  • Chuck is extremely professional and is able to tackle just about any job. He clearly has a wide range of skills and is excellent at figuring out how to solve problems. Chuck is very conscientious, and I appreciate his attention to detail. I was impressed with the quality of Chuck's work and would hire him again without question.

  • Horrible. We had a contract that included filling holes, cracks etc. We just had foundation leveled and wanted the huge cracks in walls repaired before painting. They did they opposite poorly. They sprayed paint on every floor in the house, every fixture. They overlapped colors between ceilings and walls and walls and trim. We paid them prior to the job being finished keeping our word, and they just stopped coming by to finish

  • I called Thompson Painting after a neighbor recommended them. I desperately needed my Master bedroom painted as well as 2 bathrooms. I was nervous as the Master was originally a dark green, and I wanted to go quite a bit lighter in color. They did such a great job! Super professional, always on time, and communicated exactly what they were going to do before they started. They were extremely curteous to my home, covering furniture, windows and carpets so nothing got damaged. I thought they were very friendly and even helped me decide on a paint color for the bathroom when I was unsure.

  • At $90/hour this is the most expensive painter my wife and I have come across in Marin County. (other licensed painters generally charge closer to $50/hour). The quality of their work is, in our opinion, averge at best. After several jobs, the owner convinced us to use a time materials-based contract "to save us money" - which it did not. It's also contrary to the California Contractors Licensing Board's contract rules. As part of their last job they charged more than $2,000 to paint a 50 square foot bathroom - a bathroom this company had painted just 2 years ago - the paint was in good condition and very little prep work was needed. On the same job we discovered that their crew was leaving early but we were being charged for a full days work. The owner admitted we were correct and took a small amount off the bill to compensate for the overcharges. Following that incident (which was not the first time we had been overcharged) we asked that the crew and crew chief be replaced. The owner insisted that the chief and his assistant remain on the job, despite the fact that the chief was responsible for reporting their hours. We decided we would never hire them again. I am embarrassed to say we worked with this company on more than one occassion despite their crews leaving garbage in our hallways - from paint cans to fast food wrappers - blocking access to our garage with ladders and other equipment (despite their having been provided with a storage area about 5 yards away)...and other issues. Generally 2 or 3 complaints would result in these issues being resolved. But having them happen at all is unprofessional. We did not include our address - we used theirs - "Doolittle Street," - to protect our privacy. Plus the irony is obvious. Again, this is our experience with them over a two year period. Perhaps your will have a better one. We are not painters and do not claim to know the business. But we have worked with many over the past 25+ yeatrs. Unfortunately, this was not one of the better ones.

  • After a few guys came over and gave their prices, we decided on Chuck because he had the most professional and friendly manner of them all. He did a fantastic job, arriving on time and cheerfully tackling even the most challenging parts of our little projects. He was also willing to negotiate, making his top-quality services very affordable for us. We would recommend him to anyone!

  • This is the second project we've had Majestic Builders do for us.  The first (a downstairs bathroom, four years ago) went so well that we looked forward to working with Chuck again. Here's why:

He is very responsive: He's easy to reach by phone, text, and email.

He is honest: He does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it.

He is knowledgeable: He clearly knows construction, plumbing, and electrical and the product options available in each area, with recommendations for where to find the best sources, both in stores or online. We always feel his suggestions have our best interests in mind.

He's straightforward: The information he provides in the planning stage is clear and easy to keep track off throughout the project: he lists each step that will need to be completed, what tasks and product will be required, and makes a good estimate of what it will cost. Both our projects have ended up very close to what he estimated, with variation primarily due to changes in our preferences as the work unfolded.

He has high standards: He clearly cares about what he creates and fixes and the outcome reflects that -- he wants everything to work smoothly and look good.

He works efficiently: Because he knows what needs to be done, he is able to organize tasks in the best order to get the entire project done as quickly as possible.  He works with an assistant who helps keep things moving along by taking care of specific tasks and helping Chuck work on the bigger things.

He keeps the work area as clean as possible given that construction is going on.

He's a nice guy -- friendly, good natured, and patient, even with homeowners anxious about changes happening in their homes!

  • We are very happy with the finished results. They put a coat of primer and two coats of paint on the body of the house. They printed and used 3 coats of paint on the trim. Richard and his crew of very professional and customer service oriented. They were very clean and did a great job of cleaning up. The house looks terrific. We will use Five Star anytime we need painting done. Thanks, Richard for making this a very positive experience.

  • Extremely efficient & professional. Amazing job with the prep work...taping and blocking off areas so they wouldn't be exposed. The sprayer who did the doors was awesome. His 14 years of experience showed. The project was right on schedule...with just about 1/2 day delay because the paint hadn't dried. I paid the exact bid price. VERY VERY satisfied. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

  • All work performed were done professionally and executed with quality workmanship.  Mike, the owner, showed thorough knowledge and all around grasp of home building and current code standards.  Permits were taken out for jobs that required permits. Overall, very impressive results delivered.
