  • I wanted to update this out of fairness to Dr. Morgan. The pathology report he requested on the removed mass was to make sure that all of the tumor was removed, to prevent it growing back, not to determine if it was cancerous. It would have helped for him to tell us that, but we are all human after all. We still declined however because if you think about it, what would we do if he missed a bit? Would we want him to go back in for more? The answer is still no. This is a traumatic surgery, and although I still think we did the right thing, I do not think more surgery is the answer unless the tumor endangers her quality of life or function of organs, which does not appear to be the case. Time will tell. If you get a chance to work with the vet tech Missy, do so. She was the one who thoroughly informed us post op, and cleared up any question we had. I would still not recommend this particular vet, with the caveat that he will spend your money easily and if you do use him be sure to make clear your limits, knowing he is a caring, albeit high priced vet.

    Surgery went fine, and we believe that the Dr was correct in suggesting it, but the problem is that the Dr. wanted us to send in the mass to pathology again at an additional and unnecessary cost. After looking at the costs each time we have gone to see that particular vet, we think the added diagnostic pricing is unrealistic. The ear growth, the size of a small pea (hystio cytoma - not sure about the spelling) testing and removal costs were unrealistic, especially after another vet told us they are very common and not a problem, and in fact usually fall off after a couple of months. I do think St Francis Pet clinic employs sweet people who really care about our pets. I do not like feeling as though I am an uncaring person for declining unnecessary testing and treatments, although the pressure exerted on us was designed to make us feel that we are. We will now have to change vets. I don't know if guilt pricing is clinic policy or just that particular vet. We adore our dog and would not put her through what we feel is inhumane chemo treatments even if she had cancer, but would make her remaining life as comfortable as possible. So what is the point in further testing of a removed mass (that tested negative for cancer anyway) to look for cancer when we would not do more than we have done in having it removed? Does this make sense to anyone else? I have had to ask myself why the vet would insist twice now that we go forward with expensive testing and/or treatment that is not in the best interests of owner or pet, and worse, unnecessary.

  • Fez?s visit on 03 June 2014 to see the Ventura Veterinary Hospital Entourage ?

    A sincere "thank you" for the special attention all of you provided 3 June 2014 for our dog Fez that needed oral surgery as soon as possible.  We had several issues leading up to why we chose Dr. Marianne and your hospital for this needed procedure and the overall experience ended up flawless.  After reading online reviews and within one visit to your office, we felt comfortable enough to trust your hospital with our sensitive, ?old-soul introspective? child/dog Fez.  You were truthful and responsive from the start and put us at ease knowing what would be involved in this procedure.

    We have communicated to friends & co-workers about what a great Veterinarian office you have and that this good experience is because of a combined effort between the Veterinarian, Staff, and Hospital Personnel.

    Thank you for caring and making our lives easier!  We will see you again in the near future for Fez and our other pets? needs.  We also will send photos and hope to be posted on your ?Wall-of-Fame? for current & future patients.

  • It is the closest where I live and when I looked online, they were just as well like this, and now, they wanted to lead us. Anyway, I have been happy with their services. I am using that vet. They are reasonable to other vets. I do not know exactly, for immunization, sometimes my bill is like $64 but she had 3 shots, so, I am not sure. My first visit was free to meet the vet and I am happy with their services. I have just started some puppy classes with a woman named Wency Lopez and she is excellent.

  • Every time we went to see them, they provided excellent care for cat.  They are very professional when dealing with my pets and I.  The technicians in the hospital are top notch as well.  I would recommend them to anyone looking for a primary care veterinarian.

  • When we had a pet emergency, I checked with friends and everyone I
    called emphatically sent me to Care Hospital on Haley and Garden.  At
    2AM we received attentive and supportive "care".  The doctor kept us well
    informed, we were permitted, in fact encouraged, to visit our pet while
    under their care, and the entire staff seemed competent, friendly and
    sympathetic to our entire family. 
    We now have our pet home and happy.  I'm grateful that Care was there when we needed it, and for it
    being such a wonderful quality service provider.  I have to say the cost
    was not cheap, but I don't think any more then my regular Vet and
    always available.  Thank you Care!

  • They came when they said they would. They were very professional. My cats presented them him with a bit of a challenge, but he knew exactly what to do and we got through it. It all went very quickly.

  • I have been going for years and I highly recommend them. For general veterinarian services they are wonderful. I haven't had any specialized things, but if they needed it, I would recommmend ST. FRANCIS PET CLINIC. They are very upfront explaining their prices. Their responsiveness depends on how busy they are. How do you rate waiting 4 hours, but their services are excellent. They take the most serious cases first. I am almost always taken in on my appointment time, but if there is a pet with an emergency I might have to wait. Usually they are very prompt.

  • We learned from this.   Insist on what you know is right.   When faced with an officious professional who is not listening to you, leave and go somewhere else.   Follow your instincts, we suspected poison when Kaspurr got suddenly worse, but the SB Pet vet said he doubted it.   (the emergency hospital vets all said it was poisoning, they get it a lot). 
    We are hopeful that the vet who worked on our Kaspurr no longer works for the SB Pet Hospital, (or anywhere for that matter...)  The staff was otherwise friendly and seemed professional.   But we would not go back.

  • They were just very personable and it was not like a normal veterinarian service. They did a follow up call with us. We made a donation to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital of our dog. They sent us a sympathy card afterwards. And even along the way, when he was getting sick for towards the end when we had to take him in, a lot of the services she gave were for no charge at all, out of kindness of her heart. We have started referring her to a lot of other people since then because the veterinarians that we have gone to, we feel that they gouge you for services here and there and you end up paying thousands of dollars for what you feel is nothing. She definitely didn't do that.

  • I have had a great experience Animal Medical Clinic and was specifically fond of Dr. Smith. I have driven a distance to go see him, as I think he is worth it. Also, Dr. Smith has been very honest, in which he didn't want to waste my money about having my cat receive ineffective shots at the hospital and instead instruct me about how to administer the shots. I thought his billing was great, as they actually saved me money.
