Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Richmond

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Replacement was done very well and to code. Could not ask for better work. A little more pricey than some other vendors, but it was an emergency and they weren't all available. I happed to use the 10 years earlier to replace the same water heater. Plumber was knowledgable, efficient, and easy to work with. Would recommend.

  • This was my second time using Water Heaters Only and both times were seamless. Work was done on a Saturday with no extra charge. The installer was Dan and he thoroughly explained the work he needed to do and left the area neat and clean. Definitely would use this company again, especially with the Angie's List discount!

  • The heating unit in my rental property stopped working.  I purchased the $39 diagnostic voucher for Stewart on Angie's list.  A technician visited the property within a week. I was told the check valve was not working and it would cost $650 to repair. I authorized the repair. A new technician installed the valve but that did not fix the problem. Now it would cost me
another $1,500 to fix the furnace "pump" and a new thermostat. In addition, they found leaks in my hot water heater which could not be repaired and that would cost me another $1,700. This is a big change from the original diagnostic. Unfortunately my tenant was suffering due to the cold spell, so I authorized the work.  Upon billing I noted that the available Angie's list discount was not applied. Therefore I called to have this billing problem resolved. Unfortunately I was denied the Angie's list discount in spite of the
fact that the work done qualified me for the discount. For this reason I have chosen not to continue using Stewart. Instead I suggest L.J Kruse Co. I have received good service from them in the past and no billing problems.

  • The relationship got off to a very rocky start. The day they were supposed to arrive for the installation of the original hot water heater I called four times to determine when they would arrive as well as get more information on the tank. The first three times I was told to be patient and that the person would arrive within my time window which was in itself far too wide (4 hours). 15 minutes before they were to arrive I called again to find out that there was no one coming as the person assigned to the job was not scheduled to work that day! When I was rightfully upset, the original person I talked to had nothing to offer but a grudging apology. And, when I asked to speak to a manager, apparently there was only one manager and she was "in a meeting" and could not take the call.
At this point I was prepared to call the whole thing off. The reason I went with Angie's List was to minimize the prospect of being ripped off or finding myself with bad service and here I had just spent half a day waiting for someone that the company told me repeatedly was going to show up only to tell me at the END of this FOUR HOUR WINDOW that that person was not even at work AT ALL the whole day. They had three opportunities to let me know that this appointment needed to be rescheduled and they blew it.
But then, the manager actually did call me in the middle of my first review and I decided to give them a second chance. The technician did come the second time. He was able to help problem solve a very difficult installation (sitting in a small closet that required surgery to get it out and change of regulations in the 20 years since the last one was installed). The unit that I ended up purchasing was superior to the one I originally purchased and it was installed in a timely manner and it is performing well.
A final note, it has taken two months and I have not received the paperwork for a warranty or the paperwork for the permit. I called two weeks ago and someone from Fast called last week to tell me the paperwork is in the mail. The inspector from the city is coming on Tuesday for the final inspection. I don't know if he needs this paperwork or if he has a copy that has been filed with the city. We shall see this Tuesday.

  • I had called just for a water heater replacement but coincidentally discovered a leak from the shower to the basement just before the appointment. When Ryan arrived, he investigated the leak and confirmed that it was matter of caulking, not plumbing. While checking things out, and in the course of replacing the heater, he was friendly and informative, gave me some good advice, and was reassuring about what looked to me like alarming water damage. Tom in the office was also helpful, referring me to other contractors for my grout and tile issues. Ryan was on time, helpful with the unexpected problem, and kept the price at the flat rate quoted beforehand on the phone. I'll continue calling them when I have plumbing issues.

  • Job Name: Hoff
    Job Date: 8 March 2015
We called several water heater companies and there was a huge range of service fees. Many companies displayed a complete lack of professionalism, and could not provide many details as to the type of water heater they would install.
Then... we called "Water Heaters Only", and immediately knew that this was company that we could work with. The gentleman at the call center was very detailed about the installation process and the type of heater that would be installed. We scheduled an appointment for the next day with a window of between 12-4PM.
At 12PM technician John Aquirre called to say he'd be here in 1-1/2 hours. At 1:20 PM he stood outside and rang our door bell! Ten minutes early!
John took the time to explain the installation process, and all the additional options that were available. I asked him how long he expected the installation to be and he said it would take about 2-1/2 to 3 hours.
We don't know how he did it...but the old water heater was drained, removed, and the new one was perfectly installed in less than 2 hours!
John gave us a detailed review of his work, did a final check of the project, cleaned up after himself, and completed the paperwork.
John was enthusiastic. He was professional. He was fast!
It was an absolute pleasure working with a company that lives up to its promise. We'll be happy to recommend, "Water Heaters Only" to friends, family and neighbors!

  • A technician phoned me during my scheduled appointment time and stated that my  appointment
originally scheduled for 2-13-15, had to be changed to a later date.
My technician arrived on my rescheduled date in a timely manner.
Chris is a new employee to the company, was  experienced and helpful.
I give him A+ rating and Ben Franklin an A+ also for hiring such a young man with his
knowledge and experience. Chris left estimates for possible future work and offered to
contact his office for quotes he was unsure of.
i am very pleased with the overall service provided.
No more leaking water on my backyard patio, all connections
were replaced and well tighten. My water heater does not run as much as before saving me $$$$!!!!
I only wish that Chris had been prepared to enter down into my crawl space, once he
had observed and found that the ground below was damp.
He apologized for not having the proper attire available with him to do.
My overall visit was very satisfactory, and I have continually recommended
BEN FRANKLIN PLUMBING  to friends and family.

  • It looks expensive on the surface, but I have both done at the same time, save me time and frustration.
My house is 25 years old, 2 story, 2450 s.f., half of the house is high ceiling. Both furnace and heater were the original, I wanted a quieter furnace and a more efficient w/h.
Shopped around, got cheaper bids, however a lot 'may be additional' in other bids. I liked the committed pricing and comprehensive guarantee/warranty provided by Service Champions.
It turns out, heating system is a lot more than furnace, and I am glad I selected an honest contractor.

  • The only thing this company was good at was showing up quickly.

The installation was functional but I made them come back out because the water heater was leaning and esthetically looked terrible.  They fixed it the best the could but it still ended up looking like crap.  At least we had hot water.

They extended my warranty to 15 years because I complained.  No big deal, they could have made it 100 years and it does not matter.  That is a joke.

The water heater failed in mid December 2014.  The burner would not stay lit.  I called them for parts and to have them come back out and fix it.  I understand the labor is only warranted for one year, so there would have been a charge for that.

Turns out they no longer handle the piece of crap they sold me and told me to call the manufacturer direct for the part.  I was on my own for the repair.  They were not interested in taking care of the problem.

I called the manufacturer and they sent out the parts, except they were the wrong parts and did not fit.

After a week of no hot water, I had a new heater put in by another contractor for half what I paid before.

  • I believe the water heater specialist, who is Steve Burlison, installed the water heater. He was a very knowlegable and a professional individual. The work done was just perfect! I would highly recommend him & his company for any work.
