    La Costa Upholstery
This is a follow-up to a review from 2013. At the time, I thought they did a great job, and I gave them a positive A review. When a problem developed, they made commitments they did not keep. Today I received an abusive phone call from Roger. When I spent $1120 for La Costa Upholstery in 2013 to replace my sling fabric, I expected the fabric to last for many years. At about 4 years, we started to notice that people sitting on it got up with white fuzz on their backs. In April we figured out the fabric was going bad, I looked up the Pampas fabric online and found it had a 5 year warranty. I called La Costa and explained my problem. Margaret was very helpful at first and, after some research, said they would replace the fabric. She said theyve had bad results with sling fabric and no longer offer it. Margaret said the fabric I had was discontinued but offered another kind of fabric with a 2 year warranty, and asked me to choose one of the available patterns. I chose one and she said she would work with the manufacturer to replace it. I followed up repeatedly over the next 6 months, and it was always forgotten or she would have to call the manufacturer again. No progress was made. Reviewing my emails with them, I see now an email where I thought they were telling me they were replacing with a 2 year warranty fabric - now I see he said he sold me 2 year fabric. Finally, at the end of summer, I was tired of not getting anywhere and requested a refund. Roger and I spoke at length, and he offered me a $200 refund. This left me with furniture I could not use, that I could not transport in my car, and no way to dispose of. I said I had an idea and I'd call him back. The Salvation Army scheduled a pickup, but their driver told me it was in such poor condition they would not take it. We were fortunate to find a neighbor with a pickup truck who would take the furniture for free. I called Roger back to accept his offer. Two days later he called me angrily, accusing me of extortion. He told me the original fabric he had sold me was not the fabric with the 5 year warranty I thought I had, but the same 2 year fabric they were replacing it with, and I had always had a 2 year warranty. (There was no paperwork from the original job to refer to.) He told me he would not honor his offer to refund $200. Its bad enough to spend over $1000 for fabric and be left with unusable junk a few years later. And I do understand nobody else will fall into the trap of buying Sling fabric from this shop since they no longer offer it. But when their customer service process is to stall for 6 months, then offer a partial refund, then renege on the offer with an angry phone call, I have to wonder what kind of customer service anyone else will get from La Costa Upholstery if they have a problem.

    Del Mar Piano
Andy came out and was awesome. I could tell on the phone he knew what he was talking about. He took his time and spent 2 and 1/2 hours tuning a old piano that was my moms. It had been over 15 years old since it had been tuned. You could tell Andy could hear the notes and it was amazing to watch him skillfully listen and fine tune it. Being a spinnet piano that is over 51 years old he did a great job. It was not a easy job. In addition he was able to look up the serial number and get additional info on when it was built. Very honest and skilled. He wasn't the cheapest of the quotes but he is worth the extra little bit of cost. Don't hesitate to use Andy. Thanks again Andy.

Mr. Tuner was friendly and did a good job tuning the piano. He did not respond to an email I sent him. After a couple of weeks I called him and he apologized and thanked for me for following up with him.

Every detail of the project was handled efficiently and professionally, from design, to stain color and even mattress selection. The installer they recommended did an equally good job. We would recommend this company to anyone! Guests are always impressed with the beauty, quality and comfort of the wall (wallbed and side cabinets) and how easily the bed is dropped for sleeping and hidden when not in use. The wallbed has held up to lots of use and we're as happy with it today as we were when installation was complete, 3 years ago. Also, we recently spoke with friends who were equally impressed with their own experience with this company.

    MSJ Delivery Moving & Storage
This is the third time I've used MSJ. The first two times, everything went perfectly which I the reason I came back. This time, things were not quite the same level of service. On the front end, apparently they have someone new scheduling the moves. Although I spoke to the lady several times, she didn't seem to remember the details of our move. The day before the move I called to confirm, and she did not have the date correct. I asked if everything was set, and she said yes. Surprisingly, she called me later in the afternoon and then said she needed an inventory of our items. I told her we had already discussed that. In fairness, the lady was very nice and I just got the sense that she needed more support. The next day, the crew came called and came out at a time different than we agreed.
As with my previous moves with MSJ, the movers were polite and professional. While they worked diligently, the pace was definitely slower than previous moves. One mover seemed to be new and inexperienced. While I specifically requested a piano mover, there were issues on how to move it. Afterwards, we found packing tape on our $15,000 piano that was very difficult to remove. Interestingly, MSJ had previously moved two pianos for us and it went without a hitch. I'm not sure what happened with this move.  It was the same exact items that we had moved previously.
Perhaps it was just a one time fluke, and they did get the job done. As I mentioned, I had used them twice before, so I expected the same high standard.

    AAA Woodcrafters
I phoned him for a general estimate and he requested I forward  pics of the two dressers via e-mail, along with photos of the type of finish I was looking for.  He provided me with a verbal estimate and emailed photos of recent jobs he had done.

He was very personable, informative, and responsive.  He came to our home and picked up the two dressers.  I gave 1/2 deposit and he was able to take a credit card which was nice.  He provided me with a copy of my invoice via e-mail with a "promise date" that fit into my timeline as we were having guests to our home.

He returned the dressers a few days earlier than expected and they looked awesome!  Again, I paid the balance on credit card and receipt was e-mailed.

This could not have gone any better, and I would definitely use his services again and recommend him to anyone looking to have furniture, cabinetry etc. refinished.  Excellent in every regard!

We wanted to have the piano tuned before the Christmas festivities, but we had a tight schedule.  Jeff Lehman rearranged his schedule to suit ours.  He was punctual, polite and cheerful and a pleasure to work with.  He performed a regular tuning, including the removal of two stray pencils,  but he charged extra for the concert grand.  He honored an Angies List coupon. Even without the the coupon discount, his charges were less than most other tuners we have used.
His work was excellent and the piano sounds as good as it can be.  We intend to use Jeff for future tunings.

Very well, I was lucky that the schedule had an opening in my area and I was able to have the work done the next day.  My piano had not been tuned in 8-9 years. I had a special service done to help with the pads and allow a quicker response when the key is struck.   I used my Angies List coupon which is how I found Mr. Tuner.  It took one visit and I am enjoying the music again.  Thank You Mr. Tuner!!

I found The Drapery Shop by accident while chatting with another woman at a fabric store and what a fantastic recommendation. I had a very large remodel project with lots of moving parts. Lewis the owner came to my home to measure and we spent quite a bit of time trying to find products that would fit all my different needs for each of the rooms ie; window reflections on the t.v. He always listened was patient
(more than one visit) and even made a fabric suggestion that was perfect for my Living Room! His staff Janice and Emily at the showroom are a compliment to the overall caring attitude. Janice and Emily followed up with many other facets of this project from ordering fabric samples, ideas for the pillows and upholstering the chairs in addition to the many more steps and phone calls. The upholstery jobs are everything you would expect with helping to re-design a chair to make it fun and funky to matching the geometric pattern perfectly. Installation went very smoothly and everyone is always on time. It is so nice to have a company when your doing a project that you can rely on to make the process stress free.

We got a new puppy about a year ago. We also had a bad case of and quot;puppy amnesiaand quot;. The puppy ate both arms off of our living room couch. Fortunately, we had lots of the fabric from when the couch was recovered several years ago. Since the pup has (hopefully) gotten over the chewing stage, I contacted Carlos at L and C Upholstery. He was able to come out and take a look at the damage, and said that yes, he could repair it. The next day he came with an assistant and removed the couch. He had it repaired within a week! Wonderful work! In fact, he is now doing one of our chairs, that had a badly worn covering.
