    MF Construction & Design Inc
Mike Mamen called back within the hour. Next day I showed him the problems with my 90-year-old garage's roof and wiring. He tell me that existing 2x4 rafters could be sistered rather than replaced with 2x12. Additional 2x6 tie beams across garage. He recommended all new shingles, garage door, side door, window, lights, and outlets. Exterior paint on stucco and wood trim. Mike recommended replacing the house 100A electric service panel with 200A, in addition to trenching a conduit between house and garage. He also recommended grading behind the garage to route water away from its foundation. Also, adding gutters and downspouts to both the garage and house. Later we discovered that the house's facia needed to be replaced. He drove me to two current job sites, introduced his crew, and showed the work being done. Mike is knowledgable, direct, friendly, and talkative. Listens to my concerns and ideas, then presents options and his recommendations. Responds to later questions and text messages. Knows local building codes and permitting process. Works by the book -- written contract proposals describe the job and materials. Flexible in handling changes and unexpected glitches. Does minor tasks gratis. Personally attends inspections. Likewise, foreman and electrician Luis is friendly and competent. I am pleased with the competence and results of MF Construction and Design. The entire job took about seven weeks. It was more expensive than I would have thought. OTOH I did not get other bids.

    O'Malley Construction Co
Randy scheduled this small job immediately because he had a cancellation the next day. He listened carefully initially and consulted later along the way. He knew what he was doing and educated me on the pluses and minuses of different materials and methods. He suggested the idea of replacing the entire gate rather than only the rotted post, and I liked the idea. He and his assistant worked hard, his pricing was reasonable, and I enjoyed getting to know them. Like most others, I plan to call him again, including for small jobs. Thanks, Randy!

    Spectacular Trim
Paul did an excellent job with our crown moulding in our bedroom and study. He also gave us great advice about what type of crown moulding to choose from - because honestly I haven't a clue about the different styles ! Anyhow, Paul made sure that what was selected would match the rest of the crown moulding in our home. His work was exquisite and perfect. I am extremely glad that I hired him and gave him the business. I highly recommend Paul for his work.

    ARMSCRAFT CONSTRUCTION
Excellent contractor. Edgar is responsive, professional, and great at finding solutions for the little surprises that pop up whenever you're remodeling -- especially with an older house. His team is highly skilled, hard-working and diligent. They finished this project faster than I expected and did a great job cleaning up. Terrific experience. I will be calling Edgar for next my project.

    DC Professional Home Services
Dave did a great job remodeling existing wood shutters to fit new windows.  He repainted the shutters to match the paint color of the new windows' frames.  He went out of his way to be sure that the paint color matched.  He even repainted the shutters to have the color match.  He was very professional, making sure that the job was done right.  He is very detail oriented.  He did a great job on this tedious, demanding project.  I will definitely hire again.

    • Repair was done in two sessions.  First session was to fill rotted wood area with epoxy.  Second session was two days later when the epoxy was sanded and sculpted as required to match existing wood areas.  This project was an Angies Deal for 4 hours work for $149 plus materials.  Miquel, the contractor, met with me the week before to review these projects and give me his professional opinion on the best solution.  He and his workers were very professional and efficient.  Miquel was there the first day to get his workers started and to let me know the sequence of events in doing these repairs.  He returned the second day of the project to make sure all was to my satisfaction.  I am a satisfied customer and would recommend him to others.

    D R Bradford Construction Company
Mr Bradford arrived a few minutes earlier than we had planned (7AM), but I was happy to start work a few minutes early also. Work proceeded rapidly: the old windows were soon removed, and Dennis was flexible enough to allow me (the owner) to suggest corrections in the positioning of the new windows, and changes in the way we fitted the windows to the openings before they were nailed in their final positions. Because I had decided to complete the installation of the window trim and surrounding shingle siding myself (and to keep the cost of his services at a very affordable level), I also performed most of the clean-up, and we had completed the job in less than a full day, and in time for me to pick up my daughter at school that afternoon. Mr Bradford acted in a courteous and respectful (professional) manner, and I also appreciated his carpentry expertise and the many specialized tools he brought to the job.

    Construction Masters
During the estimating process, Tom took his time to understand our style. We asked for a more detailed estimate and Tom gladly obliged. The other contractors generally spent less time with us, and we felt Tom and Construction Masters would be the best fit for us.

During the project, Tom helped us make choices that got us what we wanted and also kept us on budget. He got us a great price on the tile and granite, and helped with the selection. He even found the beautiful glass tile that became our backsplash!

Remodeling is never perfect: we've done several other remodeling projects of roughly similar scope and we found Tom and Moshe to be very responsive when the inevitable surprises occurred. it's hard to ask for more than that. In addition, they beat their time line by nearly two weeks, which we really appreciated (you can only eat so much take-out 3 x daily).
We're voting with our dollars: Construction Masters is remodeling our main bathroom and 2 closets as we write this review. More later.

    BMO Kitchen & Bath Renovations
    We contracted with Mike,
the owner of BMO, to do a complete renovation of our master bathroom and to do a significant amount of work in our kitchen.  Mike was fantastic to work with, was exceedingly professional, did amazing quality work, was very competitive in his pricing, and always met his commitments.  We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs work on their house and I can't imagine working with anyone else on our house.  If you're looking for a professional contractor, Mike is the perfect choice.
We recently bought a 1950's cape cod two-story house.  It was well cared for but the bathroom and kitchen were both vintage and needed a refresh.  When we first spoke with Mike, he gave us a rough idea of what it would cost.  He charges $150 for a detailed estimate, which was well worth the cost and he'll credit it back if you decide to hire him.  That estimate proved to be invaluable because it allowed us to tailor the work to be done, easily identify the major cost drivers, and provided a convenient way to track project progress.
Mike's estimate was both reasonable and less expensive than bids we had gotten from other contractors. He was willing to work with us on the scope of the job so that we stayed within our cost target and was very flexible in adjusting the designs to suite our needs.  It was very unusual how willing he was to partner with us on the project and he did not object to us doing some of the work ourselves.  He acted as both our general contractor and project consultant--a very unusual but indispensable combination.
The quality of his work is top notch.  Mike prides himself on doing the work correctly and was quick to correct or advise us on any problems he saw.  He has a deep pool of trusted folks he works with in the trades, all of which did great work.  In the end, Mike converted our single shower/tub into a completely new shower and separate drop in tub with a tile surround.  He re-did all of the plumbing, including repairs to a drain pipe when he discovered a major crack.  In the kitchen, he did most of the renovation, which included skim-coating all the walls, fixing the plumbing, installing the cabinets and flooring, and took care of all the appliances.  He never took a shortcut, even if that meant working late on a Saturday to finish the job.  While he wants it to be done correctly, he's very flexible and was willing to work with us on many occasions to find a workable solution.
Besides his attention to detail and quality work, Mike did an amazing amount of work on a very short schedule.  In less than a month, he completely renovated the bathroom, did all the kitchen work, handled multiple change orders, and took care of multiple repairs that the house needed. He was extremely responsive to our phone calls, e-mails, and text messages.  He always showed up when promised and had his crew ready to go at every step of the project.

    Orvis Construction
The guy really cares about what he leaves the customer with when the job is done. We had a materials vendor sell us some problematic and quot;goodsand quot; that created problems once James installed - instead of blaming the vendor, he came back and worked to resolve the problem at no extra charge until it was fixed. Wow! When does that ever happen?
