I was previously seeing another specialist in Marin for my anal fissure. It got cured for a while but then came back. I couldn't get another appt for 2 months--not ok when you are in serious pain. I saw an ad in the SF Chronicle for Hemorrhoid treatment so thought the doctor might deal with this problem also. Amazingly I was able to get an appt the next day, the problem was confirmed, and the special cream was prescribed. The cream Dr. Million uses, a combination of Nitroglicerin, Lidocane and something else, which has to be compounded, worked much better than the cream prescribed by the other doctor. My pain was much reduced and disapeared completely in three weeks--record time for this condition. This doctor offers a Botox treatment for this condition and I made an appt in two weeks after the initial visit, but when I went back I had my doubts about doing it because I was so much better. She confirmed it was not really necessary at that point. I couldn't be happier with this doctor. She deals with you as a human being and is very patient with answering questions--a big issue with me. Highly recommended.

    Torosis, Dr. James D.
I had been there for colonoscopy.  This is my third trip to him, and my wife’s first.  We have been very impressed with him.  He is very professional.  He has got a nice personality, and he talks to you like a person.  Along with his practice he is also a teacher, an instructor in a medical school and he is used to working with people.  He is available.  The thing that he does before the operation is, he sits down and talks to you in his office about the whole process and what’s going to happen to you, so that you will have a real idea of what is going on, which is good.  His office was fine; it is in a business park with other professional offices, so it is great.  I think he has two offices, so depending on where you live you can go to one that is either close to where I live,  Redwood city or south which is in Mountain Dew or something like that.  The punctuality aspect is fine, he is very punctual.  We always had this procedure first thing in the morning so we are talking about 7:30 am.  The staff is friendly, very nice and very helpful.  They are very concerned about you.  You have different levels of staff there, there is a receptionist at the office, and there is a receptionist at the endoscopy center.  There are nurses that prepare you, and there are nurses in the operating room with you.  They are very pleasant people and they say this is something which you have to do and they make it painless as possible.  They are fine people to deal with.  The bedside manner is fine, my wife went in and he asked how everything was and she said she had a tight IT band.  So he was telling her he knows what that was and he has got that too and he was telling her to stretch it, and that was very nice.  They try to make it as easy on the patient.  The treatment is very effective.  Colonoscopy is preventive kind of stuff, that’s what they are supposed to do and that’s what they do and it is seems to work.  It is all covered by insurance and it has worked out just fine.  So between medicare and social security all is paid for, and I am happy with it and there is no hassle.  I will have to use him again in the future, and in another 4 years I will have to do that.

    Boulevard Surgical Associates
I arrived at my appointment a few minutes early. The office was somewhat old, but it had a cozy feeling. The front desk personnel were very courteous and checked me in promptly. The doctor (Dr. Coughlin) arrived no more than 5 minutes after I checked in, which was impressive given the long delays typically seen in primary care physicians offices. He took a quick look at my problem and gave me a diagnosis very different than the two gastroentrologists that I had visited before. He gave me a detailed explanation of how it could have occurred and also suggested an outpatient surgery. After the initial scare I got from the gastroentrologist, this was far more convincing and I was relieved that it was a minor issue that was not going to be chronic. I left with a very positive impression about Dr. Coughlin and the practice in general.

She diagnosed correctly and has started the treatment. She really knows her stuff. I haven't had any trouble getting an appointment, but I have had to wait a little bit to get in to see her. The billing is easy.

    Kwon, Dr. Annette Y.
Dr. Annette Kwon was very professional, kind, knowledgeable, punctual, and communicative. She clearly communicated what the procedure would entail prior to beginning, and afterward she made time to review the results of my procedure and to answer any questions I had. Her staff were also all very attentive, kind, and communicative. My experience at Dr. Kwon's practice this was quote possibly the most positive experience I have ever had for any medical procedure or doctor's office visit. I would highly recommend Dr. Annette Kwon for any GI-related concern.

Had a routine checkup scheduled for the first time with Dr. Kelsen. The office waiting area looks a little dated, but the staff was courteous and made me fill the required paperwork. Dr. Kelsen was on time and took me straight from the waiting area to the patient room. Took blood pressure, weight and pulse first. He then very patiently explained the advantages of good diet and exercise on overall GI health. His exam was very thorough and I felt like he really listened to my concerns. Ovreall a very positive experience.

    Nguyen, Dr. Dat T.
I signed up for bariatric surgery, a so he was in to the bariatric program Bally Care Medical. The service was fabulous; the office, timeliness, and I don’t think I had to wait for him. The office support people, the program and everything about him was great.  He also kept me in to doing a colonoscopy as well.

If you have a pain in the butt, go see Dr. Million. Most of my problems went away after she helped me identify a gluten sensitivity. For all of the others, she is there to provide compassionate care. From fissures to fistulas, hemorrhoids to HPV; Dr. Million can help you with them all. There is a compounding pharmacy conveniently located in the building. If she prescribes the and quot;nitro glycerineand quot; salve, have it made there. Its $50 that insurance does not cover and is money well spent. If your condition requires outpatient surgery, she has a small, well equipped theater right there in her offices. If you have a hemorrhoid that needs to be removed, she uses a system that puts a tiny rubberband around it so it and quot;stranglesand quot; and falls off in its own time. The staff and I are on a first name basis. They are all extremely helpful, though you do have to pay attention at the billing stage because they don't always handle multiple payment methods well. I've referred friends to Dr. Million and they are also satisfied with her care.
