Moshe and his team was very knowledgeable and thorough in the work. He finished within the estimated work time he provided at and though we probably could’ve gotten a lower bid from someone else, we were glad to pay what we did because the job was thorough and the team finished on time without us having to incur additional cost like paying extra rent and etc. Moshe offered great design ideas and helped make the most of the space and budget we had. Thanks Precise Home Builders!!!

An outstanding job by a skilled and knowledgeable professional and his considerate and courteous crew. I was able to set this job up from another state thanks to Andy's communication skills and great staff. I was at the property for the work and was very impressed by him and his crew. They went to great lengths to keep the inside work clean and dust free, and they cleaned up each day before the left. Andy always kept me up to date on progress and was easy to work with when minor changes to the work order came up. I will definitely call Andy for any plumbing work I have and strongly recommend him for yours.

Had an outside faucet that was leaking, getting progressively worse. Called their office and they were able to come out in two days. The original plumber that was scheduled was still on a previous job, so they sent a different guy instead, and he was great. William showed up a few minutes early, fixed the faucet in no time, so I had time left on my 30 minute appointment: he replaced a toilet fill valve and then fixed small drips on two other outside faucets. Very nice and polite and efficient. Only hiccup was that when the bill came, they had the original plumber on the invoice and so I got billed for the job he was working on, not for William's work. As soon as I told them about the error, they fixed it immediately, so everything was fine.

After getting a 8+ estimates for a simple bathroom to remodel, we went with this company and it was the right choice! First, Ara Adamyan the contractor is punctual, professional and a great overall manager. He dealt with the Pasadena Permit Department, managed all the inspections and completed all of the tasks required. Second, he was the only one that provided an estimate that was reasonable for the work to be done! Third, he is the actual contractor who monitored and managed all the work. Lot's of the other companies we met with just send a salesman who is not the contractor. The sales guy works for a bunch of companies and gives you ridiculous prices. Our bathroom was a complete remodel, and we bought all of the fixtures (tile, bathtub, toilet, vanity) and just wanted the work done. Fourth, the bathroom looks great and while it took a little longer than we planned for, it was a great job. We highly recommend this company, don't waste your time with the others who just want to sell you stuff you don't need.

I recently used Preferred Home Builders to renovate my small house, and was extremely pleased with their work. I’m not sure how their prices compare to others’, but they were open about costs and warned me to expect costs associated with change orders. I interviewed other general contractors, but found only PHB both professional and personable. They were amenable to my getting other quotes for aspects of the work: I had my own workers for the shower door and painting, but otherwise used all the Preferred crews. The kitchen and bathroom needed to be completely re-worked, and Ran helped me design spaces that work beautifully and are very attractive. I had an idea of what I wanted, but he added the practical to it, and informed me of the requisites. He also planned the space on the computer (several renditions), so I could see it in 3D. He managed to keep the spaces true enough to their 1923 roots, while making them work for 21st century needs: For instance, he suggested enclosing the light and exhaust fan in the existing space above my old Wedgwood stove, so that it is unobtrusive, and the stove seems to stand on its own in its original niche. He knew I loved that setting, had obviously been thinking about it on his own, and had come up with this very practical and responsive idea. The bathroom is a tiny space, and was very eccentrically laid out by the previous owner. The new layout makes use of what little space there is efficiently, and the end result is lovely. I discovered that the wiring and plumbing needed to be completely re-done; the wiring was original to the house, and I was not comfortable with it. My only dismay with Preferred is that they did the rewiring, but did not include the re-plastering of the holes they had made, since they were not doing the painting. I am told by others that this is normal, since they were not doing the painting, but I continue to think it should have been part of the re-wiring. However, they were upfront about it, so I really can’t complain. The plumbing in the bathroom literally crumbled when it was touched, so I redid the whole house. Preferred not only handled the permits, as they did for all the construction, but kept on top of the city, so that they would do the inspection sooner than they had planned. Edoe is the project manager, and manages to put together the pieces so that they fall into place one by one, an admirable ability for an exacting task. Except for city inspections, which occasionally held things up, there was very little waiting around for the next phase of the work to get going. And the various crews were pleasant, respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. The house has many quirks, such as un-plumb walls, and Preferred made accommodations for them so that they are not noticeably askew. When I had concerns about any detail, Ran and Edoe saw that it was corrected; they wanted me to be satisfied with the results, and I am (as you might be able to tell). Recently, one of my circuit breakers tripped, and I could not get the new breaker box open. I don’t yet have my own electrician, so I called Preferred and Edoe took the time to call the electrician who had installed it, call me back, and walk me through the safety mechanism, so that I could re-engage the circuit. I didn’t feel any hesitation or reluctance from Edoe, just a quick response to the dilemma. That’s service with a genuine smile! I will use them again if I do any other work, and highly recommend them.

Eddie arrived at the scheduled time and reviewed the kitchen sink drain openings, drain pipes, and the inoperative garbage disposal. I chose to have both sink drain openings replaced with strainers and the old garbage disposal removed. Eddie provided a quote. We agreed on the price and Eddie stepped out briefly to purchase the required parts. Upon return, he removed the garbage disposal, installed two sink strainers, reconnected the tubular drains, and added a branch pipe to connect to the dishwasher. He tested the drains and showed me the result. The new strainers look sharp and with the old garbage disposal removed I have more space under the sink now.

The installation went well. Price was higher than other quotes. They were able to repair the water heater within 24 hours. They forgot to call upon arrival, but were friendly and professional otherwise. I called and left a voicemail regarding adding a water line for a refrigerator but they never called back. I'm not sure if they were too busy to call back or if they only focus on water heaters. I will definitely use them again, but only for water heaters.

It went well until I noticed that the 'rooter' (or 'snake') Mike (the service representative) was using had no root-cutting blades on the end of it. There was only the spiral end of the snake, which although partially effective in snagging roots, was not large enough to give me any confidence that most of the roots blocking our drain would be removed. When he had reeled back in his snake (having removed a handful of roots), I asked Mike whether he could run it again. He gave me a lame excuse about why that would be dangerous for his equipment. (Isn't the equipment designed to do this job?) He recommended hydro-jetting the drain for a more effective job of clearing out the tree roots. He said he could run a camera down it to show me how many roots remained (at no extra cost), and when I accepted this offer told me that he didn't have his camera with him and would be back shortly. More than an hour later he returned with his equipment, but by then our patience had run out (it was time to start dinner), and I thanked him for his help but told him that "we had seen enough" and would not require any further help. I paid him for the job at the agreed rate. I learned that I should have asked at the outset whether the snake they would be using would be fitted with blades to cut away roots. It was clear that what they were doing was "selling up"; that is, they were trying to get us to purchase a more costly service, when what we wanted (and what we asked for) was simply an effective "low-tech" drain clearing. The next day was a laundry day for us, and sure enough, our drain was backing up into the bathtub again. We called on another service provider this time, one who could tell us that he had blades on the end of his rooter.

This company is completely incompetent. Did not call before the appointment and went to the wrong house. When asked to describe the house they went to it confirmed they were in the wrong place. In addition my security camera at the front door has no record of them. Even though I called within minutes of their call saying we weren't home and they basically said tough luck you need to reschedule. NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE!

I had my HVAC system replaced along with new insulation, new bathroom heaters, new ductwork and a new hydronic water heater. Needless to say this was a large job with a lot of moving parts. I can’t say enough good things about Building Doctors, they made my house state of the art in terms of comfort and energy efficiency. They always made my job a priority, none of that disappearing for days like I have experienced with other contractors. They were very professional, knew their stuff and made sure to leave my house as tidy as possible considering the magnitude of the work. They helped me complete the paperwork to qualify for rebates which was much appreciated. It has been 4 years since the job was completed and the system still works beautifully. I have continued with them for maintenance on the system and they have always been friendly, professional and prompt. Recently the Department of Water and Power in Pasadena came out to do an inspection of my system as part of a program they have to cut energy usage. When I told them I had used Building Doctors to install the system they commented that they have done “A lot of work with them and they are top of the line.” I couldn’t agree more.
