  • The project went very smoothly, and DoItRight Remodeling does just that! Their professionalism, quality of workmanship and attention to details are superb. They are also very responsive to the Client. DoItRight Remodeling is an excellent company, and I highly recommend them.

  • We were impressed with Do It Right's Aviran Bar-Lev's initial presentation and proposal after obtaining two other quotes from contractors. I called ten different contractors in our area and only three even agreed to come and give us an estimate. Aviran provided us with 3-D renderings of our new bathroom so we could see exactly what it would look like. The project consisted of a tub to shower conversion, extensive tile work, reface existing 8-ft vanity, new quartz countertop, flooring, paint, new sinks and faucets, new toilet, lighting, additional electrical outlets, two new ceiling vents, new medicine cabinet, new towel bars. Project got under way on Feb. 12th with demo. All the workers through all phases of the remodel were friendly and skilled in their trade. We had a hitch with the flooring because the old linoleum floor was solidly glued down and couldn't be removed. It was decided to remove the cement floor to the wood sub-floor and re-pour concrete. This delayed the job by about a week. Then we went on vacation and didn't want work to continue while we were away. Aviran and the folks from Arizona Tile in San Juan Capistrano helped us choose fabulous flooring and tile that perfectly complemented the Cambria quartz we just had to have. The tile work is exquisite! Aviran was available to answer all my questions and resolve any issues we had. The project finished on Apr. 30th. We are thrilled with our new bathroom and have recommended Do It Right to our family and friends.

  • Do yourself a favor and hire Tiffany! She quickly evaluated our style (or lack thereof!) and selected paint colors for us to choose from. She had some great, cost effective, ideas for us that we also will incorporate. She ended up helping us select wallpaper and created her Home Style Kit with recommendations for specific art and accessories to complement our overall look. Her recommendations were stylish, very reasonably priced, and readily available at local and online retailers. She recommended painting, woodwork and wallpaper contractors that she works with, and we've found them to be very knowledgeable and do great work.

  • Tiffany helped me select and arrange furniture, accessories and art in my home. She was extremely easy to work with and was very helpful. She took into consideration my personal, cherished art and budget. Her ideas were fresh and constructive, at times helping me think outside the box and yet, honoring my tastes and limits. She was very friendly, professional and timely. She designed it in such a way that I would have never thought of, and I am very happy with the end result.

  • We were so disappointed with Horizon. We feel completely taken advantage of. This company tried to lock us in by charging us $4,500 for plans but then refused to give us any type of itemized quote for the project.

We are in the process of a major kitchen remodel. We found Horizon on Angie’s List and Mark (the owner) came out to look. We told him our max budget, and he had some good ideas on a design, so we decided to move forwards with him. He told us the first thing we needed to do was to have them draw up plans for $4,500 (plus all the city fees). We knew they were overpriced, but this being our first major project we assumed this was normal and that we were in essence paying to have a designer/contractor who would stay with us through the entire project.

That was back in December. We finally received our plans in April. We had planned to try to start the work in February, which Mark had told us we could probably do. Some of the delay was the city and their extremely slow processes, some of it was a design change we made, but the majority of it was Horizon themselves. They seemed to show very little interest in moving forward with the project and communication was poor. We had to continuously call them to chase them up, and ended up calling them every Monday for several weeks until they finally got moving.

Worst of all, we could never get an itemized quote from them for what the work was going to cost. We kept asking and Mark would just tell us we would have to wait until the plans were complete. We told him we would be happy with just rough estimates, but he still refused. Eventually, he just verbally quoted some total figures which were actually 50% higher than the budget we had told him in the first place, and we still never received anything written.

So we began getting other contractors to start some of the smaller jobs while we were waiting, something we had told Mark we would do and he had said would be fine. Once we informed him we had done this, though, his whole attitude towards us changed. We had a very frustrating phone call where we once again asked him to give us an itemized quote of the various jobs we needed done - he refused and basically told us he would deliver the plans and “then we could talk”. It was very obvious at that point that all he wanted was his $4,500 and to be rid of us because we wanted him to provide actual numbers.

We eventually received our plans, and then they actually asked if we wanted to pay for city permits in their name so they could do the work - trying to lock us in again for work they wouldn’t even quote! We said no, not until they sent us a quote, and we never heard from Horizon again. Basically, we wasted $4,500 on plans we’re not even going to use. Did they deliver what they said they would? Technically yes, but we feel completely ripped off because we would not have paid $4,500 for a piece of paper if we had known the contractor was just going to ditch us when it looked like he wouldn’t make enough from the job.

We feel this is a very unprofessional and deceitful company. It seems obvious that they are trying to hide their costs by refusing to give itemized quotes. And if you really need proof as to how unprofessional Horizon is, just read some of their responses to the negative reviews on this site. I’m sure this review will generate a similarly unprofessional response full of excuses as to why they were right and the customer was wrong; they apparently lack any concept of customer service.

In summary, if you care about your budget then stay right away from Horizon, and certainly don’t get suckered into spending $4,500 on their plans! We recently completed a part of the work that Mark had quoted (an upstairs part) and spent only about half of what Horizon had verbally quoted us (we used two A rated companies from Angie’s List and they did a fantastic job). We have now found a great new contractor who is giving us itemized quotes for everything.

  • It was good once she got there. A couple of times we made appointments and she didn't show up initially. Once she got there, I thought she was helpful. We had an appointment on April 14. And then, we had an appointment on April 21. Both of those dates got messed up. The first day, I had her down for 10 o'clock and then when I called her going, "Where are you?" She says, "Oh no. It's supposed to be for 12 o'clock." I'm like, "No because I was supposed to be somewhere else." On 21st, at 10 o'clock, Tuesday of April, she said it was like on a Wednesday and I'm like, "No because I have to work that day." I was a little flustered. So I waited till August to reschedule. On that one, she showed up a little late and she was out in her car on the phone for 10 minutes. But then, once she came in and spent the two hours, she gave me some good ideas. There was no extra cost beyond the deal price. The price was a good deal for two hours. She could have shown up when she was supposed to.

  • Debi was very energetic and extremely professional. I really loved the suggestions. She picked all the paint colors, carpet and flooring and did and outstanding job. Her grasp of interior design was phenomenal. I will definitely use her again.

  • .Sandy Craig was outstanding.  She guided me from before the construction began, thru, and following the completion.  She observed my style and listened to my likes, dislikes and my goals then incorporated all into a beautiful kitchen and living room.  She used much of what I already had which helped to minimize my costs and keep things important to me.  She quickly zoned in on my colors (her expertise) and my style.  She advised me on selection of counters, backsplash, floor tiles, appliances, exhaust fan, chandelier in breakfast nook,  farm sink, faucet, paint colors, and accessories.
Her advice was invaluable to me and she was worth every dollar.  I couldn't have done it without her services.  In the living room she she helped me to  arrange my pictures and decorative items and wow what a difference.  By rearranging she made the room looked beautiful, orderly and no longer cluttered with my too many collectables.
This is the first time I've used an interior designer and I am a frugal person.  I will absolutely ask her to help me again as I update other rooms in the house.  She helped me so much in my decision making.  She is enthusiastic, easy to work with and strives to give her clients what they want.

  • For this remodel, I was not interested in the latest fads.  Instead, I wanted improvements that fit my tastes and be comfortable in the long term.  As a standard for evaluating candidate remodeling contractors, I provided them with a basic written outline of what I wanted, but also encouraged them to propose changes, additions, and to critique my ideas.
Using online reviews and recommendation from friends and neighbors, I ended up evaluating a total of  seven remodeling contractors. With the exception of Michael Davidson at Pegasus, the contractors I evaluated turned out to be either designers or builders.
I contacted the first four remodeling contractors because of their very high online ratings.  These four turned out to be primarily designers with little construction know-how.  Consequently, they were not good at practical problem solving--a critical part of planning the remodel of this 42 year old house.  Their proposals were rote, poorly adapted to my house, and not acceptable.
When the online ratings proved not fruitful, I turned to friends, neighbors, and reliable trades people. This produced a new list of
three highly recommended contractors, all of whom turned out to be primarily builder types.  They were all top notch, in high
demand, very knowledgeable, and had much better approaches than the designers.  Of the three, Michael Davidson of Pegasus stood out because he had a very good sense of design combined with practical building knowledge. Consequently, he was much more skilled in developing design solutions that fit my house.  Unlike all the other contractor candidates,
he invited me to review his projects that were completed and underway.  I was impressed with his work and approach.  In the process  I talked with more of his client homeowners and they were enthusiastically pleased with his work.
When doing the work on my house, he was receptive to what I wanted rather than imposing his preconceptions.   He was resourceful and innovative, devising practical solutions for modifications and designs that were big improvements to the project. He knew the materials and the suppliers.  He took me to the wholesalers to review fixtures, tile, marble, granite, flooring, etc.,and helped me choose by giving excellent feedback on design and explaining the pros and cons of the materials.  As an
example of his helpfulness and attention to detail, we first determined what kinds of colors and patterns I preferred for the new surfaces in the bathrooms and kitchen.  Then he took me to a stone supplier that had the best slabs of marble and granite that fit my preferences.  Among the slabs he guided me in choosing the ones that had the patterns that would best fit the sizes, shapes, and cutouts of my counter tops.  From there he worked directly with the fabricator to assure the slabs were cut to align the patterns in the stone to the layout of the counter tops.  His skilled attention continued to selecting the tile material, color, sizes, shapes, and the tile layout design so that it all all worked together well.
All of this was a really big help that most other contractors would not provide in such depth. He had a very good team of skilled
sub-contractors who offered additional expert advice and did exceptional work.  Through the whole remodeling process he was a pleasure to work with. He communicated well and was a good sounding board for my ideas, giving very welcome feedback--including suggesting better ways.   In the end, all of this produced improvements that were much better than my original
vision, and a quality of work that exceeded my expectations.

  • I purchased a Big Deal coupon from them.  She is great.  I have hired her for some work in my house.  She was wonderful and showed up on time.  She had great ideas and communicated well.  She is very prompt in answering emails and came out here.
