Dan was an excellent contractor to work with - professional, communicative, prompt, detail oriented and personable. My wife and I decided to do an extensive kitchen remodel (down to studs, removing a wall, redoing floors, etc.) and very happy we chose Dan to do the work. He kept to the schedule he laid out at the beginning (except for inevitable "found items" during the remodel) and his sub-contractors were all top notch. Dan kept us informed through out the work what was coming next, when it would happen and what we should expect as we lived through the remodel. If/when we do our next project on the house, we will definitely be reaching out to Dan again and have already recommended him to friends and family members.

Very professional and courteous from start to finish. High quality work. Went above and beyond expectations in keeping job site clean and returning everything to original state. Could have been more protective in communicating with me.

    SGS Inc
During home purchase, cracks were found in the foundation.  Several expert opinions as to repair options were submitted.  The buyer found research from Saudi Arabia that pointed to a wet/dry cycle of the re-bar inside the foundation being the cause - and still ongoing.
In collaboration with structural engineer, John Bradbury, SGS was able to cut-out the damaged areas, replace the damaged steel, and fabricate and install an access door thru the footing - taking the opportunity to make the home better while repairing the damage.

SGS then coated the entire footing surface with the same moisture proof material tested by the Saudi government to prevent the wet/dry cycle, ending cause of the damage.

The estimated price for sealing the crawlspace and putting in the sump pump was $10000. They offered to do my sump pump for $1600. Their estimate was very expensive. A sump pump shouldn't cost $1600. They lowered the cost to $8500 for the sump pump plus sealing the crawlspace with plastic. They wouldn't go any lower than that. I got the crawlspace sealed by another provider for $3000 and then I got a sump pump put in by a plumber for $1100. I was able to get the job done for less than half of their estimate. The person who came out to give the estimate was polite and nice. He seemed like a decent guy. He did a good job with the estimate but their price was just too high. He came over late but he called ahead in advance and they responded to my email. I would not consider them for another quote in the future.

In & Out Plumbing & Construction
We were doing a kitchen remodel and we had to break a concrete slab underneath for new plumbing to connect to the drain.  We found that our drain line needed to be replaced for our kitchen (it was literally falling apart). We decided to reroute our drain line instead of repairing the existing line. They minimized the damage to our slab by digging underneath the slab and only breaking a small portion of it to dig the trench.  Once they got to the lawn they dug up the top layer of the grass to preserve the lawn and flipped it over.  They dug the trench and and connected the new line to the main drain, then back filled and re-seated the lawn.

The job took two days with a lot of crew members. They were able to do this all within two days but found additional damage as they dug.  They gave us a quote for that and I OK'd them to proceed.  Because of this additional work they had to come back the next day to re-pour the slab in the area they dug out.  But it was raining the next day and one of their service trucks broke down (Anthony called before the meeting time and explained), and after some discussion, he decided to pay my general contractor to finish the job (to pour the concrete.) This minimized the delay for us and got the job done despite challenges on their end.  Overall I felt like I was taken care of.

I would definitely call them again!

Good. Would recommend for foundation inspection. Haven't contracted with them to actually fix anything yet but might get a quote from a few competing firms before deciding. Overall, I paid ~$500 for the inspection and was satisfied by the level of detail and service in regards to the inspection.

    North Current Builders
I've used Rano for several projects from a kitchen upgrade and putting in recessed lighting into my master bedroom at my old townhouse. In addition he's done work for my brother and other relatives here in the bay area. My wife and I recently bought a new single family home and we contracted him to do a remodel that spanned new windows, new lighting, new wood flooring, new insulation, and other pre move-in "touchups". We thought we bought a "nice but on the older side of a house." Rano turned our house into our perfect dream home! Rano's customer service attitude is outstanding: He lays out your options clearly and outlines exactly what materials and labor cost. In addition he lets you know quickly if problems arise. Generally speaking I've never seen him miss a completion date; though it did happen this past remodel - but we can chalk it up to anal Foster City building inspectors. This resulted in us having to delay our move for a day, but this is where Rano really shined. The day prior to our move, he came to the new house and did a final clean up (edge to edge) at 9pm on a Saturday! This attention to detail always impresses me. I like anal construction people. :) Rano's team is excellent - he's the only one I trust to do multi day through multi week projects and give him full run of the property while we're at work. In addition I've always trusted his judgement when I ask the inevitable: "Is the extra $ in materials for this worth it?" There's no attempt on his side to upsell the unnecessary or un-needful. Of course, you don't tend to look for this particular quality in a top notch construction team. The North Current builders just seem to have it all. Well so about that "perfect" house comment - maybe... it'll be even more perfect when I save up to have him do our kitchen. :)
