  • John and his team of workers remodeled my kitchen and bar including the replacement of the entire floor around the house. The results of this remodeling are astonishingly gorgeous and the details of the work is great. John’s team of skilled people worked each day of the week and John was with them most of the days. John managed and supervised them to make sure they do a good job while the daily tasks were completed and that the details of the work is stay on high level. I strongly recommend him and all the people that were involved in my house remodeling for any home remodeling work. As part of the work, we asked him to also remove the pool cover and the pool area looks much nicer than before. The work that was done by them was finished in no other than ‘a perfect condition’. The kitchen, bar and the pool area are now updated and lovely. Thank you, John.

  • I choose Green-Planet to do my bathroom remodeling. We presented our plans to Sam Checkroun the day I called, He was very responsive to our calls and questions. This was not a typical bathroom remodeling we completely gutted the old bathroom and constructed everything according to the new plans and design. We received a great value for the work that was performed and wouldn't recommend any other general contractors than Green-Planet construction. They are friendly, professional, and dedicated to doing the best job.

  • The guy that showed up was quite friendly and personable, but definitely a salesman.  He was really trying to push what he had to offer.  Normally this is a good thing, but he was just a bit more pushy than I would have liked; again, however, very friendly.
The high level review is that you should not trust these guys.  While diamond certified and likely to do a quality job, the quotes I got were outrageous.  He kept telling me it was "because of the area" but provided no detail about what that meant.  The area is nice, but not 10 million dollar home nice by any means.  Pro tip, if that happens it means "I can charge you more because you'll likely pay it and not complain."  I thought the overall cost was a bit crazy so I asked, "what if I break it down by individual projec?"  Here are the more egregious quotes that he gave me with some detail:
Washer and dryer hookups: $10,000 - $12,000.  I had asked that he open up a wall which had existing water and drainage in them.  Gas piping was within four feet of the proposed location.  In reality, cutting into existing pipe and adding a Y joint is super easy and cheap.  In asking 4 different plumbers for this same work they quoted between $1500 and $2000 plus any permitting costs which typically run $150 - $300.
Exterior painting: $25,000.  I live in a 1,900 sqft home that is 2-levels.  The explanation I was given for this cost is that because it's a 2 story home, and therefore it costs a lot because of things like scaffolding.  I spoke with a couple of neighbors who got a pretty good job done with their exterior painting and their costs were between 3 and 5k.  They had their work done 2, 3, and 5 years ago.
Recessed lighting in the Living and Dining rooms: $15,000.  I had four other quotes and they all gave me roughly the same quote of about $250 - $300 per light installed.  With the 12 lights I wanted that should equate to no more than $3600.
Kitchen: $75,000.  This was double the next closest competitor.  The rationale was quality.  Because materials were not exactly specified, this may be the case, but I did my best to explain what I wanted and how I wanted it done.  The other quotes I got were close to each other and about half of this, but this one was WAY off.
If you have tons of money and don't care about it... then these will likely be your guys.  If you think you shouldn't be ripped off but still get a quality job, then AVOID THIS COMPANY.
The good news is that he offered me a discount if I signed the same day.  By law you get 3 days to cancel these types of contracts.  But don't fret, they come prepared with a waiver that lets you get bound immediately.
I thought of this after the fact, but if you want to throw them off, tell them to quote you an hourly rate per person they send over plus the cost of materials.  If they quote you $1,000 per hour like with what they probably did to me for the exterior painting, then you should probably find cheaper labor.

  • I interviewed a lot of contractors, Viktor included and ended up at first going with someone else. Within two weeks I had fired the first contractor and reached out to Viktor for a second look. I had originally not chosen him due to somewhat to a lower bid but mostly that the other contractor had promised connections to suppliers and design services. None of those materialized so I came back to Viktor and glad I did.
Viktor wanted to meet again to realign on the details and to update the estimate. He was very available, very flexible and worked around my availability always. He came over nights and weekends, whenever worked for me. It was refreshing.
I opted not to stay in my house during the remodel being that I only have one bathroom and it was being worked on and I have a small dog that normally has run of the house that I didn't want getting in the way. He didn't ask me to leave but it allowed his team to work off hours and even weekend when they wanted and get work done faster.
I live in a condo so I was worried that my neighbors would be disturbed but I checked in often and all of them said that Viktor and his team were very respectful, kept common areas clean and managed noise and mess very well. They kept as much of the mess as they could limited to the garage (construction is dusty but that's the nature of the work).
What I liked most about Viktor was that he was reasonable and worked with me when issues came up. For example, my floors were big porcelain tiles and once installed as I directed didn't lay even. I talked to the store that sold them to me and they recommended a different install design. Viktor tore up what had been installed so far and redid the floors to the new design, and he split the cost of replacement tiles with me. Another time I was sure someone had taken my vacuum. I couldn't find it. Nothing had gone missing so far so I was worried and let Viktor know. Without hesitation he said he would take care of it. He didn't know where it was but he didn't haggle about it. I found it later that night (behind a door in a spare room, I had missed it) and apologized for my mistake. He was great about it. No sweat he said.
I chose Argos because Viktor is the owner, I worked directly with him from the estimate to the day to day questions and communication, payments - all of it. Of course he had help and lots of trades worked here but I dealt with him for any questions or issues. I trusted him and he didn't let me down.
All in all, I've got a great new kitchen, beautiful work and an updated bathroom.

  • Rod is a professional and patient man of high integrity and keeps his word. There was a glitch with the first coat of paint and it was quickly acknowledged, corrected, and painted professionally and looks great. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied customers. We definitely are and would highly recommend him to anyone.

  • They did a really good job of painting our house.  I waited about 3 months before writing this review to see how the paint was  going to hold up.  Everything still looks great.  Daniel was great to work with and his workers did a really good job.  They did great prep work before painting.  Since we waited longer to paint our house than we should have there was a lot of peeling paint on the wood window frames.  We also had a side door on the garage that I was sure was beyond repair since all the paint had been peeling for years.  They removed all the peeling paint and now the door looks great.  Lastly, we had some wood fasade on the front of our house just below the roof line that was cracked.  They filled the cracks with putty and repainted the fasade with the two colors that we picked.  For paint, they applied two coats of Benjamin Moore paint.  The base coat/primer was elastomeric paint which is supposed really good paint.
They also stained two wooden gates on the sides of our house.  The gates look really great.
The only two minor issues that we had were.  On one of the gates, they didn't paint a small section of the fence that was attached to the gate.  I called Daniel and he apologized and was going to schedule a day for his worker to come back out.  But I decided to just paint the section myself which took about 20 minutes.  The only other issue was that there was one small wooden window frame that you can only see if you're on the roof that wasn't stripped or painted well.  I'll probably spend about half an hour or less touching that up by my self.
Overall though, considering how badly the original paint on our house was in some areas, they did a really terrific job of prepping and painting at a great price.  We would definitely recommend Innovation Painting and would hire them in the future if we have any other painting jobs.

  • First I would like to apologize to David E. Conroy & his team because this review is long overdue. After talking to several recommended contractors, no one gave me a description in sync of what I had in mind for my very outdated kitchen, so I decided to join Angie's List and try my luck here. Though there were many good contractors reviewed, I decided to call David because of the great "local" reviews and was impressed of his response to negative reviews. He responded immediately and the minute I met him I felt very comfortable and we developed a rapport immediately, and finally I heard what I have been waiting for to hear: to get rid of all the eyesores that has been bugging me since I relocated to this house from NYC. I did not know what a renovation entails because all my life I've been an apartment dweller, so I was shocked when I came home one day and the whole kitchen was gutted and then realized why Dave wanted to know my timeline - which I really didn't have because for me as long as he build my dream kitchen with the little space he had to work with, the timeline is "whenever". I'm also lucky because my family lives nearby so cooking & eating was no problem. Dave assembled a great team that are experts in their own field and good people too: Kit & his team (electrician), Chris (flooring), Roberto & last but not least, Alfonso (his right hand - a 1 man team in himself). Trust is not an easy thing to give but with this team no second thought - just gave them the key so they could come and go and they always made sure the house is secured before they left. As I've read and heard renovations don't always go smoothly and this one is no exception: asbestos have to be removed from the ceiling and just as the job got on the way again - they found asbestos under the carpet. In the beginning I did have a budget but when I started shopping around for the appliances, cabinets & other essentials that Dave recommended I soon realized that my dream kitchen is going to cost me, but then I decided not to skimp and followed his recommendations which to this day I don't regret at all especially with the appliances - I'm a baker and like to experiment cooking so it's been great. Dave also went with me to vendors that he knew and was a tremendous help with my indecision's. I think that Dave regretted taking me shopping because when I saw something I liked it would mean an add-on & more work for them - like opening the ceiling & wall again. The team became my family and we had a good time during the duration of the project. Dave also went out of the way to have certain things fixed in and out of the house - for this I will forever be grateful. In the course of the renovation he also noticed that the exterior painting was not done properly and that the beams were rotted so that was added to the project too. I can go on and on but the gist of it is that I have a fantastic, functional and spacious kitchen that I enjoy looking at everyday. The beautiful granite and back splash complement each other; the cabinets - what can I say...the oversize sink, etc. My house also looks great from the outside with the new paint that took me so long to decide on which color. I'm just sorry I still can't figure out how to attach before & after photos...maybe will update one of these days with the photos. I will definitely call Dave again for future projects.

  • I bought the $2000.00 package for exterior painting.  They were quick with responding and getting my service scheduled.  The painters arrived on time and were professional.  The only reason that I gave the B in the quality section is because for some reason they did not paint the trim along the top of the house.  As soon as I contacted them, they scheduled a time to come out and fix it.  The house looks great and I would use them again.

  • The entire process of ordering our closet organizer from start to finish couldn't have been better. After we had ordered our organizer and had the measurements taken, a second individual from BHW came to our residence to take additional measurements. These additional measurements were essential to ensuring a perfect fit as the walls are not perfectly square. This additional measurement was evident when the installers came to install the organizer. Everything fit perfectly and the installation only took 45 minutes. We could not have been happier with the service received from BHW and the quality of the materials used. We were so pleased that we decided to order plantation shutters for our three bedrooms from BHW which are scheduled to be installed in Sept.
I mention the importance of additional measurements for the closet organizer as we had previously ordered a closet organizer from another company. The other company only took one set of measurerments and it took the installer almost three hours to install the organizer unit. In addition, although the price for this organizer was approximately $300 less than what we paid BHW, the quality of workmanship was evident when the two units were compared with one another.
The bottom line is if your want good customer service and high quality materials at a competitive price, you need to go to BHW.
I plan to furnish additional feedback following the installation of our plantation shutters.

  • Koichi painted the ceiling in the three bedrooms, hallway, living room, dining room; painted the walls in the hallway, living room, and dining room; painted the garage door (exterior); and painted/repaired the wood siding of the south side of the house; textured the ceilings in two bedrooms, hallway, and living room.  Koichi's work was thorough and very neat.  After completing texturing/repairing the ceiling, it looked like new and you could not tell those areas had been repaired, i.e. the areas where electricians had moved the ceiling lights in the bedrooms and the ceiling cracks in the living room and hallway.

He always explained what he was going to do and left no room for doubt.  Koichi was very personable and always left the area neat and clean when finished.  The interior of the house looks brand new and he even helped to select the interior color.  Our sister-in-law was so impresed with Koicji's work that she plans to hire him to paint the interior of her residence.  I would highly recommend utilizing Koichi for your painting cannot go wrong for the quality and reasonable price.
