    Kaiser Permanente Pharmacy A

Kaiser's Pharmacy is very lacking as far as service hours and there always is a huge line. It lacks a lot. There is certain medicine they won't mail so you have to go in for it. It is always frustrating because there are huge lines and you have to check in. You have to go back because it is never ready. The wait time is just ridiculous. They have taken on more patients than they can obviously handle. You normally spend an hour waiting on your prescription and the doctor has already called it in. It is stupid. The staff is okay, it is just that they have way too many patients for what they are doing there and the times they are open. I have good insurance so I have a good co-pay. Their prices are about average. I can go to a competitive pharmacy and get the same stuff.  The staff there does the best it can, but their hands are kind of tied. If I did not have to use them I wouldn't.

I have gotten all the care that I have needed to have in terms of doctors.I don't have any other health insurance to compare it to. I can go to a cheaper plan too because I have a more expensive plan.

I've been really pleased with them with everything that I needed but it's a little bit slow with the billing. It would be nice to know in advance what things would cost but they're not able to tell you that and I understand that's not unique to Kaiser.

They were good. One of the things I really like is if you have an ongoing prescription, they automatically order so that the next one would be ready, so I don't have to all in or anything. They know when your prescriptions are up and they can have it ready for you. They have a good price.

    Kaiser Permanente
I never had any problem with them. You have to wait on the line a little bit for medications and stuff like that but whenever I need an appointment, I get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time. They see me within a reasonable amount of time. I do not have any issues with them. I do not know of anything that really stood out, it is just that I like Kaiser. I have been with my insurance at Kaiser.

Was treated very nicely. Had a chest X-ray and lab tests. The Dr gave me an antibiotic and a description of bronchitis and pleurisy with complete information and directions on what it was and how to treat it. And offered me a Dr's note for my work. I felt well informed and very well taken care of.

My husband was feeling ill for a few days. After speaking with his personal physician we called the paramedics and had him transported to the ER. They kept him there for about 10 hours and then moved him into the ICU when a bed became available. He was in the ICU for three days and they transferred him to an acute care unit where he remained for about 18 hours when he was discharged and sent home.
The ER staff were, for the most part quite competent and able to answer questions, but the communication from one shift to another seemed very lacking. One MD would come in and say something, another would come in and say something else, completely unrelated. I suspect due to people taking notes who misconstrued, misunderstood, neglected to get clarification. It does little to generate confidence in the medical treatment when medical staff cannot pronounce medical terms or stumble over medical terminology, or cannot explain the meaning of medical terms.
I have to say that once we moved to the ICU, I also did not appreciate the way some of the medical staff, one physician in particular, spoke down to us in a very patronizing manner. This physician asked me to "join rounds" when they discussed my husband, telling me they liked having the family involved to provide or clarify information they might need. Then he interrupted and discounted whatever I had to say with little or no explanation. As a result they decided that my husband was causing his unknown source of internal bleeding because he had been taking "massive doses

I went in on a Friday night in the middle of the night and they weren't sure if they were going to do the surgery right away and they wouldn't let me have any water, not even to rinse my mouth. I got upset over that. It was the 30th or the 31st and they didn't do the surgery until April 1st about noon. That experience of two and a half days was pretty bad.

    Kaiser Permanente Medical Group
It's one of the biggest HMOs there is in California. It's mostly in California, but they are also in New England. It is an HMO that was started during the war when Kaiser was building ships in San Francisco Bay during World War II and it's grown since then. Everything is computerized. I can talk to my doctor by email or call him. Whatever doctor I go to is connected electronically to my primary care physician. I wish the whole country had access to this kind of thing. There are other health services in the country, but most of them are just area-wise. They are all expensive. This group is all over California and has got about thirty million people in it. It is good and not real expensive. It's not just one guy that I see. They have different departments, but they are all part of the same thing. I had cataract surgery at the eye surgery center and all they do is eye surgery there. It's very efficient and the doctors are really good. Permanente is a Spanish word and it was named after a creek here in California when they first started up. Permanente in Spanish means permanent if the creeks have flowed all year round which is very uncommon in California. Most of them dry up in the summertime. I have never been to a better place in my life. I have been with them for about twenty years now. I am an active promoter of Kaiser.

The staff did everything they possibly could for you. I was on a first name basis so I knew all the staff very well. It isn't nice being in the hopsital, but it makes it easier when you are there with people who care.
