  • Back in November 2006 Aplus Interior Design did a reface on our kitchen cabinets. Our kitchen turned out beautiful and we have been very happy with the workmanship they did. 12 years later I called them and talked with Bob Sinbari ask if he would come out and look at our cabinets. We had some areas around the hardware, few scratches and few small areas where the finish looked funny. Bob came out and said they would be happy to fix those areas since our cabinets look so good after 12 years. Dave came out and fixed everything in one day and now our kitchen looks like brand new again. I would highly recommend Aplus Interior Design & Remodeling.

  • For those of you who want the short version: horrible customer service and communication, hired sub-contractor who he had never worked with before, 5 weeks past quoted timeline, unprofessional. For those of you who want the full review: I did a lot a research before hiring Pro-Tec. I was looking for a local contractor who could perform a small sized master bathroom remodel project. The project consisted of demo and haul away, installation of marble tiles, vanities, stand up shower, relocating a wall by a foot and moving the electrical/plumbing, etc. I had three contractors come out and Sonny was the most attentive. He lives very close to my house so he stopped by three times to go over things before the project started. I was impressed and felt he understood what I wanted the most of the three who I met with. He and his company had good reviews online (which now I wonder if they are even real and recent reviews) and his contractor’s license is clear and current with the state board, so I hired him even though he was not the least expensive of the three bids I got. Keeping in mind that I still had to order, pay, and pick up the marble tiles, the vanities, the toilet, and all the fixtures. So my bid was just labor, demo, haul away, installation, and working materials. This company is not full service in that manner. He told me that the project time line would be three weeks and I responded that seemed like a long time for such a small project. He said it was the time he needed and that they may finish sooner but three weeks was what he needed and we agreed upon. He came on the day selected to go over things and the project started shortly after. Every week Sonny would text me asking for a payment and not for any other reason or to check how the project was going. I made the payments as requested even though progress was very slow. Each day a worker or maybe two would arrive around 10am or later (some days not until the late afternoon). Most days it was just one worker. Some days he took days off for personal reasons. No one told us he wasn’t coming. I had to contact Sonny why there was not any work being done at the house. The worker did as much as one person can do in a day. He would stay until 6-7pm most days. On the second week we were concerned and expressed it. We were assured that the worker would be done on time. On the third week we informed Sonny of how disappointed we were with how the project was being handled and that they were nowhere near being done. Again, we were assured the project would be done. Even though at this point the tile hadn’t even been started! Every time we asked, he would say it will be done by the coming Saturday. Everything went from bad to worse from here. I learned that the worker that was doing my project had never worked for Sonny before and that he was a sub-contractor. So even though I hired Pro-Tec and trusted Sonny, he hired someone else he’s never used before to do my project for him. If I wanted some random worker to do my project I could have found that myself and saved time and money. Every time I confronted Sonny about the progress he would blame it on something else which was not true or blame the worker. We have remodeled several times and know the process and timelines for such things so lying to us does not help. It just makes it worse. Now we are on week four and completely irritated when Sonny comes by the house and has the nerve to ask for another payment, I told him that I would not pay another penny until serious progress had been made. The workers being stressed out by Sonny and is trying his best to complete the project but it’s a big job for one person. Some days he’d stay until 11 or 12pm when we really needed him to leave so we could go to sleep. On weeks five, six, seven more of the same. Hardly hearing from Sonny unless I contacted him to complain or ask a question, the worker here 10am-? just trying to get the project done. The worker was visibly frustrated and so were we. We felt trapped in this project and contract with Sonny. This project went on so long (started 4/23 and completed 6/25) we had to cancel several important events that we usually host, Memorial day, Mother’s day, Father’s day, etc. I cannot express how much I regret hiring and trusting this company with my project. Things in my house were damaged during the process due to carelessness; the whole house was a disaster for the time they worked inside and keeping it clean was very difficult. Dust and debris everywhere. Furniture , floors, and stairs started off covered but once it was so dirty and dusty we had to remove it, they never replaced it. A stair banister corner was damaged, it was repaired but it’s not the same. The finish on our floors was damaged and will need to be replaced. They left stains on the driveway from products and leaking trucks, just a mess. Finally, they finished just shy of 8 weeks! The project is done now and it came out fine for the most part. The result is what I’m sure any contractor would do. Nothing great or above and beyond or better than average…just done. The icing on the cake, the night the worker finished doing the last of the touch ups, not even an hour later Sonny texts me asking for the final payment! WOW! This shows the kind of person he is and now you know what you can expect.

  • We were impressed with Do It Right's Aviran Bar-Lev's initial presentation and proposal after obtaining two other quotes from contractors. I called ten different contractors in our area and only three even agreed to come and give us an estimate. Aviran provided us with 3-D renderings of our new bathroom so we could see exactly what it would look like. The project consisted of a tub to shower conversion, extensive tile work, reface existing 8-ft vanity, new quartz countertop, flooring, paint, new sinks and faucets, new toilet, lighting, additional electrical outlets, two new ceiling vents, new medicine cabinet, new towel bars. Project got under way on Feb. 12th with demo. All the workers through all phases of the remodel were friendly and skilled in their trade. We had a hitch with the flooring because the old linoleum floor was solidly glued down and couldn't be removed. It was decided to remove the cement floor to the wood sub-floor and re-pour concrete. This delayed the job by about a week. Then we went on vacation and didn't want work to continue while we were away. Aviran and the folks from Arizona Tile in San Juan Capistrano helped us choose fabulous flooring and tile that perfectly complemented the Cambria quartz we just had to have. The tile work is exquisite! Aviran was available to answer all my questions and resolve any issues we had. The project finished on Apr. 30th. We are thrilled with our new bathroom and have recommended Do It Right to our family and friends.

  • We had been considering a home renovation to include a living area floor plan and kitchen remodel for about 10 years. We were unsure of the exact design and extremely concerned about finding a competent contractor. We’d heard so many negative stories from friends and neighbors regarding bad experiences with contractors that we kept putting off the decision to get the project started. Finally talked to a Real Estate friend who had worked with a contractor, Robert Sappo, on several projects including one on his own home with positive results. So, we pulled the trigger and scheduled a ‘meet and greet’ with Robert. We asked a lot questions and picked his brain pretty thoroughly and Robert asked a lot questions to determine what we were looking for and how realistic we were budgetarily. One of the most critical points he made was that he only works on one project at a time and that was huge for me. As I mentioned earlier we knew we wanted to open up our old 1975 floorplan and do a living, dining, kitchen renovation but not sure exactly what was going to work best for us. During that first meeting Robert was able assess what we were looking for and suggested a floorplan redesign which included wall removals, window and sliding door repositioning and a kitchen expansion. These were ideas that we hadn’t thought of until he pointed them out. We were impressed with his creativity and decided to hire Robert and go forward with the project. The rest is history, Robert guided us through every step of the process. He assisted us in the selection of all the product and materials we would need to complete the project. He even escorted us to all of the providers of cabinets, appliances, flooring, granite and backsplash tile. As the project began Robert’s knowledge and experience became immediately apparent. The sequencing and scheduling of events was very orderly. He was very aware of the disruption a project like this can create and was extremely considerate and went out of his way to keep us as functional as possible at the end of every day. He even provided a portable kitchen sink with counter and dishwasher which he hooked up at the end of each day. He was always punctual, showed up when he said he would and there was a very minimal amount of down time throughout the project. As a project like this progresses there are always changes and add-ons as you move along and he always readily and easily accommodated them with no objection. Robert performs virtually all of the work himself, he is a man of many skills. The quality of his work is exceptional. He is a real craftsman, he's extremely conscientious and demands of himself the best quality possible. A project of this magnitude could have been frustrating and disappointing had we chosen a different contractor. Working with Robert was none of that, it has been a pleasure. We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this renovation. It was completed to our complete satisfaction in terms of schedule and quality.   • Where do I begin with this review. I hired Alan and Builderwell to do a whole home remodel based on these yelp reviews and the photos he provided in the listing. It's too bad I didn't scrutinize the photos more closely as when I went back through them, I realized that many are photos from the new home construction at the Tustin Legacy. Specifically, look at the photos dated May 4, 2016. The photo of the loft (with 3 identical laptops lined up) is clearly a model home as are all of the other photos with that date. My home is the project with the photos dated July 10, 2017. Alan is the most unprofessional contractor I have ever encountered, and that is saying a lot. In retrospect, I should have suspected his attitude and arrogance when he told me he would refuse to provide a detailed estimate unless I agreed to work with him. Stupidly, I agreed based on a rough estimate. If you work with Alan, I would write everything down because other than a single occasion, he will never take ownership of a mistake, will lie and say that you did (or did not) tell him something when you did and not accept responsibility for mistakes his crew makes. As an example, we bought solid wood baseboards. Alan's crew could not install them properly for some reason, leaving large gaps at the tops. Alan blamed it on the material (in his eyes, MDF baseboards are a superior material to wood), the walls (they were crooked, despite the fact that in 2 of the rooms where the issue occurred, his team replaced the drywall), or that I was too picky (when I asked that his team paint over the black silicone they used to fill in the gap). In another example, I specifically asked that he purchase the grout that had epoxy built in as it would fight stains better. He said he did, but his crew tracked dirt over the new grout and when he brought someone in to clean it (the stains remained), the cleaner spread epoxy all over my gleaming floors, leaving them looking scratched and damaged. Again, I was told I was too picky. I had to hire someone to walk around on their hands and knees and use a putty knife to scrape up all the epoxy (over 1300 sq feet). I'm still finding areas that were missed one year later. The final explosion was related to the hood in the kitchen. We went with Alan because we liked a specific hood design in one of the photos (that I now know to be from a model home). I ordered the insert and showed Alan the specifications. It was not until it was time to install that Alan said it was the wrong hood for the design I wanted. Fine - we modified it. The wood trim was supposed to go to the bottom of the stainless steel hood so that it was flush. His crew left 1/2 inch of stainless steel showing and Francisco (his lead guy) tried to claim that it was the design. This lead to a shouting match with Alan because he wanted his stain guy to do the work on the incorrect trim and I sent him away. Eventually he came and finished it, but only because I had withheld the final payment. In addition, despite the fact that I specifically requested maple to match the cabinets, another type of wood was used that has a completely different grain. I will eventually have to redo it. The reason for the delay in the review is that I did not want to alienate him because I knew repairs would be necessary. For example - his guys did not seal the windows, so during the first rains of the season, water streamed in. He tried to delay coming, but when I told him he would be responsible for all damages flowing from the water he showed up. This was after his crew claimed they came over but no one answered the door. I was met with silence when I sent Alan a screen shot of our ring doorbell app to show that no one rang the bell and we were home waiting for him. A patio door is falling off its hinges. He claimed it was the manufacturer's problem. I called the manufacturer who came out and inspected it and said it was an installation issue. Alan again claimed he sent a guy but the guards at the gate turned them away because it was after hours. Once again, I sent him a photo of the guard gate sheet showing when work was allowed to be done. Again silence. Alan has refused to fix this (there were other items I just paid for out of a desire to avoid him - he will be paying for those shortly). If you want any proof of his attitude, his refusal to fix mistakes, or my overall experience, please email me and I will forward you many of the emails I kept. Unfortunately, I deleted the text messages that constituted the vast majority of our correspondence because I was happy to be rid of him and wanted him out of my life and my phone.

  • Sonny and his team were amazing. The quality of work was exceptional. There were a few things that didn't go as originally planned, but they found alternatives that worked great. I always felt like Sonny did whatever he could to do right by us, especially with the items that were outside of original plan. And he was always available with a quick reply to me when I had questions (which was a lot so that is really saying something!)

  • He said at contract time that it takes him 20 to 30 days to complete the job. But he took his time and turned over the job after 4 months with many fights and arguments and extra charges. He is not checking the progress and quality of the job and his workers are taking advantage of him so in turn he takes his frustration to customer and asks for more money. His estimate is not accurate and he does not understand design and has no advice for doing better.

  • Tim Groballi did a great job remodeling the main bathroom. We are so pleased with the experience and results that we we are hiring him to remodel the master bath as well. Tim explained each step of the way and gave us advice on material selection, color choices with design, usability and cost considerations in mind. Tim treated our project as if it were his own home. Key steps of the project included: 1) Removal of Tub, Vanity, Flooring 2) Level of entire floor and creation of a walk in shower 3) Adding soundproofing to bathroom walls 4) Plumbing of toilet, sink & shower 5) Tile and stonework of shower & vanity 6) Flooring 7) Electrical - including spotlights in shower and new fan

  • 10 day luxury kitchens did a wonderful job in transforming our 40-year-old kitchen into a great looking modern kitchen with beautiful finishing's. We were happy with their work and would recommend them if you are looking for a company to remodel your kitchen. They also created a custom buffet and counter height table which is not only functional, but gorgeous!
