Access for equipment to do the work was very challenging and this did not phase them at all. It could not have turned out any better than it is! ACalifornia SmartscapeCS was attentive and suggestive to my goals for the property, listened intently, created 2D rendering of the project concept all at no initial cost to me. Had owner, Richard and designer Samantha actively engaged in making my plans for the project not only appropriate for the property but also worked aggressively to control the budgetary requirements. Compared to the 2 other designers I was evaluating, it was an impressive beginning. Project delivery, given the hurdles that we had to jump through, was amazing. Project Supervisor, Leo, was attentive to my desire to make changes on the fly as we laid out the project and was good to communicate and discuss the additional cost for change orders. The professionalism of the crews and attention to details was a very positive experience. Even up to the day of the final walk through. Having been through a massive landscape remodel of this kind only once before (not same in scope) I was impressed with their ability to manage all aspects of it's complexity. ABerkley Construction IncFantastic!!! I cannot speak highly enough of the guys and gals at Berkley Construction. After dealing with some, we'll say, less than competent construction companies, these guys were a god send. Organized, communicative and so easy to deal with right from the start, they made every step of the process so much easier and more smooth than it could have been otherwise. You should at the very least include them in your bid gathering, as I think they will blow you away with their competence, something that is sadly rare in this field.- Jeff B.

ASunset Pool CompanySunset Pool Company and owners Matt and Tracy Faris are fantastic. We hired Sunset Pool Company to redo our tired looking 15 year old pool. Matt is always prompt to all of his appointments, and is incredibly knowledgeable about the pool equipment, the workings and designs of pools. He had some great suggestions about things we had not thought of. His proposal was emailed to us the same day we met with him, and was a very reasonable bid. He never had any add ons or changes. Extremely professional and honest. We replaced all of the tile and plaster, reconfigured the spa spill over (Matt's idea and we love it), and replaced all the pool equipment. Matt poured a knew pool equipment pad, installed all the equipment himself, and his crews for tiling and plastering were amazing. He sticks to his schedule, and has the work started and completed when he says he will. Even with all the rain, he was able to work around it and get the job done in a timely fashion. It was very easy to get in contact with either Matt or Tracy if we had questions, and they have great follow through. Matt even helped us figure out what was wrong with our deck drainage, and worked to fix it for us. We could not be happier with how our pool turned out. Matt and Tracy made the project run smoothly, and we now have a gorgeous pool. It sparkles with all the abalone shells added to the plaster. We were so happy with how the pool turned out, we hired Matt and Tracy to replace our very large driveway. Matt helped with the design, and hired an amazing concrete company (Black Lion) to demolish and replace the driveway with a new driveway that has a textured finish. It was a huge job, and Matt was on it from beginning to end (Matt and Tracy even helped with the clean up after sand blasting). I cant recommend Sunset Pool Company enough. Everyone involved was professional, reliable, courteous, and honest.- TRACY H.

ARiver Rock OutscapeWe have our entire front and back yard rebuilt from River-Rocks Outscape, and we are extremely happy with the work of entire team including the designer, manager, and workers. NO areas to complain!! Starting from planning, to end everything was done neatly, exactly as per the plan on time as per schedule. We never had to wait for the people to come and start their work also everyday before leaving they used to clean up everything even though it was all outside work. Even they are going our of their ways to help us with some extra work. Basically you get more than 100% returns of the money you spend. I strongly recommend River Rock Outscape for the work. Just give them the contract and they take entire responsibility.- Vidya G.

AThey did a large patio for us and a front walkway and steps. They were very professional and worked with us to get the design we wanted. They were delayed to start due to some equipment breaking down and they were occasionally slow to respond to email, but not too bad. The patio and walkway look great and their recommendations on the pavers were perfect. I can recommend them to anyone in San Diego.

AJesus and his crew were awesome! Jesus especially was responsive and professional. He asked us questions to keep us involved and ensure we were getting what we wanted, but balanced that out well with professional suggestions and expertise. He was as punctual as any contractor I've ever dealt with, which was refreshing. It seemed important to JC Landworks to FINISH the job as quickly as they could after STARTING it, which helped us feel like valued customers, even though, I imagine, our project wasn't one of his highest-end. Drainage was a huge concern of mine given our hemmed-in backyard, but JC's crew used their laser levels to survey the grade and drainage is spot on. The results were fantastic and we've already recommended him to a friend of ours for their patio project.

AAJ Criss was fantastic. They were timely, responsive and did fabulous work. Whenever something came up that either I had a concern about or they had a question about, they made themselves available around my schedule so we could collaborate. I attached two photos to the review, both are in-progress photos that show something maybe we took for granted.. they didn't leave the place a mess every day so it didn't feel like a construction zone. It was great for us, especially with two very young kids. We really enjoyed working with Tony and the AJ Criss team. Would definitely use them again on a future project.

AWe started the process of getting estimates for our backyard pool/landscaping project in April 2019. Gabriel from Rivers was one of the first landscape contractors we met and we immediately liked him and loved his complimentary 3D design of our pool and landscaping. We proceeded to get several other estimates and though some were slightly less expensive, we kept going back to Gabriel's design and detailed estimate. Fast forward to late July, we decided to go with Gabriel and also hired Black Rock Pools for the pool construction. They were a great team and we love our back yard now! We needed everything for our backyard, demolition, retaining walls, 2,800 square feet of pavers, 2 fire pits, irrigation, drainage, tree removals, plants, sod, trees, fences and lighting. They also remodeled our fireplace in our home and mounted the TV over our fireplace. Every worker was competent and respectful. They were on the job every day, always on time and though we had some miscommunication issues over the 3 month project, they always made things right until we were happy.

AIn the matter of a few weeks we went from a backyard wasteland full of cracked concrete, broken irrigation lines, a patio that would never drain right to a masterpiece worth being proud of. System Pavers and our project manager Alex were AMAZING. In short order they were able to transform our backyard from a place we never wanted to be to a place that we always want to be. The pavers they installed are amazing, all of the drainage works perfectly, and it is now a safe place for us to enjoy as a family. If you are in the market for some backyard work, call System Pavers first. They are fast, organized, curious and professional. Make sure you ask for Alex and his crew too because they are incredible.
