asked me questions about my "injury," took X-rays, and started a course of treatment using an anti-inflammatory supplement, heat, electrical stimulation (TENS), ultrasound, and adjustments. He actually stayed away from adjusting my neck for awhile. He told me to stop the yoga and ballet until I was "more stable." He had me put a lift in one of my shoes because one of my hips was higher than the other which was making my back move out of alignment. He taught me how to walk properly (I actually walk very one-sided) and had me start walking for exercise. He gave me a list of exercises for strengthening my neck muscles, and I do them twice a day. He also recommended I swim (but I can't stand cold water so I haven't). He had me bring in my pillow--turns out is was bad for my neck and had me replace it with a cervical pillow (much better). He came out to my car and adjusted the seat because my neck really seemed to act up when I drove. He recommended reading a book that he knew of to help me relax since tension of any kind was very irritating to my neck. At first the treatment was every day, then 3 times a week, then 2 times a week, then once a week, and now after two months, it's going to be 2-1/2 weeks before the next treatment, which are adjustments only at this point. Things were very difficult at first and he offered to refer me to a neurologist if I needed something stronger for pain. I thought about asking during the first two weeks of treatment, but I did get better and got over that. He always told me what to expect with respect to symptoms and signs of improvement, and he was right. He's very chatty, which surprised me in a doctor. He has been in practice for 30 years, and really seems to know his stuff. In my case, there was a lot I had to do on my end to get better, but he is very good at giving directions and finding out the details that might be getting things out of line. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but am much more satisfied, I think, than I would have been if I had gone to my regular MD for this ailment (whom I'm sure would have started with an MRI and drugs--very expensive!). My neck pain is over now, but I can feel that the muscle strength still isn't all it should be, and I keep following Dr.
