    All I can say is, AVOID DR NISHIKAWA... Dr Richard T. Nishikawa attempted to commit almost unimaginable transgressions against me, that for legal reasons, wouldn't be appropriate to get into here in detail. HORRIFIC, is the only description I can give you of my experience with this doctor... The residents of the South Bay, and all of California, need to know that they should STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS from this doctor and his staff. I now use natural remedies for most of my dental needs and have gained the best results of my life because of it. The reality is when you engage in horrifically unethical behavior, word does get around, and you end up having to pay the price... Eventually, Dr Richard T. Nishikawa is going to have to face the consequences of his actions, in a court of law.

    I'm new to the area, and had difficulty finding a dental office with efficient, friendly, and competent service. This is the place! They are so lovely, kind, and most importantly great at dental care. I'm very impressed with them overall. It was easy to schedule an appointment, they were courteous on the phone, and prepared me for the appointment. Upon arrival, we filled out the forms and we didn't wait any time at all. We were seen immediately by the doctor and the hygienist. They were amazing with my 3-year-old son and made him feel comfortable and engaged. They were very thorough with their evaluation and cleaning, and did an excellent job.

    The scheduling of the appointment was relatively easy, but upon arrival things went south. I told the staff I had recently had x-rays and would like to forego them. I also said there was a chance I might be pregnant, so that was another reason I did not want x-rays. Because I recently moved to the area, and my previous x-rays were in Pittsburgh and not digitized, I could not have immediately sent. The staff said that they were unwilling to clean my teeth without x-rays. I should have left at that time. Instead, they gave me the minimum number of x-rays that they would allow. They then did a high-res camera images (revealing that they make their diagnoses from both x-rays and images and the x-rays were unnecessary. I told them I was a cash patient, and they did not tell me how much each part of the appointment would cost. The final bill was $382 for cleaning and x-rays that I didn't want. Not only were they rude  acting like I was stupid (I am a doctor myself), but Dr. Pino okayed the x-rays knowing I was possibly pregnant and then flippantly asked me about having another child as a way of making small talk. I really regret being bullied into x-rays. Furthermore, they said I needed ten cavities filled. Ten. I got a second opinion from a different doctor in the area who said I had perfect teeth-no cavities--and had been bamboozled by these con artists. They have state-of-the-art machinery, and now I know how they afford it--they trick people into thinking they need dental work done when they don't. They are in the money making business not the dental care business.

    Dr. Lyou and his staff are great. Very caring and also funny, which helps keep the mood light. He won't do unnecessary procedures, and is great about monitoring and suggesting dental work as a preventative measure when needed. Never a long wait in the office. Hygienists are good too.

    I went to this dentist based on the reviews and rating on your site.  They were great for my first visit and I then referred 4 family members.  They went and immediately got the hard sell.  I didn't believe this but experienced it myself when on my last appointment, the dentist himself kept insisting that I replace my fillings and do so before the end of the year as I was going to lose those benefits and who knew what else I would need the next year.  I kept saying no and that I was too busy but he actually walked me to the front counter and had me book my appointment.  I later cancelled. 

    Talk about pressure!  Every one of my family got the same pitch.  Each one was told that their fillings needed to be replaced.  We have always kept up with our dental care and only changed because our dentist retired.  It's pretty amazing when you have an appointment the year before and everything is fine but walk into their office and are told that you now have 6 areas that may have cavities and therefore should be filled.  We also

    This place is nice but only if you want to deal with a carney! 

     We also all continued to get calls from the office asking us to book for more services.

    I feel like I've known her for all my life because she's been my dentist for years. She's friendly. She's good. Her staff is very good and personable so you can't have for not liking them. I've been using her for 20 years or 30 years.

    he said he thought I would be wasting my money.  I agreed and he actually refunded the first procedure. I did not know that was possible....I was very grateful and very satisfied.  I have since recommended a couple of friends to their office.

    I had a not so great experience with her. I liked that she was personable. I didn't like that she didn't seem to stand behind her work. She wasn't too confident on her own work. She didn't stand behind it. She did some work on me and it wasn't satisfactory and had to be redone and she charged me for the redo.

    I've been going to this office since they first opened over 10 years ago. They have upgraded their facility with modern equipment, appointment and billing systems, a more pleasing and modern decor and have brought in professional staff to provide a full spectrum of dental, periodontal, orthodontic and dental hygienist services. They are always friendly and helpful. I convinced my wife to also go there after she had several frustrating experiences with her prior dentist who didn't view their patients as customers - only as a thing between the doctor and $$ from the insurance company. At Dr. Smile you feel like a valued patient, client and customer - a positive experience in every way.
