    Tahoe Mold and Water
To my mind, the most important indicator of a good service provider is how they handle the relationship when things don't go as well as you hoped. Tahoe Mold & Water did a great job balancing our desire to be as cost-effective and efficient as possible, with educating us on what was really necessary to manage our issues.

After a month away and a lot of rain, our tenant came home to find a heavy, musty smell throughout our guest house. Upon closer inspection, we were horrified to find we had mold all over a lower level room we used mostly for extra storage. We immediately had the house tested for mold and secured a proposal for remediation while helping our tenant find an alternate place to stay. The mold report and initial estimate to remove the mold was much more than we expected. That's when a friend told me about Green Home Solutions of Northern California. Justin and Jose came to my house, provided a thorough mold inspection and within days had a plan underway to remove the mold and clean the air quality in my guest house that was nearly 50% less that our initial estimate! I Would definitely recommend GHS NorCal for any mold issue you have.

Overall everything went well. Because of the timing with a long weekend and their determination to let the wall dry out an extra day, it took a day longer to complete than we anticipated. However, it was well communicated and we were very pleased with the results and happy that they decided to completely ensure the wall was mold was resolved with the extra day.

I brought in a one inch sample of 50 year old vinyl from my mother's house. Home Depot said they would not put in new flooring with that age vinyl unless it was tested for asbestos. I called and Tracey told me the test was $40 if I brought a sample in, but $450 if a technician had to come to the house, so of course I brought it in. I received results via email a few days later, there was asbestos. Not sure what to do, I called Tracey and she was very helpful. She said there were possibilities that we could put new flooring without removing the old flooring and that would contain it, I would have to ask Home Depot. She also emailed me a list of Asbestos Abatement Contractors, as this company only does testing.

It went fine and I'm having them come back to do some work. The gentleman was good at explaining the procedure and he seemed competent. I was pleased with the fact that he gave me the estimate right then and there. The quote was very detailed and itemized. I had to reschedule due to a surprise business meeting but he was flexible enough to work around my schedule.

Not good at all.  First, he charged me $450 which I later found out other service providers will do the inspection for free.
Second, his recommendation was to "repair the leak in the shower".  So, I called a plumber and took time off from work. There was no leak.  I ended up not only wasting my time, and the plumber's time, but paying $200 to have a hole put in the wall.  I then had to  have the drywall put back in, sealed, and repainted.  It did not look the same.  The plumber went into the crawlspace to look for the "mushroom growth" that was indicated in Richard's report.  The plumber did not see such evidence; and spoke on the phone with Richard about it.  Richard then back peddled and said he had a picture of one small mushroom.
Richard said he could not believe that his testing equipment and report were incorrect about the leak in the shower.   He offered to help pay for the expense.  Only he did not.  Instead, he came over and provided the test again...this time for "free"  "at his cost."  He never reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses for $200 for the plumber as he promised.
Richard also recommended pasteurization from his favorite referral partner, PW Stevens.  This cost me over $2500. I later found out from a real estate agent that it was her experience that these don't need to be done as there is always evidence of mVoc in the air.    So, Richard made money for himself and his referral partner and provided suspect recommendations.
Call someone who does the test for free.

Rich and his daughter Jayce were great. Very nice people, very diligent, and prompt. They checked the walls for moisture and did all the required mold testing. And Rich told me what his nose was telling him?that he didn't smell any mold. The test results, which came just two days later, backed him up.
It's one of those businesses where you hope you never need anybody, but when you do, you want to deal with people as nice and competent as Rich and Jayce.

Rich returned my initial call within the hour. He arrived promply for the appointment today. He took a history of the complaint and commenced testing for moisture. He took time to explain his findings and had suggestions for remediation. He even suggested that we submit a claim to our insurance company for the water damage, which we hadn't even considered. I am delighted with Rich's professionalism and expertise and will not hesitate to call on him again should the need arise.

I wanted to ensure the floors under my carpeting were asbestos free before I ripped them out to install a floating floor on my exisiting slab. (Home Depot requires such a test if you go through their contractors on homes built prior to 1978). Sure enough they contained asbestos, the test results were helpful to abatement contractors to determine the best way to remove it. I dropped off samples ($40/ea) and the next day I got results via email. Too bad someone had painted over this floor, I couldn't tell which linoleum in which room was the same, so I tested each room.

They were excellent. Out of all the companies I called, they had the best price. They were extremely professional and likeable people. They coordinated with another company that came to my house. I would give them an A across the board.
