. I was so surprised that they got done so quickly! I've had experiences with other contractors that didn't go half as well as with Innovation. I recommend them to anyone who is looking to remodel their home!
