    916Movers crew was great -- timely responses to quote request, prompt arrival on day of move, and very pleasant demeanor. We had a number of heavy items that had to traverse from upper story down 2 flights of stairs, plus a large gun safe -- and all was handled without any fuss or damage. They were professional, good natured and went above and beyond to ensure no walls were hit, no hardwood floor scratched, and no furniture marred. I've had a few moves in my life, some cross country, and for my local move here -- these guys are top notch. Will definitely hire again when the time comes, and recommend them to colleagues.     A Simple Way To Move
    I am verify satisfied with their service. Moving from 3 bed and 2 bath town home only costs me $600 include everything. And all the job is done in 5.5 hours. Other moving companies quoted me for $900 to $1200. Movers were working really hard, and they are courteous and friendly. The owner is very responsive and thorough

    OK. the 2 moving guys were very good, helpful. Ray very knowledgeable about load shift and loading aircraft. This knowledge proved very helpful in my move, as well. both fellows were pleasant. Apparently, the company is undergoing rapid growth and suffering from growing pains and communication not the greatest internally. Luis/operations was excellent on the phone. I had to repeat same instructions to both movers innumerable times. However, I think it is understandable as the apartment was in chaos. 4hours packing deal was $416, I believe; then the total was under the estimate ($1500) at $960, thank goodness. I have used this service once before and thought they charged way too much for using their own supplies, so I spent $500 at CheapCheapBoxes (they will refund any materials you don't use) so I didn't have a lot of add-on cost for use of their own supplies. I highly recommend buying your own supplies at that site. They have an excellent selection of supplies. I bought bubble wrap, foam sheets (excellent!), the big rolls of large saran wrap, professional tape holders (very worth the purchase--buy several), rolls and rolls of tape, and about 15 POUNDS of butcher paper wrap! Kitchen boxes which include boxes for drinking glasses. Caution: you will probably grossly underestimate what you need. I did buy House To Home Moving TV box since they could just set my new 49-inch flat screen in their box without having to remove the stand---and as long as they can unload the box, there is no extra charge. They uses several of my blankets and towels to cushion breakables well. They use their own wardrobe boxes ($32 each) but will not charge you as long as they can unload all the wardrobe boxes at your destination. It took from 10am (they were very prompt) until 8:30pm, they are hard workers and work nonstop except for 30 min lunch break which they will take when they leave for your destination. A word of CAUTION: you should be there when they arrive at your final destination because they start charging you as soon as they call you to tell you they are their at the final destination. ALSO: I was quote $120/hr for the workers by Jacob (I believe is his name) who came out for the initial estimate, but then Ray insisted it was $140/hr and I do not think I got a 10% Angie's discount this time. They used a 25-foot truck and had difficulty maneuvering through the storage facility. When it came time to leave, they had to back the truck out. Also, even though I had printed out the Angie's deal for $416, (for the 7/19 initial move of furniture to where I was going to live), and showed it to Jacob the office told Ray Jacob didn't say anything about it and they wanted me to present it again. I didn't have it on hand and the office manager was telling Ray he may not honor it. I ended up paying the $960 (for the 7/22 move to storage) with my debit card on Ray's phone....they use a special app that deposits the money into the company's account then Ray send a confirmation to you via his phone. I got the distinct impression that this company was all about the money and the add-on charges.

    Discount Hauling
    Mike was very responsive to my initial inquiry, and when we agreed on the day, he was in contact to let me know exactly when he would arrive. When he arrived at the property, he introduced himself, offered me a card, he reviewed the process, what I paid for. I then went through stages of removal, thinking that there was no way that he would be able to get everything that we had to remove into his trailer and truck. I prioritized what should be removed and what could be left for a later date, that we could manage on our own. I couldn't stay on the property while he was working, so he communicated with me throughout the morning, texted me photos of his truck, trailer and the area to be cleared. When he left, everything but metal had been removed. And he offered to come back at a later date to pick it up. We negotiated A more than fair price for a second haul. I would never have thought that he would have been able to haul it all out in one load, and totally understand the rationale for leaving the big metal pieces behind so we could make more room for what was on the property. He was completely focused on maximizing the benefit of my purchase to remove as much as he could in one haul.

    I submitted the review below prior to talking with Ray Martinez. While the experience is still factual below, I do want to add that Ray promptly called me back, in a non-defensive way listened to my feedback, and acknowledged that this will be a learning experience for him and his team. I don't doubt he will do all he can to correct the poor experience I had.

    Here is my review, given the above caveat--
    "We had previously used Sierra Valley moving company last July when we relocated from Colorado to California. At that time, they unloaded a P.O.D. for us and a Penske truck that we had driven from Colorado to California. At that time, they were fantastic--for $400, they unloaded all of our belongings, put together beds, everything with 3 hard working and courteous guys. This time, however, they sent 5 guys to do half the work in more time, and with less than quality results. My experience included the following:
    1. While a couple of the guys were very courteous and hard working, the team leader was not very professional, and in general, I felt what should have taken 3 hours strung along for 5 hours, almost doubling our bill. At the time of the bid, I was told, "If you have all the boxes moved, and we just move the big stuff, this won't take more than 3 hours at the most." Hardly the case.
    2. Team leader didn't really want to take care of the 4 places on our walls where the paint was nicked (and 2 places where the dry wall was actually partially gashed). "I'll take care of it if you want me to...just bring me the paint...I'll do it," he said in an impatient way. Of course, I would have had to pay for his time to get it fixed--at $215/hour.
    3. I was not notified earlier about extra charge for using a VISA.
    4. I was paying for 5 guys, and there was always at least one guy standing around. Usually 2 or more. In fact, 2 guys did most of the work. It was totally frustrating to be paying for guys to stand around, or wait for other guys to get back to the truck. Completely inefficient work.
    5. I had to do the math on the final bill. The team leader couldn't calculate the total bill--at one point, forgot to charge me for mattress covers, so we had to start all over again. I had my calculator out along with him helping him do his job.
    To summarize: I estimated that this move would cost me $600 at the most, given the previous job with the same company costed $450. $1150 was not worth the value--no where near it. They were inefficient with their time, with the team leader spending more time joking around with his workers and me. Frustrating to say the least.
    We do not recommend Sierra Valley Moving and Storage."

    After living in our Westminster, CA home for 35 years, we sold it and moved north to Rocklin, CA (northeast of Sacramento).  After hearing all of the horror stories associated with various other moving companies, we consulted Angie's List and found the highly rated Northstar Company.  We gave them a call, and they sent out a a fellow to give us an estimate.  Although the quoted price seemd high to us at that time, we had to take into consideration that we had lived in our home for 35 years, and had accumulated a lot of stuff.  Plus, all of our other moves (more than 35 years ago) had been accomplished by ourselves.  B I G difference.  Anyway, we decide to use Northstar. The movers they sent (Jacinto, Joshep, Mattew, and Issic M) were absolutely amazing!!  They arrived on time (9:30 a.m.) and immediately went to work wrapping all of our furniture and loading it onto the truck  We had a large number of already packed boxes, PLUS at lot of stuff from our 2-car garage.  After seeing these fellows in action, it became quite clear that there is NO WAY we could have accomplished this kind of a move ourselves (we are over 65).  These fellows are professionally-trained movers--and it showed.  It was incredible how efficiently they packed the truck--made every inch of space count.  They finished at 5:30 p.m.  Since we were moving 500 miles north, and had not yet purchased a new home, we had to rent a storage unit to store our belongings for the time being.  Northstar arrived on time at the storage unit, and the 3-man team was again headed by Jacinto.  Amazingly, they unloaded the contents of the truck into our storage unit in less than 2 hours--and made everything fit into a 10 x 25 unit.  Amazing!  
    We just bought a new home,and will be ready to move in to it in about 3 weeks.  Of course, we will be contacting Northstar again to facilitate this move.  We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Northstar to anyone and everyone who needs outstanding, professionally-trained, and polite movers!  Thanks Northstar and Angie's List!  You both rock!!

    Had contacted this company after seeing the discount online from Angie's list. After reading a number of positive Angie's list for this company, I decided to call them for an estimate. I spoke with a woman on the phone and she was very polite and helpful. She referred me to another person and was able to help me answer some questions about the moving process and the overall costs of moving with the Angie's list coupon with their company. Due to their high costs, I decided to not use them at this time. They charge at least 300 dollars more than my final mover. My current mover charges around 500-800 and their estimates were between 1100-1500. In addition, one of the company I ended up using provides additional services for less money!

    Had contacted this company after seeing the discount online from Angie's list. After reading a number of positive Angie's list for this company, I decided to call them for an estimate. After speaking with the office staff a few times, I decide to have them come out for an estimate and get some free packing boxes at the same time. The gentleman who came by was pleasant and professional. We talked about the job, the costs and the timeframe it would take to complete the job. He gave me a lot of info and an estimate for job. Given that I was working with an owner I thought we can get a huge discount with Angie's list. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I received a bid 1000+ dollars more than the competition and he never gave me my free boxes! He told me in the beginning that he was coming from another estimate and was not able to stop by the office to pick up those boxes. He assured me that he was going to get me those boxes later. This never happened.

    In two hours they did an amazing job of following my guidelines, offering their good suggestions, and willingly moving my heavy china hutch very carefully.  They were fast and as a team worked very well together.
