Elite Fireplace & Dryer Vent Services
Scam artist. Beware. When I set up an appointment to have my fireplace serviced I was very clear that there was a mechanical problem and it did not need a simple service. They told me when making the appointment that if the fireplace was not working when they left I would not be charged. When they finally sent a technician out, he was here for all of 20 minutes before saying he would not be able to get it running but that he would still have to charge me for a full service. He charged me $160 to get a serial number off of my fireplace and told me that even though I was told I wouldn't have to pay if it didn't work, that I still had to pay now and that will be deducted from the total of the work they had to come back and do. 11 days later and they send me a quote for $683 for a valve replacement kit. I check online and the exact same kit sells for $189. Do not waste your time and money. Find someone else who actually knows what they are doing.

I have never had such a positive experience with a general contractor. Jim Christian's, owner, work was superior! He provided on going updates to progress and was clean and efficient! Most important, the end product was well done, finished on time and at a fair price. Thank you Jim

Chim Chimney: Professional Fireplace Services, Inc
It went well until it came time for them to stand behind their work.  Then they disappeared.  All I've received is promises to call and explanations they are to busy to follow up.  They moved to a new office and the GM is so busy settling in, she can return a call to a customer.  I have since heard feedback from friends in the area that Chim Chimney is a ripoff and should be avoided.  At this point in my experience, I concur.
DO NOT give them your business!

The Hot Spot - Year Round Fireside
Contacted them. They sent us links to the gas inserts. We picked the one we liked. A few days later they sent someone over to install it. He did a good job. Cleanup everything. Used it the whole winter. No issues. Love it.

JR Putman Plumbing, Heating and Air
It was outstanding and we would recommend them to anybody anytime.  They came the following week after we purchased the Big Deal.  There were no additional charges.  It only took a few minutes. It was very good and they cleaned up everything. There wasn't  soot or anything from the fireplace clean up.

JR Putman Plumbing, Heating and Air
The technician arrived on time.  He explained the services the company has to offer.  He was not pushy, but very informative.  If I need heating or air conditioning services, etc., I will definitely call Putman.  Kudos to Eugene, the technician, for not trying to sell me something I do not need. A to Z Chimney Services
From the first phone call I made to A to Z I was impressed with their professionalism, and in subsequent phone calls for the service call as well. I found A to Z in a google search trying to find locate someone competent who could fix my broken fireplace. Their website was so informational and thorough that I chose them to call the next day. The technician was out within 10 days. I was SO IMPRESSED with his degree of organization, neatness, efficiency and knowledge of his profession and my particular equipment. He laid out a big tarp in front of the fireplace to protect my new carpet, and kept all his tools and equipment on the tarp, none on my own floor. He explained everything he was doing, showed me how to clean and adjust the fireplace, and got it working better than ever! It was a pleasure to have such a knowledgeable and efficient person in my home to fix the fireplace. It's a very important part of our home, and I know it is now clean and working properly.

JR Putman Plumbing, Heating and Air
Saw a fireplace tuneup special on Angies list for the JR Putman company. I purchased
the special for a friend who's fireplace was not working.
During the service visit the fireplace problem was diagnosed and fixed. The cost
to fix the fireplace was $479.95. The $59 fireplace tuneup was also done. As part of
the special J.R. Putnam also checks the furnace. My friend was told that if she
signed up for a furnace maintenance contract from JR Putman she would not have
to pay roughly another $150 dollars for the fireplace fix.
JR Putman found several problems with the furnace, improperly installed
furnace, cracked burners, ignitor outside ohm range, duct work not
adequate, and the furnace unsafe to use. To fix these problems would
require thousands of dollars of repair. They also had her sign something
that removed them from any liability for an unsafe furnace.
Now the house had a home warranty. The next day someone came over to look
at the furnace problems. He used a camera on an extension to look at the burners.
He took pictures. There were no cracked burners, the ignitor did not need to be
replaced and the duct work was fine. The furnace was installed properly. There
was nothing to repair. He measured the CO and found no unsafe condition.
If you add in the lost work time, the $75 for the second opinion on the furnace, the
initial stress over the safety and the cost of replacing the furnace, and now making
monthly payments for JR Putnam's furnace maintenance contract this fireplace special
    was a huge disappointment.

The Hot Spot - Year Round Fireside
I purchased the deal thinking that the fireplace would then be able to provide heat for my house. After talking to the very helpful staff at The Hot Spot, this deal does not provide any extra heat. The type of insert I need is about $3,000 and not currently in the budget. I am requesting a refund within my 30 day guarantee from Angie's list.

    The Stove Connection
Only complaint was the "summer cleaning" was a bit of scam. They came out and took the glass front off and use a dab of cleaner that I could have bought a whole bottle for $9 and charged me $60.
