Oral Surgery reviews in San Dimas

The very first time I went to Dr. Compean I was really pleased. The office was clean, and the staff were friendly, professional and well-organized. The cleaning went well, and they had nice digital photography of the teeth as well as digital x-rays. I was curious about orthodontics and they immediately set up an appointment with the orthodontist, and I met with their benefits administrator. Dr. Compean did try to sell me a special toothbrush (for which he is an authorized distributor). I was pleased with my visit and scheduled my next cleaning right away. The second visit, I no longer had my same insurance, so when I showed up to my appointment, they told me I *had* to purchase their insurance (can't remember if it cost $100 or $200 per year), which would then permit me to have a cleaning for a $100 co-pay. They told me I could not just pay for the cleaning out of pocket and that buying their so-called insurance was the only possibility. I was outraged and left without receiving service. This past summer, I desperately needed a teeth cleaning because it had been a while. I figured that since I was back on my insurance, that maybe Dr. Compean's office wouldn't be so bad. I was wrong!! First of all, I spent an hour just doing things like x-rays and waiting around for the dentist. When the dentist came, he barely scraped at my teeth before noticing 3 cavities, at which point, he summoned the benefits administrator. I had to wait another 20 minutes for her to arrive, and which point she explained that my co-pay for the treatment would be $1500 -- that's ON TOP of what the insurance was going to pay them (I wonder what my insurance company would think if they knew)! I was absolutely horrified. This wasn't a root canal -- just fillings (and they were insistent that I would need one inlay rather than a regular filling) I told them I needed to think about it before scheduling anything. Then I waited around some more before the dentist finally "finished" my cleaning (which wasn't a very thorough cleaning). At this point, I'm never going back there. I found another dentist who filled my (now 4) cavities for only $500 copay.
