Concrete Driveway Installation reviews in Redwood City

Excellent job. They were very prompt, respectful, respectable and thoughtful. They helped us think out and manage all of the complications associated with paving a driveway shared by two properties. They managed all of our weird complications and requests to do with drainage, curbs and resetting sewer cleanouts. All told, they did a fantastic job, and the driveway looks wonderful. We'd certainly use these guys again without any hesitation.

Throughout our entire process we received incredible customer service and support. Communication was outstanding with weekly and daily contact from our site manager during the project. Overall the build was amazing value with high quality finishes even with adjustments to plans and specifications. The process was very efficient, taking 14 months from first day on site to handover even with extreme wet weather at the end thanks to our very efficient site manager. We would highly recommend M&M Construction and Home Design for those choosing to build their dream home in a cost effective and timely manner

Method Paving is amazing. We had a long narrow driveway that sloped the wrong way and flooded our garage whenever it rained. We also had a patchwork of concrete patios, and a set of narrow pathways around the house. All in all about 2000 sqft of surface that needed to be redone. The initial consultation was exactly what you could hope for ? a consummate professional asking the right questions, intently listening to your goals and preferences, and thoroughly explaining the available options. Nathan did just that. We received a very reasonable price quote and they were able to squeeze us in several days earlier than we had expected.
The demolition was a much bigger job than anyone expected due to layers of concrete under the driveway and the existing patios. The demolition team were rock stars, working long hours without complaint during the hottest week we've had all summer. They also worked around the schedules of a plumber and tree removal service (these jobs always grow, right?!).
We struggled to decide on the paver design, paver type, color and pattern, working closely with Rick who offered excellent suggestions and provided opportunities for us to go see installed options to see if we liked the look. And set us up with a supply company to pick up samples to set against our house to make sure that it looked good. To our amazement, Rick never lost his patience with our wishy-washy decision-making. Rick also suggested an inner border to break up the space of our rather large patio and driveway and add some character. And what a fantastic idea that turned out to be. We love the look.
The installed pavers are gorgeous. Who knew that a driveway could be beautiful. The patio looks so good we don't want to put anything on it. The installation team was top-notch. The attention to detail is quite impressive. They cut pavers to fit around all of the nooks and crannies that exist around the house, garage and back deck, creating a polished and finished look. And the final product is more functional than I could have imagined. They managed to widen our driveway by about a foot, a significant improvement. The original narrow walkways are gone, replaced by wide, graceful, curving paths. Everything is well-built and solid.
We cannot recommend Method Paving enough. The job was bigger than I think anyone expected, but the team was there 6 full days a week until the work was done. Both Nathan and Rick were extremely responsive when we had questions or needed clarification. They cleaned up after themselves, especially important for a messy job like concrete demolition and paver installation. Their teams (both demolition and installation) are knowledgeable, dedicated, hard-working, and straight-up good at their jobs.

They were wonderful. They were on time, the estimate in the contract were absolutely what we expected to pay and they in fact threw in some things that other vendors did not. He sent out a crew and they were extremely professional. They did the job in three days. "You could eat off the pavers in the akin that the place so clean." And I have recommended them to some one else who has since used them.

The owner, Dennis, was on time and provided an estimate within a day of request. We obtained three different estimates from different companies and we chose Penisula Concrete based on several factors; reputation on Angies list, looking at another job he had completed in the area, and based on his time in business.   He presented a professional estimate on the spot of the complete construction, what would be done, the timeframes to complete, and the price to complete the job.  He provide material descriptions and gave us several options.  The work commenced on time per the agreement, the workers were courteous and professional, and left the worksite clean each day.  The work was completed on time, within budget, and excellent quality.  We are very happy with the results and the driveway and walkways are beautfful.   We have already recommended Peninsula Concrete to friends based on the excellent service we received.

This project was in stark contrast to our front yard project in 2010. We were so happy with the front yard we both a) recommended Del Contes to everyone who asked, and b) returned directly to Del Contes when we decided to do our back yard.
We are still unclear why this second experience was such a disappointing contrast to the first. In our front yard, we had Del Contes install a Grass Pave 2 driveway which was something they had not done before. This went very well.In the back yard there was nothing as unusual as this, and yet I was shocked when near the end of the project (and one of the 3 or 4 times I actually saw Ricardo, the head contractor), he lectured me on how difficult we were as customers and how difficult this project was. I will not belabor the highly unprofessional attitude this conveyed, but rather summarily dismiss these comments with the following two observations:
In reviewing the list of 15 mistakes (some major) that Del Contes made on this project, I recall how we were forced to become more and more involved with the day-to-day project oversight, because clearly Ricardo was not.
Given that Del Contes was able to fix almost everything on the second attempt, there is no way for Ricardo to argue that this job was to difficult. We feel like we were given a C team (because perhaps we have no more yards to landscape?) and they were frankly just sloppy or improperly trained or working to sub standard instructions. If you can do it right the second time, you can do it right the first time - if this is your business.
Errors in construction:1) Prep wall (tall part of wall) built in wrong place. Brenda noticed this after the crew had left for the day. It was raining hard and she was forced to remove incorrectly-placed cinderblocks before the concrete they were set in hardened.2) Drain pipe cleanouts non-functional (angled the wrong way). These had to be corrected and even then, they used a pipe diameter much larger than necessary and now we have a piece of white PVC pipe that juts into the side of our stone path. The stones had to be cut to go around the pipe! Totally unnecessary and aesthetically suboptimal.3) Ricardo complained that they couldnt find purple colorant for cap grout - Adrian found it right away with a Google search and bought 5 bottles at the trivial price of $4 per bottle. Ricardo bid on this specification in the design created by Del Contes.4) Cottage step stone sticking out randomly on one side. Someone had to return at end of project to fix this.5) Step lights set under grout instead of on top underneath the patio stair noses; remedying this involved substantial time and effort to remove stones and grout to properly reposition the step lights.6) Crew left site during lengthy pause (2 weeks waiting for more plants) without turning the irrigation on for 2 weeks despite assurances it was (3 plants, 1 tree died). As a point of contrast, when Raul finished our front-yard project, he made a point to show us how it worked and explain what the watering times should be and how they get scaled back as plants got established. For this back yard project, we had absolutely no communication about this.7) Window box drip lines not placed as requested -- had to be redone8) Wrong lighting controller-transformer installed instead of LX-150 - had to be replaced.9) All 3 electrical sockets not GFCI as requested or discussed -- had to be fixed.10) Too much gravel on side path - It seems that they took whatever they had and spread it over a foot beyond the edge of the path. Gravel was under the blackberries and into the planting areas. If anyone on the crew was paying attention (B4) they would know that all the changes we made early on were to minimize hardscape as much as possible. I had to pick this up all by hand.11) Stone side path laid with variable width instead of with straight edges as shown on the design plan - the stone pieces used were so large, they extended under the blackberries. This had to be redone.12) Said roof downspout drain was impossible w/o sump pump; we had to show them how it would work fine and proved it with a hose test after the pipes were laid as we instructed.13) Stucco delayed; wrong stucco color (first attempt was orange). Ricardo complained that it was too difficult to match/obtain a tan stucco color. Again, Ricardo bid on this project that was designed by Del Contes, and on the second try they did match it.14) Stucco finish was completely unlike the photos that we agreed upon with Eric. The contractor merely took the edge of his trowel and scratched squiggly lines into the stucco.15) Low pooling spots in concrete (at walkway intersections and by stairs) was a result of the initial concrete pour not being leveled and sloped correctly to avoid low spots. This needless sloppiness resulted in the need for a 2.5 drain hole to be drilled into the middle of the path at the end of the project. Workers came by to drill hole and were clearly in a rush. Only drilled to half the depth agreed on with Eric (the designer), therefore they had to return, at which time they were rushing and so they chipped the concrete around the hole.
The only bright spot really was Eric Hagberg - he was a stand-up guy who was easy to talk to, work with and I know worked very hard to try to deal with this project that kept going off the rails. We continue to be asked if we can recommend a landscaper - I would love to hear from Del Contes that the problems we experienced were an aberration - but until that time, we are reluctant to subject friends and acquaintances to the experience we had this second time around.

Dennis arrived exactly at the arranged time for his estimate. He is so knowledgeable and efficient that he took all the measurements and listened to my wishes completing the estimate in less than 15 minutes. I also gave him a list of what I wanted done so we wouldn't leave anything out. He provided me with the estimate later that day by email which was better price than all the others I had obtained. Dennis and his team arrived promptly on the day the work was to begin and every day thereafter. I saw Dennis frequently as he supervised his team and he was patient and helpful in answering my questions. The work was completed in the anticipated time range. Rain slowed things down a little, but that is uncontrollable. I cannot compliment Dennis enough for the quality of work. He and his employees are true craftsmen and they take pride in the excellence of their work. They also left the site clean and neat each day, and when the job was completed. Given the work required and the excellent results, I definitely got my money's worth and will enjoy my new front yard appearance for a long time.I truly recommend Dennis Turchet of Peninsula Concrete Contractors, Inc for any concrete work you need done. He won't disappoint you. He knows his business and takes pride in completing the job with superior results.

Never had the courtesy of e-mailing the estimate as agreed nor returning my calls! Very unprofessional. I would really hesitate in having this company do any work as if there was a problem, good luck! They never return calls!
