Lou and his crew were fantastic. They are incredibly professional, timely, and their attention to detail was amazing. We would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking for a good general contractor.

    Super Sweep Chimney Service
They are indeed knowledgeable and probably work with big spenders who dont ask questions! They were responsive to returning calls and came within the time window they promised. They did a chimney cleaning, and inspected the chimney. They criticized our chimneys construction, and also all prior work that had been done. They quoted a significant amount to fix everything but when asked further questions about the repairs needed, they became very defensive and arrogant. They indicated that they are they are the best resource and would not offer any other options of more economical ways to do the repairs. Also the owner used a lot of foul language throughout the visit which was unnesscarry unprofessional and offensive. In summary, I think they are knowledgeable, and likely good at their work, but their level of professionalism and customer interaction needs major improvement. The chimney sweep was priced about 15% higher than what I have seen, but the chimney was clean, and they also did not leave any mess behind in our home.

    Shenon Construction
The remodel went great! Shenon Construction is the most responsive and focused general contractor I have ever worked with. They respond to every email, text and phone call/voicemail. Sure, the project wasn't perfect, but what building project is perfect? Our remodel was quite extensive with the removal of two load bearing walls, discovery of a cracked foundation, and the normal issues of dragging a house built in the 80s into the 21st century. We re-plumbed, we rewired, and repainted the entire first floor (over 1,000 sqft). One caveat, the project took significantly longer than anticipated; however, I attribute this to delays in materiel shipments and surprises uncovered during renovation. Not the fault of the contractor, and this can be expected. Tom and his team were also very flexible as we made modifications through the project to accommodate unpredictable conditions and last minute additions. Finally, whenever I found problems they were quickly remedied without pushback or hassle. I would definitely use Shenon Construction on another project.

    Classic Remodeling Inc
Met and honored our budget and guidelines. Were on time and professional. Kept areas clean as the workers came in and did the work. Responded to all our questions and concerns and offered up insight that helped us help guide them through the entire project. Our kitchen is amazing. Classic Remodeling is a notch above all the rest.

    Kd Construction
Our relationship with Fermin and his team was great from the beginning. As we reviewed the design, we discussed various options and suggestions that Fermin had. We went to the site a couple of times a week to see how things were going. The team was always there, always friendly, and always making progress. During our weekly visits, we discussed design options - Fermin often had great suggestions - such as wainscoting in the master bath. And it looks fabulous. I loved the back and forth we had - discussions about what we should do - some we agreed with, some we didn't - but that didn't matter. It was just a conversation. We ended up with some changes in the end because of city regulations our designer hadn't included - but beyond that, we were on budget at the end - and would have been close to the original schedule except for the city changes. We would hire Fermin again at any time. We continue to have them come back for smaller projects. I would definitely recommend KD Construction for any project, big or small.

What should've been a pretty straightforward job turned into something much bigger when we discovered the crack in the foundation. Lou helped us navigate the process, scheduled the engineers and inspectors to come out, and dealt with all the permits. Lou and his crew were always on time, professional, friendly, and very good at what they do. Lou is super detail oriented...sometimes seeing things that I didn't. There were also a couple of minor issues that came up after they were done, and he sent someone out immediately to fix them. I would definitely recommend Lou and the Stone Age crew, and will use them again in the future.

RED HOOD CHIMNEY SWEEP AND AIR DUCT CLEANING
The cleaning was done very well. The safety inspection left me with a few questions about the work that needed to be done in order to make the chimney safe to use. I was told that the chimney was not safe to use as is, but was not given a formal run down of the specific problems that needed to be addressed at that time. After calling the company a couple weeks later, I got a cost estimate for repairs that needed to be made to make the chimney safe to use, and it was $2k+ of work. While the number didn't shock me, it was a significant amount which continued to reinforce the need for a detailed conversation about what would happen should these problems not be addressed and the fireplace/chimney be used at all this winter.

    Fireplace Designs And Renovations
Considering the fireplace has a surround made up of river rock, I knew this would be a tough, dusty job.  Eric's crew took extra care to limit the amount of dust and covered all furniture and floors in the area.  I couldn't be happier with the result...looks professional and will look even better once the TV is installed.  Eric's price was very fair and significantly lower than 3 other quotes I received.

    Supreme Remodeling Inc
We chose Supreme Remodeling to help us with a major renovation of two bathrooms and a kitchen, fireplace refacing and new hardwood flooring. When I say major I mean it. Both bathrooms and the kitchen were completely gutted and redone. There were major changes to the layout of the plumbing and electrical. Sinks, showers and tubs were relocated. By the end of the project I would say about 70% of the plumbing and 40% of the electrical wiring was redone in our home!
We feel very fortunate to have worked with Simon for this massive project. Simon was there for us every step of the way. He gave us great advice and ideas on how to make optimal use of our space. One of his best ideas was to remove a linen closet in order to extend a bathroom wall and make room for a beautiful soaker tub!
We have a town home managed by a strict HOA located in city with even stricter city inspectors. Simon did everything according to city code and our renovations were fully permitted.
You hear a lot of horror stories with major renovations like ours and usually the trouble starts when unexpected issues come up once the walls are opened up. We also encountered unexpected issues along the way but the great thing is that Simon worked with us to come up with solutions with which we are comfortable and happy. He always found a way to solve the issue and stay on budget.
However, to be completely honest, a couple of the unexpected issues did cost us more money. One issue was that we needed a new electrical main panel because the previous one did not meet city code with the additions needed for this project. Another issue was that we discovered plumbing leaks in our garage that needed to be fixed. In all cases Simon gave us a very good price to fix the issues. In fact, he only charged us his costs to make the repairs and did not try to make additional profit. We were on a really tight budget and this really helped us out!
Speaking of budget, we got three bids before starting the project and Simon's bid was the lowest. Simon really took the time to figure out a budget for us that we could handle. We are thrilled with the final results and feel that we were treated honestly and fairly every step of the way. Simon really worked hard to make us happy. He also did a lot of extras for us. This included adding more electrical outlets in the living room, installing a bath fan in a bathroom not part of the remodel, professionally installing under cabinet lighting and a new water filtration system in the kitchen.
Thinking back on this experience, we think the greatest benefit of working with Simon was his ideas for how our space could be used optimally. Other contractors we interviewed didn't even try to think outside the box for us. They were simply going to install new cabinets, finishes, fixtures in the same layout as before. If we had chosen one of these other contractors we would never have realized the potential of our space. With another contractor we would have spent a lot more money and still not have a space that was any more functional.
    Pros
    - Great design ideas and advice. No other contractor suggested removing a linen closet to widen a bathroom. This was a fantastic idea and we have room for a beautiful soaker tub because of it!
    - High-quality work
    - They worked diligently with city inspectors so that all work is permitted
    - Simon did everything to make us happy. If we were displeased with how something was done, he would redo it to our satisfaction and not charge us a penny more
    Cons
    - The project went way over the expected timeline. This was mainly due to changes required by the city to pass inspection, running out of materials, and limitations with scheduling enough sub contractors to help get things done faster.
    - You need to stay on top of all the details. We are very picky and chose specific materials and wanted things done specific ways. We learned quickly after a few things went differently than expected that it was critical to communicate all the details as clearly and consistently as possible. But again, when mistakes were made, they were corrected to our liking.
