Bathtub Refinishing reviews in Palo Alto

  • The tile grout looks very good.  Unfortunately the tile itself has been cleaned too many times by our tenants with bleach products and has lost it shine.  That is not the fault of the Grout Doctor though.  The silicon caulk looks great.  The shower doors are much much better than before he started.  However there is still a small amount of calcium which shows.  The glass doesn't have that new look which is what I was hoping for.  Brendan did warn me that it might not look new again because of the buildup of calcium over the last 10 months.  I think he did the best he could and it is certainly quite acceptable looking.

  • I would not recommend them because the grout keeps falling out. He came 2-3 times to re-grout but you have to really know what you are doing and get way down in the grout crack, but this is pretty much like top layer and it all keeps falling out. The bathtub had a lot of black spots and was in really bad shape, and they advertised that it would look like new, but he has skipped a lot of the black spots and he had to come in again.

  • I'm in the process of completely re-doing my tiny bathroom and had this done in conjunction with a complete bathroom remodel. I considered replacing the tub, but the new tubs aren't as deep as the old ones. I found the vendor on Angie's List and liked the comments. I called the company and got a quote and determined that I would use Miracle Method as soon as my tiler was finished. I asked how long it would take to schedule and was told a few days, usually. The tub only had minor nicks, until a worker dropped a hammer and created a HUGE dent and nick (approx 2" by 4'). He felt awful about it and said that he would pay if there was an extra charge for repairing such a large nick. We called Miracle Method and they said that was no problem and there would be no additional charge. When I called back to schedule, I made the mistake of waiting until Monday afternoon, so had to wait 10 days before they could come and do the work. Part of the problem was that my schedule prevented them from coming the two times that were available that week. The owner said if I had called in the morning, I could have had the time I wanted. The appointment was scheduled for the following Thursday between 9-10, Friday between 12-2, and Saturday between 11-1, if needed. On the day of the work, Javier showed up in the time slot and got right to work. The initial work (fixing all the nicks and applying the first coat) only took a 2.5 hours. He then left and came back Friday, also within the given slot. I had decided that I wanted a second coat because the tub was so old, so he sanded and then applied the second coat and was gone within an hour or so. On Saturday, he came back and finished up in about three hours. I am a VERY picky person and found a few minor flaws in the buffing job so he redid it with no complaint and the tub now looks perfect. Even around the drain, which was masked, not removed, looks great. Javier was professional, patient, and an excellent worker.

  • A half day was spent in the preparation. The next day he arrived late in the day and in 2 hours applied the finishes. I stayed out of the room for a week to be sure it was dry and cured. The bathroom was then used and we discovered that any water that stayed on the tub bleached out the color and that the finish had a sandy feel. Anything that was left on the countertop left an indentation in the finish and if any water stayed on it the finish changed from shiny to matte. There were several bubbles on the countertop and those peeled off to reveal a black color underneath. He had a 5 year guarantee on the tub and 1 year on the countertop. I wrote 2 letters to his PO box and then called twice, once talking to him and once leaving a message. He did not respond to my letters or phone encounters. The man who redid the tub took a lot longer to do the job and said that some ingredient must have been left out. The man who replaced the sink had the same comment.

  • Have had to return twice to re-do their work on kitchen sink. Not impressed. When asked what the technician was going to do differently on the second re-visit, was told that the tech would simply 'be more careful'. Not the answer I was looking for. Not terribly prompt about quick appts for re-do of their previous work, had to wait up to a week. They simply haven't done very high quality work and seem indifferent to problems with their previous work.

  • Arrived on time, took the time to protect the area around the tub, did his job, left after giving information on curing time and advice on protecting the finish.
