Does a Painting Estimate Really Matter?

    Flux Construction
Firstly, I highly recommend Flux Construction. We recently used Flux to expend and renovate our entire house. We have been delighted with the entire process and the results. I feel that we worked with someone that really takes pride in the quality of the work they're doing. Their employees were always professional and courteous. They always kept us up to date on the progress of the job. They were very considerate and made sure everything was protected and covered during the Remodel. Renovation can be stressful- but having Flux as our contractors really helped alleviate the majority of our concerns and I will definitely be calling them for any future needs.

Tito Alcaraz Painting & Repair Specialist
Tito?s team arrived early in the morning and worked all day. Our project took about 10 full days and then a few partial days as the project was completed. At the end of each day, the crew placed all of their equipment out of the way so that we were able to access and use our back yard patio. They were very neat and tidy as they worked and the high quality of their work was evident as the project progressed. I have never had a crew work so carefully and painstakingly to achieve such a high quality result. Over the years, several windows were cracked and Tito arranged for a very good company (Glass etc) to replace the broken glass at the end of the project.
When the new glass was installed, Tito?s team returned to touch up and make sure the new glass was finished to match the old windows. Since the project was completed, neighbors have stopped by to compliment us on how great the house looks. I am beyond thrilled with the outcome and will use Tito Alcaraz and his team again.
Tito does a lot of restoration work on older homes. He knows a great deal about preservation and restoration and I think this sets him apart from other painting companies. His crew is very careful with the work that goes into restoring older homes. I think this is particularly good to know as his company is a "painting and repair" company.  When we realized that some extensive repair and restoration work was needed, it was really wonderful to know that Tito's company had the expertise to be able to manage this. I did not have to suspend the painting to wait for another company to repair and restore the rotted wood.
The overall quality of this project is beautiful. My husband and I are very pleased and know that when we use Tito for some interior work that the crew will be tidy and provide top quality service. I recommend Tito Alcaraz Painting and Repair wholeheartedly and enthusiastically!

Scheduled an estimate and Rigoberto Perez  of Perez Brothers came over.  Perez Brothers painted the interior of the entire house several years ago as subcontractors of a major remodel.   This time, we needed extensive exterior painting.  He came over, looked at everything, and said he would email the estimate, which never arrived.  Waited several weeks to at least a month, and no estimate ever arrived by email or postal mail.  We also called Mr. Perez multiple times to the phone number he provided and left many messages but no return phone call, ever.   Was really disappointed and perplexed because they had done a very good job on the interior.   We aren't sure why they never followed through or returned our calls.  We guessed our job wasn't large enough to be worth the time and don't really know the reason, but we've had a lot of bad experiences with other contractors taking money and not doing the job right and thought the Perez Brothers were above that.   But at least they saved us the potential nightmare of not hiring them.

    Fauxtopia Studios
Long overdue review....   Great experience all the way around.  We made the job difficult due to some scheduling conflicts, but they worked with and around us and did an excellent job.  Very happy with the results and will use them again without hesitation.

    Catalina Paints
They're polite and personable. I've had a lot of specialized hand painting and they worked hard getting the right colors for me. Catalina paints are made locally and it's a local business, so it's nice.

    House Painting Inc
The company had two separate crews, one for inside and one for outside. Everyone was very flexible with our somewhat disjointed schedule and worked around us efficiently enough to get the jobs done quickly. The paint jobs inside and out are clean, neat, and very thorough. The painters never asked us to do anything; they moved all the furniture inside and replaced it (even reconnecting the earthquake straps for the big bookcases); they moved all the plants and furniture and screens outside and put them all back when the job was done; they covered everything that needed to be covered with plastic, tape, etc. and bound up the plants. And before they painted they prepped everything very thoroughly, scraping, priming, washing, filling. In the end, the house looks gorgeous and we're very satisfied with the quality of the work. We'd definitely call them again.

    Sun Painting Texas LLC
Very professional and overall good work. We are very pleased with the end result, and plan on using them again in several months when we start our next project.

The quality of the cabinet painting was very high, and the stain on both the kitchen island and stair railing looks like new (we were concerned that refinishing a previously stained surface wouldn't look good, but we we're very happy with the end result). There was a punch list of things that we needed to get fixed at the end of the project that I wish they had identified instead of having to be asked, but everything ended up being fixed to our satisfaction. Those items included:

    - Paint overspray on the floor tile between the cabinets and the refrigerator
    - They had drilled a hole for cabinet hardware on the wrong side of one of the cabinet doors, and the initial repair needed to be re-done (the final repair is visible if you look closely, but looks generally good)
    - One of the drawer pulls was off center by about an inch, and needed to be corrected (and the holes patched)
    - Some touch up work in a few spots where the stair rail lacquer needed to be filled in

On a final note, because our baseboard paint was old and had yellowed a bit, they were unable to get a good match on color. As a result, the white baseboard paint they chose looked different from the other trim, and we ended up needing to paint most of the trim in the house to match (we had started with a smaller list of rooms and doors). They started in one room, and I was able to see that this would be the case early in the project, so it wasn't a surprise later when we added more rooms. However, in the future, I would recommend looking at the color matching before any painting starts, and deciding whether you're comfortable with painting most of the trim. Ultimately, we were happy that we ended up painting more, as it looks good.

    Five Star Painting of Corona
I purchased the deal price.  It was unclear in the deal that I needed to purchase commonly used painter supplies like blue painters tape, either in advance of the service or through them on the day of the deal.  The painter was very courteous.  Unfortunately, too much paint was put on the bathroom door without sanding around the openings.  We did not use the bathroom right away.  A week later, we had a party and one of my guests got stuck in the bathroom because the door would not open.  She resorted to yelling out the second story window to get help. We had a hard time getting the door open.  My husband ended up getting a power sander out while we were having  the party so other people wouldn't get stuck in the bathroom.  It was loud and kind of ruined the party.

    SOD Builders
Despite our having to change the scheduled date twice, SOD Builders were extremely accommodating and very professional. They re-confirmed the appointment the day before and the contractor arrived punctually on the day of the appointment.
The contractor was knowledgeable about the various aspects of the work - plumbing, painting, and patching. We had several windows and door frames that were unfinished. The contractor patched, sanded and painted all the window trims and the doorway sashes.
Also, we had a water filter that had to be installed in the kitchen sink. The contractor ably connected the filter and ensured it was flowing and functioning properly.
I'm very happy with the work performed.

    Brother's Painting
I called Raffi 3 days ago to schedule him to come out and give an estimate for repainting the inside of my home. We agreed on a weekday between 4:30-5 pm. When it was 5:10 pm and he still didn't show, I called to ask if he was on his way. He answered the phone and I told him who I was and asked if he was on his way here. He said, "oh yeah, I'm supposed to come today." He then said he was stuck in traffic and just left another location, and would not be able to make it today and asked if he could give me a quote in a few days. He did not apologize for wasting my time or for not showing up. I told him not to bother. He seemed completely unaffected that he and just dropped the ball completely. If you are looking for a reliable, punctual painter, this is not the place to look.
