Flooring reviews in Santa Cruz

Excellent. We were on vacation and Miguel did it while we were gone. Came back to a beautiful finished house. I also used them on another more difficult older house refinish job a couple years ago and that was also done well. Miguel is very professional, on time and worth evey penny.

Complete Floors sanded and refinished 2200 sq. ft. of knotty pine flooring for my commercial project- The Oasis Tasting Room and Kitchen in Santa Cruz Ca. The owner - Ben Shermis- did an excellent job on the floors and coordinated well with the other trades involved in such a large project. Not only did Ben do an excellent job on the floors, he provided the finish and helped with finishing all the redwood picnic tables and the bar. Because of all the extra work I threw at him Ben had to work long hard hours to get the job finished and keep my project on schedule. Getting the floors refinished on schedule on a large commercial project is crucial to getting the doors open on time and Complete Floors made it happen for us.

Very well. Little down time which was my biggest concern. Very professional, excellent communication. I wish I'd done this sooner if I had known it would be this easy! The floor looks fabulous and is withstanding the paws of 3 dogs very well.

Todd and his son Zach did an absolutely amazing job on installing our cork flooring. He was very thorough when he came to give a quote, he caught many things that the other installers had missed. I had several follow up questions and he was quick to respond. He was very punctual, neat, very very precise, extreme attention to detail and involved us in every step of the installation. When it came time to clean up he and Zach left our house cleaner than when they found it. Todd and Zach do exceptional work, if you need any flooring installed Stephens Flooring is definitely the installer you want. Could not be happier.

Diaz Hardwood Floors moved and replaced the refrigerator and free-standing floor-to-ceiling shelving so they could refinish the entire space.  They removed and replaced the deeply urine-stained floor boards, and replaced with matching pieces.  As promised, they sanded, completely cleaned, sealed, then applied 2 additional coats of oil-based polyurethane.  Very minimal dust left on the patio, but not a speck inside the unit.  The work was finished right on time. They also addressed a raised threshold that had been added when we did some remodeling to the unit.  The installer came downstairs to ask me if I wanted to change that piece with a flush piece of the wood, I asked what do you think?  He said " I like flush because it's easier to sweep the floor."  A very good point, and the result made the whole floor more open-looking as well.  When they left, they advised us on the curing time etc.

The estimate was free. The bad thing was, the person who gave us the estimate had an attitude. She said something and stormed out of here. The good thing that came with that was, she did submit a bid afterwards and I guess, she sent along a 10% courtesy discount. But, it was the attitude there that said, "No, we're not dealing with them." We had carpet samples and things like that and took them home. So they were good in that regard. When she came out to take the measurements, it all seemed to be fine. She was snippy when my wife would ask questions. They were nicely responsive up until the time they came into our house. Once the person came into the house, it was a whole different situation.

I had many ideas for my bathroom remodel, but I also "only" had a budget of about 15k to do it.  I contacted several local contractor/designers that I found on Houzz, but they basically scoffed at my tiny budget.  I thought I found someone to do it for my budget through a recommendation, but that contractor turned out to be a nutjob.  So I found John Pauza on Angie's List and contacted him.
Let me first say that I was not planning on doing a full bathroom remodel, but my hand was forced when I literally stepped through the bathroom floor one day and realized that my fixer upper was presenting one more thing to break my bank.
John was professional and responded right away.  He came out and looked at my little bathroom; went under the house and came back with the wonderful news that there wasn't actually a subfloor under my bathroom!  The bathtub was perched across a couple joists with nothing under it.
Anyway, this was in September.  I was already in the midst of installing a new septic system (did I mention fixer-upper?) so John was honest and gave me a quote that included tying in the bathroom shower to the new septic (it was originally a sort of ad hoc greywater setup), pulling permits to do everything correctly, and he told me his schedule wouldn't allow for my job till mid-November.  This worked out fine for me, and John did call me in late October to set up a start time for the project.  He gave me a formal quote at that time, with payment terms, benchmark dates and a completion window.
The job went pretty smoothly and John was always open and honest about cost and completion.  He and his helper, Antonio, always showed up at 8am and worked through till 4pm and the job was completed on time and within budget. They hauled away all the garbage too.
John's a gregarious, funny guy who knows his stuff.  I'll give him a straight A because he worked with me on my budget, worked with the tile place and the flooring people, offered money-saving suggestions and was careful to preserve anything I wanted to reuse, such as the sink and toilet.  He is scrupulous about details and I was never left wondering about where money went or anything.  Antonio is a diligent worker who knows his stuff too.  He did all the tile-setting and did a really nice job.
The bathroom came out nicely and I'm happy to have met and employed John Pauza.

Taking out old floor was difficult -- it had been nailed down -- and time consuming but all the work was done well and one time. They took extra care moving refrig, dishwasher and large cupboard out AND  at no added cost plugged up some holes to keep mice and rats out AND secured my cupboard so it wont fall over during an earthquake.

The finished floors are gorgeous, still look perfect eight months after installation, with only a few creaky spots.  Make sure you are there to talk with installers; they were ready to nail down the flooring into asbestos tiles.  Since I was there I was able to get them going in the right direction.

These installers are wonderful. Clear  and frequent communications, so we were all on the same page.  The completed the two installations in the time allotted, for the amount stated before job began, and they were not only prompt and cheerful, but cleaned up the site each day.
