  • Mark was there when I needed someone more than just a real estate agent. I needed a friend and Mark was there. He took the time to learn about me and then we went looking for a house. Our first trip gave Mark a real good feeling for what I didn't want in a house. Our second trip yielded the house that I and my two young sons needed. it's been 20 years since that day and we still live in that house. And, Mark has remained a close friend. He has attended my son's graduation parties and we have regularly gotten together for lunch. An excellent agent and a great friend.

  • Having been a renter for far longer than I care to admit, I'd finally decided to purchase a home.  I was referred to Ken Moorhead at Value Star Real Estate through one of my friends.  In my first conversation with Ken I told him that before I would buy anything I wanted to make sure that I had a clear detailed picture of all of the financial costs involved in buying a house.  Ken's response was that this was not a problem and in fact he encourages all of his clients to make sure that they completely understand all of the costs before they buy a home.  After completing the basic profiling process to start determining what type of house I was looking for Ken set me up on the real estate listing website so I could begin receiving notifications of property listings.  After emailing Ken a list of properties that I would to see he called and was able to schedule appointments within one to two days.  What I immediately liked about Ken when we started looking at the first homes was that I felt no sense of pressure from him to buy.  Prior to contacting Ken, I had actually worked with another agent whose only concern seemed to be how quickly they were going to earn their commission.  Ken was the complete opposite.  When we would first look at a new property, he would let me walk around first before asking any questions. Then he would ask me what I liked and didn't like about the property.  What I really appreciated was Ken would bring things to my attention that I might have missed.  In fact, I told Ken I wanted his honest opinion on everything we looked at, good, bad or ugly.  If I'm going to decide to buy a house, the more information I have better the decision will be.  Within three weeks of starting the search process with Ken I put down an offer on a house in Rancho Santa Margarita and within 30 days escrow closed and I became a homeowner.

  • Mark is very professional, smart, creative, punctual and most of all kind. He always had a smile on his face and made us feel that nothing was impossible. There was one house in particular that seemed perfect. A so called gem of Rancho Santa Margarita. It was within our budget and was move in ready. We LOVED this house. However, there were already 4 offers on the place. It always makes you sad when you find a place you love and there are already a ton of offers on it. How can you compete? Well, I can say that those thoughts were quickly eased. Due to Mark's connections and effective bargaining skills he was able to get us our DREAM home.   • Every purchase went smoothly. Mark oversaw all the details of each purchase. He would oversee the opening of escrow to the closing of escrow and signing the loan documents. Mark was always very accessible by phone or email. He would always get back to in less than an hour and would call me with any updates on the progress of our purchase.   • We used Mark as our buyers agent to purchase our first home. Mark was very honest and punctual throughout the home buying process. His knowledge of south orange county neighborhoods as well as the benefits and trade-offs of each community was very informative and helpful. Mark was constantly informing us of new listings as soon as they became available and was always ready to meet our scheduling needs.   • Terrible. Not dishonest or anything like that. But poor service. It was almost like they'd never done a real estate transaction before. Terrible response. Didn't 'drive' the deal through close. We (and our RE agent & mortgage broker) had to constantly reach out and say what we needed and ask what they needed from us to close. The problem is that if you want to buy a house where they're the selling party, you've got to use them. No way about that. So we were essentially forced to use them. The only other option is to not buy the house. Oh yeah, very expensive for escrow services. Probably twice what it would have cost through a traditional escrow/title office.

  • Great experience. We were referred to Matt during our most recent home purchase. He lives/works in Aliso Viejo and proved his local expertise covers Aliso, RSM, and Mission Viejo. We assume he is equally familiar with most/all of the South OC housing market, but those were the cities we focused on. We really connected w/ Matt. Good guy and very easy going. He was very consultative as we looked at houses and ran through the pros & cons. When we finally pulled the trigger on a house, he was advocate from offer through closing. A good agent works hard for their money. Matt will discount his fees and give cash at close if you negotiate up front. Definitely ask. Thing about it: a 1% discount on a typical $700K OC house is $7K in your pocket. The seller pays commissions, so you'd either be getting 1% of your sale price back (if seller) or 1% of the seller's sales price in your pocket toward closing, etc (if buyer). Anyway, we recommend. Do yourself a favor and get a good independent agent who can give you cash back at close. Big real estate brokerages can't (or won't) do that. Their loss, your gain. PS: Matt is an ex-NFL football player. Ask him to show you his Superbowl ring.
