    Whang, Dr. Karen
Minimally invasive surgery was performed. A one-night hospital stay was required. Adequate pain medication was prescribed post hospital. Followup treatment was done. Dr. Whang is a skilled physician.

    William Goodson MD
Dr. Goodson performed a partial mastectomy.  Prior to the surgery, he spent over an hour with my husband and me discussing my condition and the procedure.  After the procedure, I was able to come in for an unlimited number of appointments although I didn't need that many.  Everything was explained clearly, my concerns were always addressed.  I wouldn't want to go through this again but it was a positive experience and the results are amazing.  You would never know I had the surgery.

    Palo Alto Medical Foundation
I have had a very good relationship overall with my oncologist, beginning in 2008. As usual, she took adequate time with me, answered my questions, and checked me thoroughly. She is thorough and patient with me always. She worked with me with my diagnosis of Stage III breast cancer through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. When I had difficulty with chemo she adjusted the dose and at one point, laid me off entirely for a couple of weeks. Following treatment I was prescribed an aromatase inhibitor, which gave me severe joint pain. She put me on another medication that I was able to handle. Now, she checks me every three months to make sure I am not showing symptoms. She's very encouraging and supportive.

    Robert Aycock MD FACS
I checked two physicians, and at Dr Aycock's practice, I met with a clinical care coordinator who evaluated my needs and expectations, shared with me her personal experience with breast augmentation, her lay person's view of silicone versus saline implants, experiences of others who had bletharoplasty, and tried on different breast sizes for "comparison" I also talked with Dr Aycock about the procedures and his training. He observed the underlying cause of why one breast appeared larger than the other (not atypical at all) and commented how he did not want to change the shape of my eye, but could see where he could cut and even 'flare' the outside of the eye. He even diagnoosed a slight case of excema on my eyelid to be treated before surgery. And this was all before I commited to even selecting him to do my procedure! The other physician, while wholly competent (Dr Aycock's staff even recommended him), didn't have these added service features, nor did he offer me a pain pump to help with the post-op discomfort. Before the surgery, I was prescribed pain & antinausea medication as well as antibiotics. I was given clear pre and post operative instructions. The surgery was performed at a prviate outpatient surgery center in Greenbrae (Marin). While this was a distance from where my consultation was, it was not subjecxt to schedule changes of a hospital-based surgery center. Having worked in some hospitals in the past, this outpatient center was adequate, clean, well lit, and could have been a hospital-based center had I not seen the outside. I think was even accredited. The staff were friendly, professional and attentive. The anesthesiologist was employed by the surgery center and because of the arrangement with Dr Aycock, I was billed once for the entire procedure (paid before the surgery) and not billed multiple times by different providers and the facility. After the surgery, I was sent home with a pain pump a reminder of the postop instructions (verbally to the person who accompanied me to/from the surgery). Iced and medicated for the next two days, a nurse called to follow up within 24 hours to see how I was doing. 2 days later, I met with Dr Aycock to see how I was doing and had the pain pump removed. 4 days later, one of the nurses I saw pre-op carefully removed the stitches on my upper eyeld (no pain), and 5 days later, on a Saturday, the nurse again called to see how I was doing and answer any additional questions I had. She gave me her cell phone number in case I had any questions over the weekend. I'm one week post surgery, please with the results of both my eyelid and breast surgeries so far, and have at least one more post-op visit with the doctor to see how I'm healing. I believe I will have another visit in the future to see if things are "settling into place." Dr Aycock and his staff made the overall experience very positive and more than just a clinical procedure.

    Eileen Consorti MD
I like her. I've been seeing her over the years. She is really excellent in her field. She is very thorough and very dedicated. The staff is always really nice and friendly. She is pretty busy because she is good. She is very available if you plan a month or more out. If it is an emergency, she will get you in right away. The office is nothing exciting. She can be curt because she is busy. She is excellent at what she does and that is why people go to her. She is excellent at communicating.
