Solar Panel Installation reviews in Petaluma

installed panels but forgot to connect to grid. Two and a half years later, refuse to accept responsibility for that and have pawned it of to another company. and of course, we have no credit for those panels from PG&E cause they didn't know they were there.

We contacted Moore's to do a furnace, dryer vent cleaning and air duct inspection after receiving a mailer for a special on this service.  We knew that our furnace would need to be replaced because of its age, however Moore's didn't pressure us.  The technician gave us the facts, showed me the issues with the furnace and explained energy efficiency possibilities with a new system.  We asked to meet with a salesman to discuss our options.  Eric Rosetti came to our house and showed us all of the options we had for replacing the furnace and air conditioning options.  We were curious about solar, and Eric explained the available tax credits for solar as well as financing through CalFirst.  Although the air conditioning and solar were outside of our original budget we felt very comfortable with the level of service and the reviews that we had found for Moore's and decided to proceed.

Every interaction with Moore's was the best customer service I've ever experienced.  I met at least 10 employees from the first visit through installation until the last follow up and each person was courteous, professional and friendly to work with.  Curtis Moore (one of the owners) came out to do the walk through to determine what they would need and answer all of our questions prior to install and further explained their motto of 100% Right or 100% Free!  It is very refreshing to work with a company that projects great values and customer service throughout their entire organization.

The installation went without fail and finished one day early.  The follow up appointments were easy to schedule and Moore's was there every step of the way with instructions on next steps with the city inspector, tax information and setting up PG&E with our solar panels.  Any time I have a question all I have to do is call and they are responsive and happy to help.  I wish more companies were like this.

It was a wonderful experience. They were great to work with. They insulated the floors and the attic. They also put in a new furnace and new duct work. It was all in conjunction with the state of California and they were authorized contractors. They were just terrific. We could call them any time with questions and they were always there to help.
Our bills went down and our house was more comfortable.

In may of 2012, we decided to look at the feasability of installing a photovoltaic system to reduce our monthly expenses. We received quotes from three vendors and selected Real Goods Solar on the basis of: - proposed system: components, capacity, placement. - cost: not the low bid however very competitive. - expertise: the sales person (Mike Gallagher) has very good knowledge of PV systems and the PGand E tariff environment. The sales process was professional and the company was very sensitive to concerns with esthetics, return on investment (mine) and allowances for future expansion. I appreciated the Real Goods Solar ethos and expertise and believe they have the resources required to honor a 25 year warrantee.
The installation process went very smoothly. All appointments were kept on-time and any communications were responded to promptly and satisfactorily. Real Goods Solar handled all of the permit applications and inspections. The panels and related hardware were installed without issue and as specified. The workmanship was done neatly and the installers and electrician cleaned up the site afterwards. A minor issue is the AC lines in the attic; this could have been done neater and routed out of the way. This is not visible and does not affect the system. The electrician minimized the amount of visible electrical conduit as requested.
At the time of this writing, the system has been running for two weeks without issue and has been generating power at the levels expected. PGand E has yet to replace the meter and change us over to Time-Of-Use/ Net Energy Metering. It has not rained since the installation.
Overall, I have been very happy withReal Goods Solar and have appreciated their professionalism and enthusiasm.

We met an REC salesman at our local Costco, in Novato, California.  We called and made an appointment, to find what it would take to install a system on our Petaluma, Ca. home.   REC showed up on time, had all information we wanted, were polite and easy to work with.  Prior to signing the contract, I asked for copies of the warranties so I could review them in advance and received them the same day.  We gave them 2 years worth of our PG&E bills and let them know we wanted to cover as close to 100% of our energy usage as possible.   They quoted the price and we signed the contract.

They sent another man out within a few days to measure our roof and to discover where we might have problems with shading that would effect the amount of energy each panel produced.

The office e-mailed us a design to fit the panels on our roof, however, as it is the front of our house, my wife was picky and wanted a very clean design.  REC gave us no problem as they redesigned the system in a way that would look nice, however, it would require a variance from the city.   The did not charge us extra for the re-design or for obtaining the variance.

We had a problem with our electrical panel and had called an electrician who said the replacement would be about $2,000.00 .  I called REC to discuss the problem and they said they could do the work if we liked.  It seemed smoother that way, so we had the work all done together, but REC charged us a significantly lower amount to do the work.

Work began not long after they obtained the permits and variance.  The workers were always on time, efficient, respectful, never left a mess and were quite easy to have working around our home.  Tim, who ran the project, was a gem !  We felt very comfortable with his work and he was always willing to answer our questions as the project went along.

Included with the purchase was an on-line monitoring system which tells us how much energy each panel is producing and keeps track of all that has been produced.  We really like watching this to see how much energy we are making.  I can even pull it up on my Smart phone !  This system also lets us see if any individual panel is having a problem, so we can get it fixed immediately and not have to purchase energy from PG&E.   We haven't had any problems, but it's nice to know we could spot it quickly and easily if we ever do.

I want to note that the price quoted above was for the solar installation and the electrical panel, and used the Kyocera and Enphase products which we have found have very good reputation for being superior products.   The price quoted above is not reduced by the 30% rebate from the federal government, the approx. $2,000.00 rebate from PG& E, the $500.00 Costco card they gave us, or the 2% rebate we will receive from Costco on the panels or the 1% rebate we will get from using our American Express cards to buy the panels.   With all of that included, our price was approximately $29,000.00 , not the pre rebate amount  of $43,000.00.

We have been very pleased with the services of REC Solar and would definitely recommend them.
