Appliance Parts & Service Center Inc

washer and water was coming from under the drywall behind the washer. We were charged only the $49.95 fee, even though he really investigated the washer top to bottom.

I think we usually have the same fellow who comes out; our washer and dryer are several years old, so it is understandable that there are issues with them. However, the technician never seems to have a problem knowing just what to do to solve the problem. Has worked on both the washer and dryer at least once a year for the past 6 years. He always remembers us and remembers what he's done in prior visits. With all the clients he has seen between appointments, I think it is remarkable that he remembers our appliances and us.

I would recommend Appliance Parts & Service Center to everyone in the Covina area. Very efficient and reliable service.

First the work was done professionally.   The service man arrived on time and did a through job.  I have no qualms about the quality of the work performed.

However, I absolutely was dissatisfied with the price.  When I called and scheduled the appointment, I asked Ronnie what the approximate cost would be.  At that point, since I specifically asked, he could have told me their hourly rate, but said instead the service man would give me a quote.  After he surveyed the job he told us that the job would be over $400 and that they charged $175 an hour.  We protested and at that point since we had gone through Angie's list he would give us a 10% discount.

We did decide to get the work done since he was there.  The job took about 1hour and 45 minutes.  When he was done, he asked if his boss had quoted us the $39.00 call fee and I replied he had not so he said "well, then I won't charge you."

I don't think the work was worth almost $200 an hour, and while we DID agree to the work, my motto is once burned, twice learned.

So if you decide to use R. K. Knight, be sure you understand the price structure before they dispatch.  The service man has a prepriced list, so there should be no reason they couldn't give you an estimate or at least an hourly rate before when you call.

Sharp Appliance AC & Heating Repair Co
Fred is professional and very competent. He answered our call on a Saturday morning and said he would be at our address within the hour. He met the time commitment! He had the necessary replacement parts and completed the repair in a very reasonable amount of time. He cleaned up the work area. We were able to get on with our day with no inconvenience or worries. We have attached his card to the fridge in case of future need.

Although we did have to reschedule due to the repairman falling ill the day originally planned for, the day he was able to come he was prompt,  very clean and very courteous. He was friendly,  yet wasted no time with unnecessary small talk.  Big pluses in my book. In addition to my Angie's list coupon,  he deducted an additional 10 dollars for the delay in service due his being ill. While he was here,  I mentioned an issue we were having with our heater, having noticed the signage on his truck stating that they also did heating and A/C repair.  He took the time to climb his ladder and take a look,  despite having other appointments, deduced the problem and I will receive a call Monday with a no obligation estimate.  I call that "service".All in all,  very pleased with the work and appreciative of the discounts as it was a more expensive repair than I had anticipated.  I would definitely call them again,  likely for the heater and would recommend them to my neighbors as well.  A very pleasant experience.

The dryer was slow drying our clothes, with little or no heat being produced. I called Sears to repair our Kenmore as usual and scheduled an appointment for 4 days later (soonest available). On the scheduled day, we received a call saying that the appointment would have to be rescheduled. I called that day, but was told that they could not send the repairman until 5 days later. Angrily, I pointed out that the dryer by that time would be down 10 days since I first called in and that it was not my fault that they had to reschedule. Before hanging up on the guy, he had made the rescheduled appointment. In the meantime, I checked Angie's List and found APCO. Connie had someone available to come out the next day. Before the tech arrived, he gave me a courtesy call. Dave, the tech, was clean, well-dressed, and was professional. He tested the machine and explained that the solenoid sensor was defective and that he had the part. I gave him the okay. He replaced the part, but before doing so, vacuumed out the inner workings. At my request, since he already had the dryer apart, he replaced the dryer drum belt. The total price for the repair was $162.00 (parts and labor). In comparison, Sears was going to charge me $149.00 just for the service call. I was very pleased with APCO and will use them again the future. Oh, I got a call from Sears on the rescheduled day that the repairman was supposed to come out. They cancelled AGAIN and instructed me to call in and reschedule another appointment!

    D & J Appliance Service Inc
I called D&j Appliances to come and give me an estimate to repair both my washer and dryer. They came quickly (within two days) and gave us a estimate. The serviceman was very nice and knowledgeable. I was told the parts needed to be ordered and would take about 5-7 days. I waited 6 days and called to check if the parts had come and was told that no they had not come in yet. I called again on the 8th day (which was a Friday) and was told that the dryer part had been there for a few days but they were waiting for the washer part to arrive before coming out to do the work. They felt for sure the part would be there by Monday and they tenitively booked me on Tuesday for the repair guy to come and do the repairs. Monday I called and was told the part still wasn't there. It was now 11 days later, I had a very large pile of dirty clothes and one unhappy mama. I had called the Maytag a few month previous to inquire about ordering a boot for the washer and was told there was an appliance dealer 13 miles from me who sold the part. I called D&J Appliance and asked them where they were purchasing the parts from, thinking it must have been across the country only to find it was the same appliance dealer that was 13 miles away. ( 18 miles from their business). I told D&J to cancel the washer boot and I would drive to the appliance dealer and buy the part myself and I wanted them to come and repair the dryer and install the boot. Luckily, I had the repair appointment for the next day (Tuesday). I asked if they could get an early morning appointment and was told no because of the way they plan their route for the day. I was told they would be here between 3-5 pm. He arrived after 5 pm and finished after 6 pm. I was his last appointment of the day. Three things made me very unhappy with this company's service. #1 I can understand them not wanting to make two trips to do two repairs, but since the dryer part came in and it was already 7 days and no sign of the washer part you would think they might offer to come and do the repair on the dryer. I could still use the washer but not the dryer and so would have appreciated getting it repaired sooner. #2 I would have appreciated them changing their route to accomodate me as they were 5 days later getting the job done then quoted.....really it could have been longer if I had not gone to pick up the washer part. #3 I paid $81.50 for the washer boot and they had quoted me $114.00 for the same part. The serviceman that came to do the quote and repairs was very nice and did a good job and gave me some good information., but as far as the company's service I was not at all happy and definitely would not refer them to anyone.

This is a difficult case because we had to work with the homeowner warranty company.  Overall, no one was motivated to get the problem resolved.
