    Charter Cable
    I had charter replace my internet and phone. I previously had 6mbs ADSL through my phone line. Charter's internet service is 30mbs and the phone is VOIP. The phone line is clear and the internet speeds have varied from 25-31mbs so far. My previous DSL service varied from 1.5-5mbs. Charter gives a 2 hour window for a person to come out and up to a 3 hour window for the person to complete the installation. The installer missed the arrival window, by over an hour, but, called at the end of his arrival window to let me know he was running late. Everything else went okay. Connecting to the service was a little difficult as the online documentation leaves a lot to be desired (I used a cell phone connection to look at the documentation). The problem turned out to be that the devices really need to come up in a particular order. After rebooting the modem, router, and then my PC, everything worked. Charter gets points taken off for the installer not knowing in general, how to get the computers running with the service. If he would have given me a phone number to call for assistance, that would have worked for me as well. |The 1st year price is fantastic $50/mo for both and the service works well, so far. If you are not familiar with connecting modems and routers, you might want to make sure you get a phone support number before ordering the service.

    CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS
    The reason that I left was that, they don't really offer some of the other things and you have to pay extra for everything else and that would be even more than I was paying for $170 price, so I thought that they were offering very much with a high price. They offer a deal like to lower your bill for a year but they stopped doing that this year. Their rate is way too high, so I had to find another company.

    I was told by my DSL company that there was some interference on my line that was causing slow speed.  They told me to talk to the phone company to come out and see what they could do.  I checked Angie?s List first and saw that Anthony had almost a hundred positive reviews and all of the other guys weren?t even close to that.  I called him and he came out the next day
    since he was in the area.  It was 5:30PM when he headed over and he had to fight rush hour traffic (LAX to Pasadena!), AFTER BUSINESS HOURS, to look at my lines. 
    Anthony has the best attitude of customer service that I?ve ever seen.  He solves problems right the first time, uses premium equipment, and won?t stop until he has done everything he can for the customer.  His philosophy about equipment is great: he uses the best quality equipment because it lasts the longest.  In my case, he could have done an easy phone jack replacement and left, but he tested every part of my phone line through my condo complex to increase my DSL speed.  He replaced my older lines with faster connections and sealed up part of the line that may have been causing interference.  I got an excellent bump in
    speed after he was done. 
    He also talked me through each step so that I understood what he was doing and what diagnostic checks he was running.  He is very meticulous and very thorough ? he is the consummate problem-solver. He left my phone lines and wall jack in far better shape than when he arrived.
    Despite being after business hours and despite the fact that he was missing his dinner, he only charged me for his time, not for his supplies. 
    I would absolutely have him out again if I ever have any problems.  He would be my first call and I hope you give him a call ? he is absolutely the best.

    He unplugged everything from all jacks + then did his detective work @ the box outside.  He took a long time, did a thorough job unlike anyone before him, + had the knowledge to patiently eliminate the faulty wires.  Without this patience, our problem would never have been corrected.

    We are having major kitchen and bath renovations on our house. In the process of the work in the walls and attic our phone line went dead.  Even worse, we use DSL for our internet so we were without that too. The electrician on our reno said he didn't do low volage/phone lines and I REALLY didn't want to call At&t repair having had a bad experience with them before.  I had no idea who to call- checked angies' list and phone jack medic seemed just the ticket! I called and discussed the problem. I had realized by this point that I didn't just want the old jacks fixed- I wanted jacks in different places.  On the day of the appointment, he called before the time and let me know he was running late so I wouldn't be sitting around waiting. Once he arrived he got to work with an assistant (he had to run the wiring through the attic and it was one of our really hot days).  We have vaulted celings, so our attic has odd angles and narrow spots that they had to run the wire through- not an easy space in awful heat but they didn't complain. We discussed where I wanted the jacks and he kept me informed at every step. One location had to be shifted a couple of feet horizontally because of electrical wiring across the studs so he confirmed it was ok before proceeding. He was very careful to line the jack up with the other nearby outlets so it would look nice. He was also careful to clean up the mess from where the drywall was sawed.  Previously we could not use the phone line in our office for our DSL, presumably poor wiring, the modem was in a bedroom. Now our modem is in the office where it belongs and the DSL runs so much better-our down load speeds improved! I am actually glad our phone lines got cut in the reno or I probably would not have bothered to look into new phone lines! On the other hand, his work is so neat that I would not be concerned about having him work on your nice house- no drywall patching or repair needed.

    THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD. IT WAS A TOUGH START WITH ALL THE SET UP COST. BUT ONCE WE GOT TO THE REGULAR MONTHLY BILL THE PRICE WAS GREAT. WE HAVE 18 LINES WITH TWO FAX LINES AND THE PRICE IS AROUND THAT AMOUNT THAT YOU SEE.

    They are adequate I guess. The line does go down for reasons unknown. The DSL modem is ok. The first modem broke within a year and a half.
