    Otto's Appliance Service, Inc
    My gas cook top is not working. With a great Angie's List review score, I called Otto's Appliance Service. A lot of reviews on Yelp said that they offer same day service but not this time. I told the gentleman that my gas cook top doesn't work because probably spark module doesn't work. I tried it with external lighter and it works. Two days later they sent David over. I expected David to do the fix and took a day off. What he actually did is to take a look at the cook top and tried with his lighter and told me that he guess spark module doesn't work. I said yes that's my guess as well. And he left me a estimation of $366 dollar to replace it and charged me $105 dollar for this 5 minutes work.
    This experience reminds me the sales skill that charges you significantly up front to lock you in. In economic term this is called sale-with-sunk-cost. The itemized estimation is crazy. The part costs $125 and labor costs $241. The service guy himself commented with a shrug that I should go get a new one. What Otto's Appliance Service ends with is either $105 for 5 minutes work or $366 for simply replacing a spark module. They are in such an advanced situation than their customers that they'll make money either way.
    Customers are basically trapped from the minute they called them. I tried to contact back and it's not helping. With the new generation of online service provider, I couldn't believe such business model is still running at ground level. No wonder people are investing in new business model to renovate the industry. 
    I'm not happy and hope anyone reading this could get an idea of how their business run and think if you will like that yourself.

    Cabrillo Plumbing
    When my stove was delivered, the original vendor had to install the stove away from the wall because of the way the gas line was sticking out from the wall. My old stove had an opening in that area but the new stove did not. The vendor could not work with gas lines. The gas line had to be shortened. The Cabrillo technician had to re-align the existing gas line. Install a new gas line/valve.  In order to access the area, the stove had to be moved out and re-installed.  Since the stove fits tightly in-between two cabinets, it took a second person to help. They went out of their way to do a great job!  The Cabrillo technicians were very professional and courteous. It was explained all what needed to be done. They wore booties over their shoes and cleaned up after themselves. The technicians arrived within their arrival window. They called a half hour before arriving.

    It was not exactly as they said they would do. They delayed and I waited for six days, they rescheduled for two days. They fixed it and it became broken again and then I called them an they came back and they said there was nothing they can do and if they were to fix it they would charge me a lot of money and they advised me to buy a new refrigerator. They wanted to teat it like it was a different issue and they could not Identify the problem. So after all this suffering I had to buy a new refrigerator.

    Primer Appliance Service
    After trying the experiments, the clothes still wasn't drying thoroughly enough. It was quite odd that the dryer would heat-up, but not hot enough to dry even one damp towel. I called Primer Appliance to follow-up but did not get a call back. In the meantime, a friend came over and opened up the dryer to look. He did not find anything peculiar. However, the dryer exhaust was hooked back up and it now seems to work fine. Although Primer Appliance did not fix the dryer, I would call them back if I had any problems as I felt the repairman was knowledgable and trustworthy.

    Arrived late. Washer repair ok. Moved dryer to access washer. When dryer put back in place, failed to replace vent on back of dryer and failed to plug dryer in to power. They refused to take the parts removed from the washer. Left a heavy box 30"x30"x24". I had to have the local scavenger haul it away. I won't patronize Sears again.
