    Homeworx Construction & Plumbing
I originally purchased 4 hours of handyman services to install a storm-door that I purchased that came complete with all mounting/installation hardware.  After at first not showing up to our agreed upon scheduled date due to double booking himself, we rescheduled one month later only to find that the provider and his partner were unable to install the storm door.
As they examined the directions and tried to determine whether they would be able to install the door, it became apparent that they were not comfortable with proceeding with installation, to which they conceded.  I then directed them to perform some simple mounting tasks so that the time I had paid for did not go to complete waste.  They mounted a mirror, power-strip, towel rack to wall, and installed a shower head which took all of 2 hours to perform - which was all done well.
Because the provider did not show to our initial scheduled date, for which I took off a day from work, he was very remorseful and agreed to provide additional 4 hours of service due to the mix-up.  He agreed to install a sink I had present which I showed to him to check out before returning.  He examined the site above as well as the under-surface below the existing sink, and explained to me what the job would entail including removal of the tile and a time approximation for installation 4 hours. He performed measurements before he left the house to confirm that the sink would fit.  We then agreed upon a date for him to return to begin the project.
However, once he returned to install the sink, he then re-examined the under-surface again only to determine that the job now would require a complete removal of the plywood due to dry-rot and thus be a day-long 8-hour job.  Despite noting the dry rot upon his first inspection, he did not inform me this was a barrier to installation when we first scheduled the job.
I do believe that the provider was trying to be as honest as possible once he was finally here to do the job but it was apparent to me that upon his first inspection, he was more concerned with booking the job than with making an accurate assessment of the true extent of the job and give me a true estimate.
After all the back and forth with this handyman, I decided it would be better to cut my losses and hire someone more reliable and focused.  I believe this provider to be an honest worker, but it just seemed to me from all the back and forth and lack of clarity from him that he was a bit over-extended with his workload.

    Bay Easy Construction
My husband and I were looking for someone to expand our house, since our family is growing, and we now have three kids and wanted more space. We were looking online at a couple of different contractors when a good friend told us about Bay Easy Construction. Ofer and his crew were amazing from the beginning of the project to the end with getting the permits, complying with codes, and finishing the project only a week after the scheduled finish date. Sometimes when Ofer would come to our house if we were not home and at work, he would call us to give us updates on the work being done to make sure it satisfied and even exceeded our expectations. Jessie, the project manager, would also send us emails to communicate with us regarding any office-related issues.
Coming to the end of the project, we needed to change a big existing sliding door, and Armando and the guys took care of it in a total of three days. We were very lucky to have Ofer as our contractor, since he was able to get the new door from his supplier with his connections a day after we needed it. Bhumi, the designer, was very professional and great to work with; she went with me to pick up the materials.
Overall, it was great to work with a contractor who has his own guys. We now have the home of our dreams, and we are so happy with the work Bay Easy has done that we created a profile on Angie's List just to write this review just so we can pay it forward by spreadingthe word about this great company.

    Xtra Hand
The quality of their work was uniformly excellent and professional. The problem is that they are very non-responsive. Multiple phone calls and emails go unanswered, and it's difficult to schedule appointments. When I have managed to get appointments, they are weeks from the time I scheduled them. I asked them to take over a couple of jobs from start to finish--from planning to finishing (i.e., some shelves and an attic ladder) because I simply don't know what's involved in getting them done -- and they went absolutely nowhere. They refused to own the projects, which are dead in the water. When I've spoken to the owners about the problems I have had contacting them, getting appointments and getting answers to questions, they've made multiple excuses (computer problems, too busy and understaffed). I am giving up and moving my business to a company that is responsive and professional.

    Custom Exteriors Inc
    Hello Grayeagle,
We have been thinking of you and the crew at Custom Exteriors while the heatwave is upon us.  Last October you all did a fabulous job of installing Anlin Catalina windows on our San Leandro home.  Now that they are being put to the test we can report a 20 degree difference in temperature! When it is 90 on the back porch it is 70 in the kitchen (which faces south).
Thank you all so much for steering us to a wonderful product and for a very professional installation. We love it!!!

    American Sliding Door
    Ron did a fantastic job.
The door he repaired was completely non-functional when he started. Now it slides perfectly and almost silently.
He was in and out within a few hours. He cleaned up his workspace, the only way you would know that he was in our house is that the door now works.
He charged exactly what was quoted over the phone.
My husband and I are very impressed with his work and would recommend him to anyone who needs this service.

West Coast Windows & Doors Inc
Richard and Kelly along with their staff were wonderful!  Very professional, efficient, and definitely on top of things.  The work performed looks fantastic.  We had an extra front door where our office is located in our home that was replaced with a window.  The area was framed up nicely and the window looks great!  The texture and paint look awesome too!  You would never know there was a door there at one point!  It is important to me that I find professional companies that perform quality work as well as being efficient on the back end and West Coast Windows and Doors met that expectation!  I would definitely use them again!!

Mike's Mobile Screen & Chimney Service
Company waited for our house to be painted (4 months), after the door was made. Thank you!! Mike and Andrew are pleasant to talk to. The installers were great. Very friendly and professional. Knew their job and we're very careful getting the very large heavy door from the truck to the front door. Re-screened the rear sliding door with the solar screen. What a difference it makes! Very happy with everything.

Owner Mike was great from the first phonecall. I chose him based on his 'A' rating and good reviews on Angies List. He came out and did initial measurements, made recommendations and provided estimates for Amerimax and Milgard windows.  I did not obtain any other bids as I felt his was fair based on research done on the internet, and based on an' estimate' given to me by a contractor years back who did other work on the house.
I went with the Amerimax vinyl double paned windows. Mike took care of obtaining the city permit and advised me of the inspection process. The windows and door were ordered and arrived in about 3 weeks. Work then started within a few days and was completed in three full days by Mike's crew of 3 who were awesome.  They were professional, courteous, on time and were able to work around the excessive amount of furniture and 'stuff' all around the house. They took care to move or asked us to move some fragile keepsakes out of the way.  They also made sure to clean up any dirt and debris throughout the process.
Mike has been in the business many years and is very knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend him.  He and his crew provided experienced, quality, detailed workmanship.  My mother is very happy with her new windows and sliding door.  The house is now warmer, quieter and more secure.

    Carl Gaard's Work
Both project went extremely well.  Carl also fixed other problem areas in the house that weren't part of the original plan and he was able to do them quickly and effectively e.g. repaired/saved the old wooden garage side door other contractors had said to junk and replace with a new door and jam, fixed a drain leak in the upstairs bathroom a prior contractor had not installed correctly.
Carl showed up when he said he would and got the jobs done on time and within the quoted amounts.
I enjoyed having a true craftsman working on my houses.  I recommend him without any qualifications.  I'm sure he is very much in demand but if you can get him to work on your project it is worth the wait.
