    SOD Builders
Luxcess Home by SOD Builders did a few remodeling jobs that were combines into 1 large remodeling project for us and we are very proud with the work they did. The remodeling project ended up with a complete remodeling of the main first floor of our house (kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, bedroom, entry, living room etc.). The project required a lot of attention to all the details because it contained also the removal of a wall in the kitchen that gave us an open space and at the same time enlarged the overall space of the kitchen. The kitchen cabinets were all custom made and with all the new appliances... The new kitchen is no less than a gorgeous one! The project was on a daily basis and each day all the workers were at our house from morning to evening while supervised by Gal. we are very proud at our new house and we highly recommend them for any remodeling project.

I can't give Josiah a high enough rating. He is extremely knowledgeable. He is probably the most knowledgeable person I've come across in decades.

I needed a door installed on my laundry room to the outside. It had to be completely re-framed. He picked up the door for us. They had to remove termite damage and re-frame it. It took a full day. They didn't waste any time. They got here, were on the ball, and getting exactly what he needed. He didn't waste a minute. They knew what they were doing. I am just so disappointed that he is leaving. It's nice that he's going to move with his family and everything. He learned from his uncle and another company he worked for.

I had a sill plate under the door that I tried to get numerous people to replace because I knew it was a job. He has been booked up since he is moving in May, but he worked me into his schedule after he finished early on another job. He called me and said he could come over. He and Rocky came over and worked on it. They got a beautiful piece of white oak and completely replaced that sill plate. He even went above and beyond that. My door has never been sealed properly in the 19 years we have lived in this house. He changed the stripping on the door. He changed the loading strips on the side of the door that we call "knuckle-busters", because every time you turn the doorknob, your knuckles kept hitting it. He changed the insulation strips. The door was lopsided and he fixed it so that no draft comes in anywhere around that door now. We have a beautiful sill plate and I am very happy with it.

Two appointments were required: one short appointment to assess the job at hand, then a second future appointment (a couple of weeks later) to complete the work. The workman completed the job with time to spare to fix a gutter and kitchen drawer for me. I was delighted that he was so open to help me with these little nuisance jobs that were hanging over my head. I would definitely hire this outfit again.

    Victor's Gardening

Too many things went wrong with this outfit.

1- gave me an estimate for $80 to put together a water fountain. I had given them the dimensions and number of pieces and specifically stated that leveling is important for the water to flow properly from one level to the next. When they arrived to assemble the fountain they changed their estimate to $400.00.

2- after I accepted the change in cost, two workers came and put together the fountain.

3- when I cam home in the evening, I saw that they used little metal shims to level it, which made the fountain unstable.

4-- they came back and set the pieces with some adhesive, and ran turned the power on.

The fountain was so crooked that by the time I got home it had emptied of water and had the motor running dry.

5- Called again and described the situation. They said that it is too far for them to come back and as far as they are concerned they finished the job.

6- I informed them that I'll be hiring someone else to level out the fountain and I'll deduct their fee off of their $400.

7- They said they'll come back and re-level it.

8- Came home and the fountain was disassembled to the many pieces and was put back on the lawn the way it was when they started, with no explanation.

9- I found out from the gardiner the next day that they got frustrated by not being able to level it and decided to disassemble it and walk away.

    Repairs & Remodels On Demand

I need the following items done:

    1.  Install a bolt lock - Drill hole in door and put in lock

    2.  Install venting above stove (nothing to cut, just install metal venting)

    3.  Fix some gutter areas that were sagging

    4.  Reframe wooden closet opening to specific size, just cutting and removing 2x4s, etc.

I told them "NO THANK YOU" and they left as the price they quoted was ridiculous.  About 20 mins. later, one of the men called me back and told me he could do the work for $35.00 an hour.

I have had the same issues with other Angies List vendors.  I had a plumber come out and tell me that the $55.00 price that I paid which was to cover $125.00 worth of work was just for the estimate, not any work itself.

I think that some of these "deals" need to be better clarified on what is actually offered.

1-3.  The closet is made of wood, the area would have been covered by me with sheets.  I needed the openings cut to the correct dimensions:  no trim needed, no drywall, no framing required , painting.. etc... Bifold closet doors, very easy to remove.

    4. Make hole in backyard door to install dead bolt lock

    5. Holes for venting already exist, just needed them to install the vent pieces that were already to be installed.

     6. Just needed gutters re-attached, 1 aluminum in a single corner, and 2 vinyl, no cleaning requested/required, no removal.

Your workers misinformed you of the tasks needed, nor did I appreciate the phone call to do the work for less afterwards.  It was performed by someone else within a 3 hr. period of time.

He had to demo some existing shelving, put up and tape dry wall, put together cabinets, mount cabinets to the wall, put a skip coat on the dry wall. I also agreed to have him donate old free-standing cabinetry that was being removed.
I thought he did a very good job.  I was pleased with the work.
However, I did have two complaints. The control box for my sprinkler system had to be removed and then replace after the drywall.  It was not wired correctly.  I did have to have someone I've used for sprinkler repair figure out the problem and fix the wiring.
The second item concerns large pieces of wood that had been stored in my garage.  I agreed to pay him to cut them up so I could put them in my wood-burning stove.  Most of it was given to a school garden project, one piece was taken by his worker.  I did receive about 10-12 pieces of cut up wood.
I gave him a B in Professionalism.  I think his work was very professional.  However, it was not professional to take the wood that should have been cut up and left for me.

He said he was also going to repair the drywall and when I told him that I had already given him $800 and I was not giving him $300 more, he walked out and I haven't seen since. He never came back and he never called to say anything about whether I was satisfied with the work or whether he needed to complete anything. He just didn't come back. He had an attitude and he would not let us know when he was leaving. He completed the tile work and I pointed out there were a few little holes in the tiles. And since they are in the shower, those holes needed to be patch up, because water will get into the walls behind the tile and eventually cause a problem. They are not huge holes, but they needed to be patched up. He said he will take care of that, but he didn't take care of it. Then he said he was going to do the drywall and he didn't do the drywall. He wanted more money for the drywall and I said no. So he just didn't come back after that. The price was high. The quality was actually good at what he did do.

He did a very good job.  He was very knowledgeable.  He cleaned up after he was finished.  He was also friendly and on time.  He also did a few other things without me asking him.

    David Foti Construction
Daves quality and professionalism are a rarity among general contractors. Everything was done on time and on budget. He camie out during the estimate phase and pointed out the most important items that needed attention, let me know what didn't need attention and gave me a very fair price. Work began the next week as promised and everything was completed to our satisfaction.
I would recommend David Foti Construction to anyone needing a General Contractor for all levels of work from handyman to total remodel.

We needed help removing an old chandelier and replacing it with a new one in our dining room. Our dining room ceiling is 14 ft high. Darrell was very responsive via email. He was prompt and efficient. He was in and out in 45 minutes. Overall, very happy with his service.
