    Crowley Builders Inc
The experience was excellent, and working with Crowley Builders we were able to figure out how to get everything we wanted within our budget. When we decided to change scope and complete our future wish list sooner, Crowley Builders was able to help us figure out how to make it all work. While we had drawings and a designer's input, Jim Crowley had excellent ideas of his own, which affected the layout of every room in the addition and many features and embellishments in the remodeled portion. I am so glad we had the benefit of his experience to envision how our project could be as beautiful as possible.

reframed the window exteriors, caulked the windows and primed the bare siding.  They offered to paint, but I was not ready for that.
    How did it go????
The initial callback was very quick, estimate date/time as scheduled, work day right on time (I wasn't there the first day because of work), but all was clean and 50% complete when I got home.  The second day, they were right on time, clean, efficient and completed right on time.
In addition, he had a tile guy scheduled for another job, but could gain access to the house.  I happened to have tile and materials to replace my entry.  He gave me a great deal and his guy knocked the job out the same day.  So...I have a new, secure, water-tight wall AND new entry tile.  Gotta love that!
His crew is professional, yet comfortable to be around...but not "overly" comfortable.  The just-right mix.  I plan on using the crew again for my "list" of repairs.

Kevin returned all contacts promptly and always followed up with answers to our inquiries.  We took 4 bids for the job and his bid came in at the lowest price.  We had seen his work in a remodel of a friend's bathroom and we liked the work he did for them.  He stuck to the price and conditions set forth in his bid and contract.  He picked up the tile and grout from the manufacturer and delivered it to our home.  He consulted with us about the measurements and configurations of the tile.  He took 4 days to install the tile (as he had estimated) and ensured that the tiles were laid level and flat.   He laid the tile in the dining room in the pattern that I had discussed with him.   He used a new type of grout that I requested after educating himself about the installation of the grout. He also told us that if there were any problems with the floor to please contact him.  Overall, Kevin did an excellent job from beginning to end -- and all with a smile and great attitude!!!

I am a Real Estate broker and I personally flip properties.  I have used Maxton Builders for many projects.  As an investor I am always looking for a good combination of price, quality and speed.  I believe I found the perfect combination with Valentin and his team.  I have recommended him to other client and have only heard good things from them!!!  I highly recommend!

So skeptic is my middle name. I doubt everything and everyone. Especially the internet. I bought a house, did absolutely nothing to it before moving in, wondering how long I would last before it needed work. But surely, the time came and I had to remodel my house, there was no way around it.
So I started doing my research. And my research I mean asking my friends who they had used and how they rated their quality and price. That was a dead end. My second course of action was the local newspapers, and ads. After calling around and meeting contractors and getting estimates, I was still not pleased. All their prices seemed WAY out of budget and their over confidence seemed a bit fake.
My third and final course of action was the internet. Very hesitantly, I started clicking away, feeling very doubtful, I continued, til I ran across a website called AngiesList. After reading many reviews of different contractors and actually meeting some, I got to meet Valentin with Maxton Builders. Let me tell you, of all the men I met, I had yet to come across someone as real, honest and reliable as Valentin. I'm not kidding. This is me, a self proclaimed skeptic telling you this.
Our first meeting, I told him what I wanted done, and some projects I was thinking about in the future, but couldn't just yet because of the estimated costs I'd been getting. He went through my whole list, gave me prices and an estimated finish date. The prices came in just under the median, but were low enough to where I could actually do a few extras I was thinking about for the future. I thought, and thought, and finally decided to go ahead with my remodel. He came the next day, we signed a contract and went over details. The VERY next day, he showed up with a crew of 4 other men and got straight to work! I cant even explain to you how fast they worked. I had never seen anything like it! Within the first day, all demo and clean up was finished! It was amazing! After that, the whole project seemed to go amazingly well. I got my whole remodel completed with my extras within my budget, and within the time frame Valentin gave me.
Now I sit it my lovely new kitchen, typing this review, and smile. Yes, I've doubted, and resisted this thing they call the internet, but after such a pleasant experience, I do it much less now. And let me tell you one more thing, I will be calling Valentin with Maxton for my future remodels, and will definitely be recommending him to all my friends!
Even you! Call him, you'll be glad you did!!

Ryan knows his stuff!!! His workmanship is excellent.  He knew exactly what he was doing and was done in less than an hour.  He cleaned up beautifully.  His price was less than everyone else's. I was so impressed I had him look at a bathroom project I was planning to do. I would not hesitate to hire him again and would refer him in a heartbeat!

It was a very stressful experience, but overall the  finished look is very attractive and gave us a fresh, updated look.  The quality of cabinets suggested to us were from L&U Kitchen and Bath in Sacramento, look nice in their outward design and expresso brown color, but their quality is very disappointing.  We bought the more expensive cabinets with the dovetail joints and self-closing drawers, but they brought us much grief in regards to inconsistent color, some of the cabinet doors and drawers not closing properly and wood cracks in the drawers. The owner tried to be accommodating in replacing the doors and trim that were not acceptable to us as new quality, some due to the quality of the cabinetry and some due to their workmanship.  We were told that there was not a warranty on the cabinets, but he would take care of adjusting the doors and drawers for several months if anything wasn't working correctly.  After we paid him in full, every penny that he asked for, to the sum of about $3000 more than the estimate, we noticed cracks in the sides of eight of the drawers where the rollers were attached.  He did not want to take responsibility for cabinets that he said we picked out, that he purchased and supposedly inspected and delivered to our house and installed.  His offered a poor, inconvenient compromise in replacing the drawers, so we decided it was not worth dealing with him further and risking more problems occurring with these cabinets, which outwardly looked nice.  We also picked our pre-fab granite from L&U.  We had our bathrooms done with pre-fab granite, which was a pleasurable and pleasing experience.  The owner of BGM Construction told us in the interviewing of contactors that he specialized in the granite and would be doing the granite work, though others would be working with him on the electrical, plumbing, etc.  My wife was impressed with that and wanted him to do the granite countertops, even if we chose another contractor for other work, even though we did not.  The owner showed us a granite sample and we loved it, but when going to pick out our granite pieces, we found that there were only three slabs to choose from for the island and they were not acceptable.  We chose a different design with his help, which we like very much.  We were told that it would cost and additional $250 which we agreed to, but he charged us $350.  The look of the granite in the kitchen is beautiful, and the workmanship done by another contractor around the Blanco Silgranite sink is excellent.  I guestioned why the edges were so rough and you could see the joining line of the bullnosing.  He told us that we picked the granite and it would cost another $350 for the granite contractor to come out and smooth and polish the rough edges.  He told us that he was going to do our granite when we interviewed him??  It was and is a sore subject with me, but I let it go.  It bothers me when I compare the smooth, polished bathroom pre-fab granite countertops bullnosing to the cosmetically pleasing kitchen granite with rough, unsightly edges.  Adding to the frustration of having to rush and select a new granite for the kitchen, we had to choose a new backsplash and sizzle strip to match. This met resistance and frustration from our contractor, but with good counsel we chose a more pleasing combination, which looks great!  We were told on three occasions that we were expecting a $100K, which was insulting and hurtful.  We work hard for our money and have sacrificed for a long time to finally decide to do the kitchen remodel, which started with painting the cabinets, new granite countertops and new appliances.  We did not expect a $100K kitchen, but an appealing, functional, new kitchen, with quality materials and workmanship, a contractor of integrity and attention to details,  This is not a house to be flipped, where things are patched and compromised and materials of marginal quality are acceptable.  The internet shows how various kitchen projects are done and we used that along with counsel from other contractors and friends to support our concerns over their workmanship.  We learned a lot from this kitchen remodel.  We spent thousands of dollars more than anticipated and much stress and tears came from pleading our cause.   We don't want to be totally negative, because we are pleased with what he and his crew gave us design-wise and appearance-wise, though it still brings up bad feelings because we settled when it came to wanting our home back or insisting that certain things be taken care of.  We have received many compliments on our new kitchen which we are proud of and are thankful for, We have painted the walls and ceiling and put in new baseboards.  The house is still transitioning, beautifully, but slowly.

In fact, they won the NARI 2008 Builders/Re-modelers Award for the project they did for us. He's really an excellent builder. He built costumed homes with any of those monster remodels. My remodel cost as much as a house, it was brutal. He was really good, good, clever designer, worked with us for over four months before we ever saw the first bill. The price was reasonable.

    SBC Contractors
The project was to start in late April 2011 and be done by the end of August 2011. They job was finalized and accepted in early August. Steve performs almost all of the work himself with his own crew. They did the roofing, framing, finish carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing work. They used subcontractors to perform the tiling, drywall and carpet. Steve was always very punctual showing up about 8:00 AM and leaving about 5:00 PM. If they were not going to show up on a day, they would let us know. We were going to lose access to a kitchen during the construction. They did as much work as possible before gutting the old existing kitchen. We were only 9 weeks without a kitchen. They did a great job in getting the kitchen back to working order as quickly as possible. Steve performing the majority of the work with his own crews allows him to better control the schedule of the project. The subcontractors he used were also very prompt and worked diligently. We felt completely comfortable with all the individuals who worked on the construction of our home. Steve performed the job as he told us in the beginning. We had a few minor items that needed to be fixed within the one year warranty period. When we called Steve about the items he immediately came out to look at the problems. Within a matter of a few weeks, he corrected the problems. This shows that Steve will stand behind his work and make sure that it is acceptable. We would use SBC Contractors in the future. We used him to remove and replace two original toilets (1973) in our other two bathrooms. He was very helpful in telling me how to get refunds from the local water company as we were getting newer more efficient toilets. We are getting a $250 credit on our water bill for these new toilets.

I called three contractors, two called back one of them was Jeffers, Dolan and Dolan. They came out and did an estimate, and followed up, showing the most professionalism of any contractor we've used. They began work as soon as the contract was signed, tearing out the old deck and beginning construction on the new one. The crew was a joy to have at our home, everyone on the crew was respectful, clean-cut, spoke english as thier first language, and needed nothing from us. They showed up on time every morning and worked hard until the end of the day. We would have felt comfortable letting our kids play outside while they were working. They thought of a lot of details you wouldn't normally think of-like routing the edges of all the board joints, using a bisquit joiner to attach the railing top cap pieces were the angles met. Overall, they were the best contractors we have ever done buisness with, we will certainly use them again.
