Very professional.  Made sure I understood exactly what the problem was and how he was going to end the problem.  Job was done at the promised time and completed in a very timely manner.  Cleanup was thorough and workers very responsible and pleasant.  I highly recommend Paul Carty to get the job done right!  A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.........

    Sorin worked with us to:
    1. Build an addition - master bed and bath - in the rear of our home.
    2. Open interior walls to create an open plan and more light.
    3. Replace our HVAC with an energy efficient unit and move the unit to the roof crawl space.
    4. Build a deck in the back of the house.
He advised and guided us, while still giving us the space to own the project. His work and that of his team was high quality and highly professional at every step of the process. He was communicative and respectful of our space. We enjoyed spending time with him and he inspired deep trust. His invoices were correct and clear and he was transparent regarding cost. He provided really excellent advice to us - especially on tile selection and ways to get the look we wanted without blowing the bank. Many of our neighbors - including those who work in building trades - commented to us on how fast and good our contractor was, and how clean they kept the site. Additionally the job was very fast. Once we got our permits the entire job took only 3 1/2 months from foundation to move-in. AND my husband and I did the painting ourselves which delayed the move-in and finishes by about a month.
Its truly a gorgeous remodel that changes just enough to make the house feel that it should always have been like this while still updating for a modern family.

The entire process was good and the team was fairly tidy and on-time. The estimation and payment process was rather smooth, considering this job was 3x the size of the previous job. I'd work with them again.

Don and his crew were very punctual and hard-working. They consulted us whenever anything unexpected was discovered--such as floor dry rot -- so any additional work could be authorized to proceed. Don is very responsive to feedback and will promptly address any concerns. They would clean up daily. After each day of work, visible progress was evident. The quality of the work impressed us. The crew was clearly experienced; they have been with Don nearly 10 years. The crew took pride in their work. They were friendly and approachable. We were especially impressed with the meticulous tile work. Our new space is beautiful to behold--like a work of art. We would gladly call Don again for future projects. He exceeded our expectations. I love them. He goes by the name of Nick; he is actually Brazilian. His crew is wonderful and he is very easy to work with. He seemed to be knowledgeable; he is not an engineer but he has some knowledge there. All my neighbors walk by and say that it looks great. I have had lots of compliments and surely one of my neighbors is going to have some work done on their driveway so that is a pretty good take on the situation I guess. The price was appropriate. I cannot say how great he is; I would recommend him to others.

They put color in it. It looked half wet and half dry. They told me it would look better once it dried but two years later  it still looks awful. They also removed a step before they concurred with me. I was disappointed with that and they did the work in the rain. After I signed the contract, they added on an additional fee for the portable toilets for their workers. I told them I would not pay that and there were no problems. They did not charge me. The overall fee seemed expensive for the work performed.

Very well.  Guys were courteous, hard-working, tidy, always cleaned up at the end of the day, no smoking, no radio.  They installed an earthquake retrofit in basements of condos then solved a problem of water from a spring in next door house basement.

First Tom fixed the bathroom window.  While he had the wall open it became clear that the shower had been installed incorrectly in the first place and that water leaking behind the tile and into the crawl space was the cause of the mold problem.  Other theories were discarded (roof leak, drainage problems.)

Then Tom and Jose gutted the bathroom and began the remodel.  Midstream,  we figured out how to deal with the mold spores that were living in the crawl space on the dirt and on the framing lumber in a cost effective way (see above).   I interviewed two Bay Area companies that specialize in "clean crawlspaces".  Tom sat with me as I met with them and asked them super intelligent questions (which they weren't able to answer well). But their bids were too high for me to afford with all the other work that needed to be done, so it was a moot point. Then Tom helped me find an online source for a similar plastic membrane.  I ordered and paid for the supplies and his crew installed it.  I saved about 50% over what the crawlspace companies had bid.

It became clear as we sealed the crawl that we could not have a heating system blowing air from the crawl into the unit so I found a used gas fireplace insert on Craigslist and Tom installed it.

My goal was to be able to move from the upstairs unit to the downstairs unit by June 1.  As the end of May neared, Tom helped me decide what needed to be done and in what order.  He was also able to call in additional help from among his network, including a very skilled painter.

Tom saved me from a very difficult situation of being without rental income for 4-5 months due to mold from an unknown source.  He was enjoyable to work with even in a stressful situation, and because of his expertise and skill was able to get the repairs completed and rental income resumed in a timely way.

I done extensive remodeling on two other houses,  and Tom is one of the best contractors I have other worked with.  The other has retired to Mexico,  so I suggest you call Tom!

Weve used them many times for the last several years. It was done at a very reasonable cost. We had priced a couple of other places and they wanted $2,000. When he came out he said that because the break was in our yard and didn't go out into the street, it would be a fairly quick job and he had all the stuff he needed in his truck. He dug and dug and dug and popped it in and cleaned it out. He tested the line and suggested that at some point it should be routed out as far as possible into the main line. He said that it is quite possible that since the city lines are so old there could be problems down the road but they wouldn't be our problems. He said that I should call the city because he thought the blockage was not on our property. He said to keep the line clean and route it out so the city couldn't say that it was our problem. His speed stood out. He got it done all in one day. They have always given us prompt service. We called that morning and they came that day. They couldn't promise it would be done that day but it was.

Great experience. He was careful and professional from the quote to pulling the permit. He took the time without me asking to show me exactly what they were going to do and why, including giving me drawings, and to wait around for a permit inspection after. He was communicative in warning me when there would be especially loud noise, and showing me in detail the job when it was finished, giving me recommendations for future work (not to be done by them). I liked that they repainted the stucco that had to be replaced, and left me most of a can of the matched paint.
