    Scudder Roofing
Everybody was so helpful from the office staff to the evaluator who had the utmost patience and experience. He explained everything thoroughly and helped me make the best decision for my house and budget. The job involved new 30 yr shingles and conversion of an old tar and gravel portion of the roof as well as several new skylights & new gutters + replacement of several rotten roof areas. The roofing crew and supervisor were great and job finished on schedule. They were careful w/ plants & scrubs and cleanup was excellent. Not a single problem. As a side note I had a problem w/ racoon's or possums in my attic area. I had no idea who to call so I called Scudders and they came immediately and assessed the situation and started working on it. It really wasn't a roofing issue but they repaired the side of my house and didn't charge me anything!! Who does that these days?

    LAMBERT ROOFING
Michael is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He really knows roofing! He was always present on the site supervising and doing the work. He was very patient with our endless questions as we worked through the process of choosing the perfect roof for us. Upon completion of the project, Michael made sure we were satisfied with the clean up process. The new roofs on both properties look great! Monterey Bay Roofing gave us the best price and professional service that exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Michael and Monterey Bay Roofing!

    Scudder Roofing
Pete sets the standard for contractors.  He came to the house and went over his qualifications and references, explained all of his terms, which were excellent, went over various payment plans, gave me a sheet showing all of his employees along with their photos and years of experience.  One of my favorite things about Pete is that he pays for his employees to take English classes!  It's a win-win situation: They become more skilled and he gets highly qualified employees, and with a boss like that they stay with the company, so many of them have 10  + years of experience with him.  He is respectful of all people, including women.  He let me be the boss completely, which any single women reading this know is RARE!  He was never patronizing and never over familiar, but
professional. respectful and comfortable to work with.
I appreciated that he warned me ahead that with a house the age of my house (100 years) it was likely that they would find a second roof beneath the top one.  He offered me two options in case they did find a second roof: They could stop work and contact me before approving additional work and costs or we could agree on the price of the additional work ahead of time and they would still call or email me but continue to work.
The quality of work is guaranteed and of the very best quality and they communicate with you throughout the entire process and stay in touch with you even after the job is finished.  Pete has a Happy Homeowner's Gazette that he sends out each month, but gives you the option of taking yourself off the mailing list if you wish.  I stay on because Pete offers you useful tips on taking care of your home each month.
The workers completely clean the area surrounding the work site daily, going around with a magnet so that no stray nails etc. are left behind and by the end of the day you cannot see any sign, other than the work on the roof, that the team has even been there.  The neighbors said that the workers were so quiet that they never noticed them.  This is one amazing company and we are fortunate to have Pete Scudder on the Peninsula.  I only wish I had more work for him to do!  He is that good!

The work above was completed on time for the amount estimated.  Just one rain period of one-half inch spread over six hours has fallen on the repaired roof.  That may not be sufficient for a true test of repairs.  An extended rainfall over a longer period would be more of a test perhaps but that is not  in the weather forecast right now.  Contact me in 2015 for an update.
It took months to receive the Scudder invoice after the work was completed.  No problem for us but maybe for other customers.

Complaint Letter Regarding Alleged Fraud by Ambrosia Construction and employee January 17, 2014.
(As of this posting, Gary Ambrosia, Sr. is unresponsive to meet to work out a repayment plan. A signed certified receipt was signed by Gary Ambrosia, Sr. confirming receipt of this January 17, 2014 letter and texts to my mobile phone.)

Re:  Alleged Solar System Battery Fraud Scam and Repayment Plan
Attn:  Messrs. Ambrosia (Sr.) and Ambrosia (Jr.)
I have recently become aware of your fraudulent overbilling for solar system batteries and use of cheap batteries not meant to be used for photovoltaic solar systems.  This letter is a demand for full and immediate reimbursement.
In 2012 you proposed and installed a Schuco photovoltaic electric system (solar system) and thermal hot water system for my Monterey residence per the March 5, 2012 California contract for $85,493.00.  The contract was revised on April 13, 2012 to $75,566.03.  The revision changed the ?solar battery, Ojai OES-2 lithium battery? price at $30,608.52 to ?solar battery, deep cell maintenance free? priced at $17,073.65. Yet, the price difference was $13,534.87.  The eight batteries that were actually installed are Trojan T-105 batteries that are common golf cart batteries and only cost $105 each for a total of $840.00 not $17,073.65!  I was fraudulently  overbilled $16,233.65. I texted, emailed and phoned you for a copy of the original battery invoice for the golf cart batteries installed and you have refused to submit it to me.
Moreover, the solar system kept failing.  I repeatedly asked to be educated on the system and how to care for the batteries.  I offered several times when to meet. I asked for consistent maintenance of the batteries and could not obtain it. You even avoided informing me that the battery failure was causing the acid on the floor. Twice after much pleading and being left without power you came over and only re-connected me up to PG&E.  You should have turned off the circuit breakers, waited 20 minutes,
checked the distilled water levels in the batteries (battery replacement) and used a simple $7.00 Hydrometer to test the batteries functioning level and checking the water levels, and then rebooted the Inverters as per the Schuco main office engineer.
I now understand why you didn?t want to replace any batteries, because that would have revealed the cheap golf cart batteries.  I
finally had another engineer help me, and he has fully informed me of the improper design for back-up ability and the substitution of inappropriate and high maintenance golf cart batteries instead of proper solar system low maintenance batteries, and the non-existent non-working back up hook up.
The Schuco engineer also informed me that the circuit breakers you used were too low ampage, and the wires you used were too narrow, to handle a back-up generator or back to PG&E.  (You also were in error re the use of a generator.  The HOA stated publicly at the board meeting my generator does not require any approval as there are no limitations for it here and I am on the board. ) I have had the Schuco recommendations corrected at additional cost.
On top of this, you needed money so, because of our parents connection, I paid you, in full, from my personal accounts (wire, checks, cash), per your invoices and statement in advance and then had a very difficult time getting you to finish the system! I
am so disappointed you scammed me.
The way to correct and clean this up is to apologize and proceed as follows:
I would like to be fully refunded for the fraud scheme you both perpetrated plus 10% per year interest
    from May 2012 to February 1, 2014.
    $16,233.68 Battery fraud
    +$ 1,623.37 Interest April 2012 ? March 2013
    subtotal: $ 17,857.05
    +$ 1,785.70 Interest April 2013 ? January 2014
    Total:  $19,642.75  Due February 1, 2014
I hereby demand this reimbursement to be paid in full by February 1, 2014.
I will also accept ten monthly payments in the amount of $2,000.00, (plus interest February ? November
2014), made payable to ?Oracle?, beginning February 1, 2014
This offer will remain open for one week from the date of this letter.  If I do not receive an apology and acceptance of the terms
to reimburse, as stated above, I will pursue all available legal remedies and notifications public and private.

    Lang's Roofing
Mike Lange initially examined roof and recommended replacement of the few missing shingles and sealing along garage roof edge rather than replacing roof at this time. I appreciate the advise and honesty. His crew came out to repair the roof and do the sealing. They were very professional and completted the work quickly. The cost of the repair and sealing seemed reasonable compaired to other companies. I would recommend this company and would use them again.

    RIPARETTI ROOFING INC
Doug Riparetti examined the roof and determined a replacement was not needed at this time.  A few shingles had fallen off but the rest of the roof looked OK.  I appreciate the honesty and advise.  Mr. Riparetti provided me with an estimate for the repair and for the replacement.  Both seemed very reasonable as compaired with other vendors.  Although I did not have the repairs or replacement done, I would definitely use this company in the future.

    AR Gutters & Sheet Metal
This crew was amazing in every respect. Their work needed to take place concurrently with a re-roofing project. They worked seamlessly with my roofing contractor. When the crew arrived, they buzzed around the house like bees. Crawling and scampering about a very steep roof like nothing I've ever seen. By the end of day one, all gutters were hung. By day two, the ends had be riveted, downspouts placed. When the job was completed, I noticed a portion of the guest house (add on garage) was missing gutters (not part of the re-roof project). Called AR back. They, once again, arrived in a timely manner, consulted with homeowner to make sure my needs were understood. Crew arrived next day and completed an additional 100 feet of gutter and 3 downspouts in a timely and professional manner. These guys rock. I'm listing price as FAIR as I have no comparison. I took the word of my roofing contractor in hiring them and feel I paid a fair price just for the pleasurable experience.
NOTE: They don't just do gutters. They were also hired by my roofing contractor to fabricate some special sheet metal saddles around my chimneys. Great job with all connections soldered to make joints leak proof.
    Highly recommended.

    Monterey Bay Roofing

I pretty much described the whole story above. He was prompt, very personable, and professional,

but I never heard back to him after that. It has been 6 weeks since he came for an estimate. I've seen and heard nothing from him since.
