Although I am required to put a specific date in for service, I have tried using this facility many times over the past few years. I need their pool for doctor ordered exercises but each time I go I am so replulsed at the filth of this facility. From gobs of hair in the showers, to a 1/4 inch of water standing around the lockers, to dust bunnies around the weight machines it all makes me want to r...

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I work out in the pool, and on the machines.

Jerry s step class at the San Leandro location is the absolute best. Interesting choreography and fast beat. Good music & good sense of rhythm certain moves are on the off beat, but that is by design not because he s unaware of the beat. (I just hate it when the leader is oblivious to the beat) Excellent mix of introducing new combos & calling out old ones (there s a huge repertoire built up). You...

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Back in 2000, paid $996 for 3 year all club (sport) membership, plus 3-5 (can t remember how many) sessions w/ a personal trainer, then $149/year thereafter. I was not interested in the personal training sessions (never used them), just wanted the all club membership. So I saw it as $27.66/month for 36 months, and $12.42 per month from then on. Looks like there are better deals now, but I go often enough to get my $ worth. My monthly rates have remained the same since 2003, so you could say I ve paid an average of $17.64 per month, and every year I stay in that average gets lower. I get to use most of the Bay Area clubs, including the San Leandro Magic Johnson Sport. Don t have access to Super Sport clubs, the only such club I know of in the Bay Area is in San Ramon. Believe this is more of an issue in SoCal, where there are more Super or Ultra Sport facilities.

Joining process was fairly painless, just sitting at a table and filling out forms. The San Leandro (Magic Johnson Gym) is pretty crowded after work and the facility used for classes is a bit dirty on the floor. It's used for all types of classes, and I felt uncomfortable walking barefoot for the yoga class. Bathrooms need to be cleaner.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Joined the gym during a promo period for $699, including 3 year membership and all upfront fees. After the 3 years, it will be $29 each year thereafter.
