Very clean new office.  Nice Optometrist.  Practice associated with a good Ophthalmologist , Dr. Penrose.  Contact prices not too bad with insurance discount.  Good desk and glass fitting staff at both locations. Switched to them from my prior Optometrist of 15 years, due to a forced switch in employers vision care insurance.  Eye M.D. in Ryan Ranch and on Cass were the only well rated providers under EyeMed insurance on the Peninsula in 2015.  My old optometrist finally took EyeMed, so I switched back to him.  Otherwise I would have stayed with Sablad.  She's fine.  Both were UCB trained.

    Dr. Joseph Marchionna
I would just give him an A for everything. Everything there is good. I would give everything there an A. It's friendly. It's clean. They all seem to be pretty good. It's a small office. Usually they give me an appointment when I go for the next visit. So I know ahead of time when the next appointment is going be. Sometimes it's an appointment not just for check up because I have an issues with my eye. Sometimes I have been able to go when I had an eye problem. Something in my eye that really really hurts. They took it right out and took that out. I was able to go in. I usually have my glasses and I can call them anytime to pick them up and have them adjusted. It's all good there. That's who I use now.

I called late in the day on a Friday afternoon and they got me right in. They were very thorough and performed extensive tests. The doctor I saw was Dr. Kim and he and his entire staff were very professional and kind.

Staff was professional and exam was very thorough. I needed new lenses and updated frames but I went to another provider due to the cost for these at Vantage.

They are wonderful. He is very nice, very quiet, and very professional and he has a good bedside manner. I love him. I was referred to him by a coworker. I have been seeing him for about five years.

    Hartford, Dr. Kimberlee C.
I like her. She is really thorough. I can't imagine how she makes any money; she spends so much time with me every time I go in. She works out of 2 offices and I can't always get her when I want.

    Luong, Dr. Mary
She is a good doctor and she's got good communication skills. She is a nice lady and she is very thorough. It is easy to get an appointment with her and she does walk-ins. The office is kind of small.

I think she is fine. Very professional, very knowledgeable, and I have no complaints. Her staff is good and they were all helpful in picking frames for my daughter.

A year ago, I had cataracts removed from both eyes.  I had worn "mono-vision" contact lenses for 12 or 15 years. It's not for everyone, but definitely right for me.  I loved not being bothered with glasses.  That I was requiring reading glasses more often is what drove me to learn my cataracts needed to get removed before I could shore up the prescription for monovision.  The ophthalmologist performing the surgery, Dr. Whisler, would not even address my considering monovision, saying, "There's a lot more real estate from three feet out to infinity than from three feet in."  So the permanent lenses he surgically inserted  gave me great hawkeye vision of the stuff 300 feet away.  And I realized how much ?real estate? there is between the end of my arms and my unfocused eyes.  After the cataracts were removed, I couldn't read the face of my watch, or put on make-up or read the shampoo bottle in my hand without wearing damnable reading glasses.   When I went back for my post-op ophthalmologic visit (an additional $85 in spite of the $2600 fee paid for the cataract surgery) and complained that I couldn't read a thing without finding a pair of glasses, he was dismissive saying, "Many patients get glasses to wear all the time.  Just get used to it."  With today's technology, and the ability to insert permanent corrective lenses, why on earth would ANYONE choose to go thru surgery and still have to rely on eyeglasses forever??    I was so frustrated with these results, and told my optometrist that someday,  I'll get one of those permanent lenses removed and replaced with a mono-vision lens to free me from constantly needing eyeglasses.  She advised against that idea, but suggested one contact lens to give me mono-vision now.  I pop it in my left eye when I wake up and have not had to wear readers since she came up with that brilliant idea.  Thank heaven for my wonderful optometrist, Kim Hartford!   She fixed what Dr. Whisler broke.
