Landscaping reviews in South San Francisco

Rob did a wonderful job renovating my garden. It was previously overgrown and he provided good suggestions that would conserve water while being low maintenance. Rob is well organized and communicated with me throughout the process when it came time to choose materials. With the creativity and enthusiasm he brings along with his work, I am very happy with the garden and recommend his services.

    Neftali Alfaro Gardening Service
After having gone through a couple of gardeners who either did the very minimal or ones that just didn't show up I was hopeful after reading the reviews here. I scheduled a visit and waited that morning wondering which it would be. I received a text shortly before the scheduled time indicating that he was going to need to reschedule to a few hours later. A text! Jackpot! This guy actually uses technology! So of course, a couple hours was perfectly fine. He arrived, we went through my expectations; explaining that we had a dog and he knew right off about the foxtails and said that he would take them off site and would clear everything out. We scheduled for the next week and while they arrived a bit late (<30m), again, he sent me a text telling me he was running a little behind. They got to work and started plowing through the roughage. He and his team were 'all up in those weeds'. I was seriously impressed as they were pulling out the foxtails on the incline and properly corralling them onto a cloth for disposal. His team put in some hard work clearing this area out. Afterwards, they redistributed the existing mulch and I could not be happier with the quality of work he and his team performed. I've already got him scheduled for regular lawn maintenance monthly.

    Rosa's Maintenance, Inc.
The start time was 8 AM - they were a little late, but understandable given traffic early in the morning coming up from San Jose.  It would have been nice to receive a call that they were running a little behind, but once they got there, they were apologetic and very courteous.  Weed wacked about 1/4 of the acre and they did a lot of low hanging cypress tree branch trimming and hauled it away for a reasonable price ($125.00) - it was a lot.  They got about half of what I would have liked to have done on the property, but they really would have needed more time for that as there was a lot to do; they stayed an additional half hour to clean up what they had started in the trees, which I appreciated.  Got two solid hours of work and it cleaned up very, very nicely.  Very pleased.

The owner was very professional, very efficient and knowledgeable.   We have not yet decided whether we will do all of the job at this time, but this company definitely would be at the top of the list.

    Wade Hammond Land Surveyor
I contacted Wade to see if he'd be able to come out and verify just two of the many corners of my property border. My land is a big lot that borders a good number of smaller lots that curve around it, so there are probably around 10 corners to the property. There was an enormous diseased tree within feet of what we thought was the property line, so, since we just bought the property a few months prior and didn't know about the tree, we wanted to make sure the tree was ours and the cost burden to remove it was ours. I will say that as a new homeowner, this is my first experience with pricing something like this so I did get quite a sticker shock. I wasn't able to get to the pricing stage with other surveyors I contacted because the first two I called were booked out for longer than I had available (I had a notice from the city with a deadline).
I thought that $1400 was definitely a lot for marking two spots, but needed to get it done. In a long-ago past life I had a summer job on a surveying crew for road construction, so I know a little bit about what goes into it and I wasn't expecting to pay that much. However, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt that it was in the ballpark of a going rate. At the time I was between a rock and hard place finding someone that had the availability, and now that it's said and done and paid I almost wouldn't want to know otherwise. I completely confess my ignorance in this regard.
As far as the execution of the work, no complaints at all. He was responsive to my initial inquiry, prompt in scheduling the work, filed records with the city in a timely manner, and gave me the information I was looking for. (The suspense must be killing you - so, yes, the tree was on my property. It was a bummer but I was totally prepared for that outcome, decided to do the survey because the peace of mind was worth it, knowing I wasn't paying thousands to remove the tree if it wasn't my obligation.)

    VALLE GARDENING & LANDSCAPING
Frank is very professional and is very knowledgable when it comes to landscaping and what will work in your yard.  As with many contractors I've worked with, he is juggling multiple jobs at the same time, so some dates may slide.  The yard now looks 100% better.  Frank also continues to answer questions about irrigation and the plants after he has completed the job.  He is very professional and passionate about his job and it is obvious he wants to make sure the customer is happy.

    Core Landscaping
John and his crew were quick, efficient and very professional. Over the course of a week the completely transformed our front yard area from the blight of the neighborhood to one of the focal pieces. We were excited each day to come home and see the progress. He worked with us to pick the various plants and trees that would attract the desired wildlife. Since the job was completed he has been back a few times to check on the plants to make sure they are taking hold (he replaced one that had a bad case of transplant shock), to adjust the watering and to teach us some gardening tips to keep the garden beautiful all year long.

He's fine and does a good job.  It was a onetime thing and he's supposed to call me back to do maintenance but he hasn't called me yet.  He's reasonable and good.  He came on time as we talked.
