Roofing reviews in Playa Del Rey

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We required a new flat roof at our home here in Venice (with existing solar) Aviv and his team handled the entire process very professionally - Material removal, installation and application of new roofing all on time and very fair from a cost standpoint as well - Steve

  • George ultimately couldn't perform the work, because it was more gutter-related, but he spent 30 minutes advising me about what to do and recommended a gutter specialist. Took his time and was extremely pleasant and helpful, despite realizing that the job was not right for him. I highly recommend.

  • Art at Accurate Roofing did a great job. Part of my roof has a leak while it was raining here in LA. I called Art based on the reviews I saw, and he came out immediately to give me an extremely fair estimate. We scheduled the work to be done the next day, and there have no problems since. Definitely recommend Art and Accurate Roofing !

  • Remember - no leaking over the previous many years. In the first rainfall, November 2016, I had water intrusion. I called Roof Rx immediately; they inspected and said it was a window; not their problem. I had the window resealed. Next rainfall, which was harder: much water intrusion; a second inspection by Roof Rx: again, not their work, but they found another new leak which they agreed to patch. Next rainfall was huge (Christmas 2016) and we had a flood which resulted in 250 sq ft of drywall removal, flooring destroyed, mold, fans, etc. At this point I called a different roofer as I had lost confidence in Roof Rx. That roofer said that the Roof Rx work was faulty and took photos. When I informed Roof Rx they elevated the case and on the new reinspection they agreed that some work was faulty or had failed. They continue to maintain, however, no responsibility for any of the earlier leaks. no responsibility for any damages, and expected me to be satisfied with a warranty repair. One Roof Rx employee actually told me the problem was not their work but the heavy rainfall and they could hardly be blamed for that. Think about that explanation. Isn't the point of roof maintenance to keep out the rain? And recall, it was August when I had the repairs done, so they cannot use the excuse of being overburdened by what must have been a crazy Winter for their business. My attempts to come to terms with them over the total hard costs to me (less than 10k -- just documented costs) were initially successful. We had an agreement in which they would pay for some (not all) of my damages. I agreed to avoid court. We were waiting for HQ to sign off but in the subsequent weeks they have stopped returning my calls and emails. If you are wondering why there are no other negative reviews on Angie's List, you will want to know that a non-disclosure agreement was part of our negotiation. And the final twist: I am now attempting Small Claims Court but Roof Rx in California does not have an Agent to Serve listed on the CA Secretary of State's website. That person, at least in California, resigned in February according to the California Secretary of State's website.

  • We signed a contract back in October.  I assumed it was off because I didn't hear back from him.  He gave me two days notice.  I haven't heard from him since.  Getting a response out of him initially was tough.  Getting the work actually done, really hard.
  • Miles was easy to communicate with and was responsive to scheduling as necessary.  I had to order a fan so I was able to talk with him about the specs when he came over for the initial service call.  He charges for this but the amount is credited on work that they perform.  Once I had the fan, I contacted him and he came back to install it in within a week.  He did most of the other repairs that day in an efficient manner. I still had one light that I had ordered and wasn't delivered so he came back one more time to install this.

  • A.P. Roofing provided quality work to re-roof our house. After joining Angie's List and finding their information, I was pleasantly surprised when they contacted me right back and we scheduled a free estimate. The house had been experiencing water leaking into the house in the last year or so.  The house is also 30 years old and had never had any roof repairs. Max from A.P. Roofing explained to me the condition of our roof with pictures and what they could do for us. The proposal made sense to my husband and I, so we proceeded with the work. A.P. Roofing and their employees made it easy to get the job done. I really liked that they were efficient and respectful of our property.  Also, they have a warranty which makes me feel like quality is important to them.

  • It was a joke. They scheduled an appointment and they came out. The guy didn't know what he was supposed to do. Then he got all bent out of shape at me about some snafu at the office. Then they sent somebody else out who just reviewed the job and said, "Okay. We're going to schedule somebody for a later date." We scheduled somebody and then, afternoon, somebody showed up to do the job. They don't know what they're doing. The guy who ultimately came to do the job, spent a lot of time there, but he missed spots and I still had to go and do some roof repair myself. When they get out there, then they tell you, "Oh, no you need to do this and this and this." I said, "Well, wait a minute. This and this and this were included." So then it become a negotiation. For what they charged me, if they would have done the job, I was happy. The guy who ultimately came and did the job was okay. I didn't have any squawks with him, other than he missed a few things. It was the management side of it that didn't know what they were doing, which is worse actually. I don't want it to come back on the guy who ultimately came out and did work. My complaint, more is with the three people that I saw before the final guy came out and the waste of my time. The supervisor that came out before him, didn't accurately assess the job. The worker who came out to do the job got stuck with doing more than he was told he was supposed to do, by the company. They weren't very professional. The worker that came out and ultimately did the work was professional. But, the first three people that I dealt with, weren't.

  • Colonial (Carl Slater) was excellent from start to finish.  Very communicative and detailed with his inspection and estimate.  Colonial was not the cheapest bid, but by far the most impressive in terms of knowledge and detail.  My job wasn't an easy one - one of the three roofs replaced was truly at the end of its life and also had solar panels covering one half.  Carl and his team were punctual and thorough, and completed the job on-budget, with the only overages due to dry rot damage (which he documented with pictures and discussed with me before proceeding with repairs that added to the cost of the project).  Carl also took me up onto the roof to explain what was being done and why, which I found helpful.  I will both use and recommend Colonial for any future roofing needs.

  • Mike and his team do exceptional quality work. Thats all that mattered to my wife and I. The job ended up going on longer than I had hoped, but grew to much much higher quality than I ever dreamed of. Mike showed great passion for excellence, and "doing things right" and had an incredible skill at aesthetics, color choice, and design. With his years of experience as a builder and painter he knows just about everything in this world. We were lucky to have found him and hired him.
Its very tough to trust someone with this much money at stake. As the job went along I began to trust Mike and his team more and more with design and style choices and they did not let me down. My wife and I collaborated well with Mike. Mike has a strong personality and strong opinions, so sometimes it takes a little while to agree, but its all because of his passion for making things look good.
Mike always answers the phone and is very professional to work with. He likes keeping the job site clean and nice. He always helps figure out ways to save some $ and talked me through options to cut costs.
Originally we started out with a bid for $150k on the remodel, and as we began my wife and I kept adding things, and with Mike we came up with additional costs associated, and approved them as necessary. His quality of work is so good, you just want to keep doing things with him and his team. By the end of the job we are up to near $240000, and very happy with everything.
    Framers were excellent and fast.
    Roofers were excellent and fast.
Plumbers were good and very helpful.
Electrical was done by Mike's workers, and was great. Lots of options for dimmers and under-counter lighting. :)
    Stucco came out beautiful.
Quartz/ granite countertops and showers was done beautifully - very happy.
Drywalling/ Mudding was exceptional. Very fast and very very good work.
Painting was done by Mike and his team and the color choices and work was excellent.
    Tile work was excellent.
Wrought Iron work was very nice.
