  • I write this review during my break in cleaning up explosive diarrhea. Explosive diarrhea? Oh yea....runny, nasty, in your face, fresh, potent, liquid fire and fury. Giardia...A parasite that lives in nasty, dirty WATER. It took me some to put two and two together. My dog was healthy as can be...that is until we started going to this place. It was difficult to pinpoint the source of my dogs issues. We thought it was new food, but then we got him back on a regular poop cycle, and we brought him in to this sespool again. Sure enough, two days later, boom...Another bout of Giardia. 
    Oh and the reviews about the staff yelling at your dog...couldn't be any more true. Staff being rude? Most definitely. And its not the type of rude that you would classify as "rude". This rude is "Oh great..another dog...wonderful...fantastic...". Thank you sir for bringing in another 4-legged monster for us to baby sit for you.  Don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain...Because as soon as you leave, out come the water bottles...
    The rudeness i could care less about...The water sprayers, fine...Yelling at my dog...he can handle it....1,2,3...most people would say F you to just 1 of those....Stupid me looked past it...
    But there is NO excuse for my dog to be coming home with parasitic infections every time he drinks the water there. Are we in Mexico? Is Montezuma re-incarnated in canine form?
    Is it really that hard to clean the s*** out of your water bowls?

  • She purchased birds because she raises them. It's not like a pet shop. She raises them and they're hand-fed babies. They're beautiful birds and they take care of them. We have no qualms about leaving our bird when we go somewhere. They're very good with the birds. People come from long distances for grooming. A lot of celebrities use her. She's well known. We even had to take my bird to her house at the last minute because the shop was closed.

  • Ashley and her staff are awesome! I left my little Lola at her place. It's actually her home, so there is someone there all the time to oversee the animals. Lola received individual pampering on the lanai

  • We love their service. My dog goes there every chance I get to take him there. I really like them as opposed to other service providers that I have used as they are very concerned about the dogs well being and they are very thorough in making sure they test for temper issues. They are all very knowledgeable about behavior issues and they communicate very well. They are the best in town.

  • We've been using Redwood Animal Hospital as the primary care vet for our German Shepherd. We've also used them a few times to board our dog for a few nights. We've been very happy with the professional staff and care we've received. The boarding prices are also very competitive.

  • I had used this facility in past years and was very happy with it. However, it changed management prior to my using it in January-February 2011, and the experience was so bad that I simply cannot ever use. or recommend, them again. The dogs were boarded for 10 days in a private room located on the street level and near the desk staff. I brought their own food and bottled water and instructed tht they were not to be given any other foods, treats, etc. I gave these instructions verbally, and made a large font note that was posted at their door. When the dogs were picked up on a Sunday afternoon; after getting them home I discovered that they had uncontrollable diarrhea. Nothing about this was mentioned to me at the pick-up. I had to take the dogs to the vet the next day, and spend almost $200 for lab work, medicataion, etc. I was really too agitated about the situation to contact them myself; so, my son did it for me. All they offered was info that the intake/checkout clerk was no longer employed with them. Also, knowing that this facility had been affiliated with the Animal Medical Group in Manhattan Beach, I asked about the boarding facility the next time I was in there to pick-up dog food. Regretably, they advised that they (Animal Medical Group) were indeed still affilated with the El Segundo boarding facility. I advsied them of my experience and they offered, and I accepted, to have the boarding facility manager call me regarding the matter. I never received any call.

  • I have been using this place for about seven years and only stopped briefly when my first dog passed away. It is the cream of the crop as far as we are concerned when finding a place to board a pet. They are on the way to the airport from the South Bay. The facility is immaculate at all times, the cages and condos come in all sizes with all of the perks, and the dogs have a gymnasium to run around in for exercise. There is a human attendant as well all day and all night. WE are moving away in sx months and will miss this place dearly. If you want your dog pampered, they offer all of those services as well. It is also completely temperature controlled. If you want a cage, of any size, where they cannot see the animals next to them so barking is not prevalent, or if you want a condo with tv and bed, that can be had as well. Another great thing besides the fact that all of the people who work there are really nice, the parking is a no brainer; hence no stress arriving or departing.

  • My dog made regular visits to Dr. Maria for approximately two years. I was impressed, though the cost of the visits always seemed to escalate way beyond the price of an office visit. My dog's health and well being was worth it and I felt she was a fine vet so I continued taking him there until the inexcusable happened. Dr. Maria was not always available and we would have to see Dr. Akieda on several occasions. I noticed a sign advertising a $29 bath on one of these visits. Since my usual groomer charges $50 I wanted to take advantage of this offer and made the appointment for my 65 pound friend. We left him off in the morning and later that day got a call that there had been an accident and my dog could not walk. The vet that day was Dr. Akieda and she did x-rays of the injured leg and informed us on the phone that it looked like he had bone cancer. We went in immediately, saw the xrays (no charge for them) and were told we needed to consult with the radiologist for a digital radiograph and see what he thinks. The next step, we were told would be a biopsy to verify the cancer. The doctor emphasized that if the cancer can be seen, it had spread. Their radiologist agreed, it looked like cancer. As our dog came out to go home he was only walking on three legs! WHEN WE ASKED WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED DURING THE BATH, THEY WOULD NOT GIVE US AN ANSWER but commented "I don't know, I wasn't in there". The $29 bath had gone up to $103 at this point. It continued to skyrocket as we took him to 2 other vets and got the opinions of 2 other radiologist. We also consulted with an orthopedic surgeon friend. All three looked at the initial x-rays plus the 2 vets did their own set of x-rays. Not one of the second opinions thought it looked like bone cancer!!! Obviously the days following the initial diagnosis were devastating. We did not even hear from Dr. Maria, his vet, until a week later. Needless to say, we never returned, feeling that they were covering up for an accident that happened during the bath. A year and a half later, our 11 year old dog is doing just fine after a $5000 ACL surgery that was, in all likelihood caused by their negligence!

  • For about six years now I have been using this facility on a regular basis for grooming and boarding. My dog is bathed once a month there, and has a haircut and bath every other month. Whenever my husband and I travel together we board our now 12 year old dog at this facility. We are always pleased. It is a state of the art grooming and boarding facility, with EASY PARKING to boot. Someone is always there with the animals. They supply food and some pet products as well. And, may also provide day care service, but not sure about this. I love the people who work there, and most of all the groomer Danny. He is the best in the southbay area of Los Angeles. No hassles about making appointments as the desk management is very buisness like and efficient. They are extremely accomodating. Those attending to the pets are excellent as well. You have a choice of a cage, condo or suite, with extras and spa treatment. It is beyond clean. The first time I checked the place out, I showed up unannounced. I believe that I lucked out in finding this one stop place for my dog.

  • While in their care, my dog was attacked and killed by another dog who was also in their care. The other dog, an Akita, broke into my dog's run and attacked him. The Akita was able to do this because Sandpiper neglected to properly maintain their runs. The wood seperating the runs was rotten.
