Skylight Installation reviews in Santa Clara

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • It was a great experience working with the Cosmo crew who were very professional and courteous. In two days, they replaced our old roof on a 3 bedroom single family home and installed a new skylight. During the process, they found rotted wood and replaced them properly. The gutters were painted to match the house. I appreciate their high quality workmanship and flexibility by working with our contractor's schedule and the unpredictable weather. Their commitment to customer satisfaction is obvious as they accommodated many of my requests during the process. I would highly recommend them.

  • We are overall very happy with the roofing and gutter job itself, however the communication during the job on important issues was extremely poor. 1. We were promised a communication call before repairs were performed with an estimate of cost. This didn't happen, instead, repairs were performed without an estimate or approval. 2. I had to repeatedly call to even find out when the job would start and ask if there was anything we needed to do during the job. 3. Sun tunnel was installed in the wrong location on the roof and therefore caused additional location problems inside the house. Claims were made after the work was done about potential issues with problems installing in the indicated location, but nobody asked us before going ahead with placing the sun tunnel in the wrong location. We did OK the install once it was already completed on the inside of the house, but the contractor should have called his superior before going ahead with installing it once he saw he wouldn't be able to get the tunnel where we originally asked. We showed the roofers repeatedly where we wanted the tunnel on the inside of the house, and they acknowledged the location, and installed it in the wrong place. 4. Lindy (Neil Buencamino) volunteered the team to return and perform a final cleanup, cutting nail ends that were showing through the eaves and cleaning up paint that was spilled on pavers. When the workers arrived to perform the tasks they were unprepared and uninterested in doing the work, instead they "tried" to clean paint and when they couldn't they claimed they had no time to go buy supplies to do the job, then claimed their team didn't spill paint, then demanded final payment. Although overall we are very happy with the appearance and process of the installation of our new roof and gutters, Lindy failed repeatedly to communicate to us not only work schedule, but any issues during the job. I also feel there was a huge disconnect between those doing the work, Promises made by Neil, and us as the customer. Once work started the feeling I got was like an express train passing through the station; nothing was going to slow it down or stop it once on its way.

  • Tim of Case arrived at approx. 9:10 am (anticipated arrival was between 9 - 9:30a) so we consider him on time. First thing we did was review the work list and discuss what needed to be done. Some items were eliminated from the list. Tim organized his workload and completed all exterior work first, then moved inside. He was very professional and knowledgeable. What we really liked about him was his very friendly and practical approach to the work.

  • My experience with Sunlight Concepts was excellent.  They responded promptly and scheduled an appointment.  They were timely on the appointment and completed the work in less than one hour!  They cleaned up after they were done and were extremely professional in how they approached their job.
The fans are working beautifully.  Note that I did upgrade the fan by adding a solar temperature control.   The nice thing about having a temperature control is that the fan will turn on and off when the attic hits a certain temperature.
Note that the fans are very quiet and look nice on the roof!

  • The process went very well. The team was great to work with. The only issue was weather related; when rain delayed the painting. I would have appreciated better communication about when the painters would restart, but it all worked out fine.

  • The job turned out to be easier and less invasive than I expected it to be. We were experiencing leakage on the roof around the skylights and they were able to order and replace the skylights. They don't normally do jobs involving exclusively skylights, but they were happy to do the job for me. A few weeks after the installation we had a large storm and realized the leak that prompted the call was still there. He wasn't able to come immediately, but they said they would call me when they were available to come out and look at it again.

I'm anticipating it being very difficult to find the leak but I am confident that they can find it.

They did show up when they said they would for the appointment and they offered a reasonable price. The leak was not from the skylights, as I originally thought, so it's still anxious to get that fixed, but the work they have done so far was very good.

  • Our experience with Sunlight Concepts was very positive.  We visited the showroom and were impressed with the products they were supplying.  In addition to demonstrating all the options in detail, the staff took the time to discuss the installation process and assist us with arrangements for an electrician to rewire switches, etc.  We selected two 10" Solatubes with vent units for our bathrooms, one 14" Solatube for our kitchen and one solar attic fan. Pricing was fair and discounts and rebates really helped sell us.  When we needed to reschedule our installation appointment, the staff worked with us and were flexible. The installer was ontime, professional and personable, taking care to discuss fixture positioning, issues/work arounds, and planned activities before beginning.  He was efficient and the process took about 6 hours overall.  The areas worked in were left clean and neat.  We are very pleased with the work that was done in our home. The resulting changes the Solatubes made in rooms that were previously dark is unbelievable. You can't imagine that such a small addition could make such a large change in your living environment, but it does.  I only wish I had done this sooner and would definitely provided references for and use Sunlight Concepts again.

  • Overall we are very happy with the outcome of our projects and will only call on Left Coast Contractors for everything we might need in the furue. It is a great sense of security to have a service provider that I can trust, recommend and depend on.

  • Randy came out and did my estimate, and was great about answering all my questions. I just got a strong knowledgeable-and-professional vibe from him, and didn't feel like he was trying to sell me anything either. He also pointed out that our old skylights are super-energy-inefficient, and recommended we replace them. He gave me a recommendation for what to buy and some ideas on where to get it. There was no extra charge for him to install them, which I appreciated. We also got a list of installations they had done in our area so that we could drive around and take a look. That was helpful in picking our material and color as well. Once we decided to go with Los Gatos Roofing, there was about a 2-3 week lead time before they had an opening-that seemed reasonably short to me. They mailed us detailed info on what to expect during the re-roof and how exactly to prepare for it, which was great. When the day arrived, everyone was on time, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. Randy was in and out checking on things and answering any questions I had. I got a good feeling that his crews knew what they were doing. Randy was taking ownership of the job and making sure things were done right. The re-roof took 3 days, which they had accurately estimated, and it looks great. Randy even came back a few weeks later to install one of the skylights that we had to backorder. I hate posting a review that's got nothing but positives in it, but I really don't have anything negative to say about our experience, and I would definite recommend these guys to friends. One note-they're not cheap. They're price was reasonable, but they are likely to come in on the high side of several estimates. However, first-hand experience over the years has given me a strong you-get-what-you-pay-for philosophy, and I thought their price was fair for what I got and reflected the quality of my experience.

  • They did a fine job with very nice workmanship. Everything was excellent. They only took four hours to do the job. The installer is the owner and he takes great pride in his work. I found the company in the phone book. The product they installed is of very high quality. It is a higher quality product compared to what you could get at a place like a home improvement store.
