  • Anthony Fruciano, the owner of Elite Fireplace, came out and analyzed our pellet stove problem. He went right to work to resolve the issues that had been plaguing us for some time. He was very professional and the price he charged was very reasonable. We are more than satisfied with the work done.

  • Tony is wonderful. Very helpful and full of information on anything from the type of chimney you have to the best methods for starting and maintaining a good fire to who to contact for great firewood. The work was done quickly and efficiently and there was no mess left behind. We will use them for all our future chimney and fireplace needs.

  • The experience was fine. They did a good job and they gave me a discount because I got them through Angie's List. They were available. They came, did the job and left. They did not try to sell me other things or anything. They inspected the chimney and told me what to expect in the future but there was no hard sell and I appreciated that. Their price was also good.

  • I love Golden State Firewood. This is the third or fourth time I have used their services. Scheduling an appointment online is easy, they promptly called to schedule a time for delivery. The day of the delivery, they arrived on time and were professional, courteous and clean. After unloading and stacking a full cord of firewood you would have never known they were there as they cleaned up all debris.

Once they left, I noticed that the cord was slightly short (they finished in the dark). I called to let them know and they were very apologetic and promptly came out to fill out the order to a full cord. If anything, I think they gave us slightly more than a cord.

I would highly recommend them to anyone!

  • My direct vent gas fireplace was acting up. Had another service person (from where we purchase the stove) come out and throw parts at the problem one afternoon. Got a call from that person's boss that I had to pay for an expensive replacement part to fix the problem. Not convinced that they had properly diagnosed the problem, I checked Yelp but did not see promising persons on it that would help me out. I then decided to finally take the plunge and sign up for Angie's List. Kidd carried my brand of stove, Regency, so I call them. Great staff, an appointment the next day even! Randy came out only 15 minutes late, but honed right in on diagnosing the problem properly. As the daughter of a mechanic, I know what this looks like when done right. His theory that the problem was caused by a spider in the valve proved to be correct, and we are cozy and warm this afternoon in the house, about one hour later. Kudos to Mr. Kidd. He's got this down.

  • Precision Roofing of Oakland exceeded our expectations?by light years! I interviewed eight vendors (five before joining Angie's List) about fixing a large dry-rot hole under the eves of my mother's roof, replacing our rain gutters and do some other repairs in preparation of painting her home. None of them generated the professionalism, the price and/or the minimum level of trust I required...until I contacted Precision Roofing in Oakland. Mr. Mike Green spent a good hour explaining not only what needed to be done but WHY the problems formed in the first place. He gave us a number of options and the costs/benefits of each. He answered every question I had and many I did not know to ask. This demonstrated two things to me: 1) Mike knows roofing inside and out (He started Precision Roofing 30+ years ago), and he was as concerned about our roof as he would be fixing his own. Mr. Green's integrity shined through when he told me I didn't need rain gutters on the 35-foot square workshop in our back yard. All the other vendors were only too happy to give me a price without mentioning that the work was not necessary. Right there, Mr. Green saved us nearly $1000! Precision's happy band of roofers showed up on time, turned on a radio and got right to work with impressive efficiency and enthusiasm that made the work site feel like a fiesta. (Most of the crew has been with Precision for well over 20 years which is why they are so fast and professional. (And says a great deal about well Mr. Green treats his employees.) In the process of tearing down the dry rot and old gutters, a good-sized pile of debris formed. I grumbled to myself that I was going to have to pay someone to haul it off but before they left on the morning of the third day, the crew tossed the debris into their truck and left my yard cleaner than it had been in originally. In short, we simply could not be more pleased with the work Precision Roofing performed?and how they did it. Come spring, my girl friend and I will contact Precision for some work on our home. Yes, Precision Roofing is THAT good!

  • I received a very detailed report from the inspection. Price quoted for repair was competitive with others I received. The company representative was courteous, timely, professional. Clean-up was excellent. I would definitey use these folks again.

  • I thought I had a lot of experience remodeling until I purchased this home. The previous owner's had not done any real maintenance for tens of years. When I first obtained bids from general contractors I thought their prices were high and the allowances for finishes very low. Most also thought it would be very difficult to complete the remodel with my partner and I living in the home and wanted us to find a temporary place. So I decided I needed to do a lot of the prep myself, sub-contract out major systems and find a general contractor that could bring me more value and work around us while the remodel happened. In addition, I knew that there were so many items that come up in a remodel that I needed flexibility and honesty from the contractor I dealt with (Change Orders can be death by a thousand cuts). So I hired a someone to draw up plans, submitted to the plans to the city, obtained a permit and went looking for someone small enough that I could have good relationship with but capable and able to complete the project. I am really thankfull that I found George. Remember that contractor on the old Murphy Brown show that basically lived at her house? Well that has been George for the last year. We started in August of 07 and are at the point now of finishing up a few items (due to supplier delay not his) and work on the yard. I did not take all of the home down to studs but almost, and George did everthing except the HVAC, Electrical, Deck and some plumbing. All the bathrooms were totally redone and I did not use the standard travertine tile or standard finshes. I used Grohe, Hans Grohe, glass tiles, matte finish subway tiles, 1" tiles; all had their idiosnycracies when being installed. I really don't think George had worked with most of these materials before but he thought it through and I get many compliments on my bathrooms. The kitchen remodel was pretty extensive in that we took a 10' x 11' room that after knocking down walls and and reconfiguring was turned into a 11 x 22 kitchen that I really love. One of the reasons that this remodel took so long was that I had to do it in stages and that meant waiting for materials, do the work and then working on the next stage. George was great at waiting for me to be ready for him. It was also great to have someone that could deal with the unexpected road blocks( for example finding extensive dry rot when we opened up an exterior wall to frame for new patio doors) . Like all human beings George is not perfect but when I found something I did not agree with he would explain to me why he did it that way and I would agree or he would agree to redo it. He really knows a lot about construction and will give you the best advice on how to handle an issue. If you are looking for a turnkey operation, GT is not going to be the right place but if you can sub contract other systems you are really going to get a affordable value and flexiblity from George at GT.

  • I called Doug and he was busy and promised a call back at 7:00PM. He never called. I called again a day later and left a message asking for a call back. He again did not bother to return call. Very unprofessional.

  • Martin came over and assessed the chimney and cleaned the entire chimney and showed us (non chimney girls) how the bricks were crumbling (too put it mildly!) in the lower portion of the chimney and the water damage that was, once we looked up the chimney and knew what we were looking at, very obvious. We scheduled an appointment and 2 days later a crew was over and totally repaired the chimney. They were prompt, neat and tidy and it looks great and it works! They cleaned everything up, left not a bit of mess and did not do any damage to the hardwood floors in the room.
