  • At the referral of a friend, we contacted Evolve Construction to discuss a complete kitchen upgrade in our home. From the start, we found the project manager to be friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. He was always very patient in working with us and helpful in his advice on design ideas. Never once did we feel rushed or that he was pushing for our business. Evolve's crew is also fantastic, friendly, hardworking, and professional. We found the cost and time frame of the project both to be very reasonable. We are thrilled with our beautiful new kitchen! Thank you Evolve Construction.

  • I am more than happy to provide a reference for Evolve Construction. I have been very impressed with Evolve's team professionalism and their desire to make sure we are pleased with all the details of the work, which I greatly appreciate. The price was fair and the results always impressed us. Thank you Evolve!

  • Great company and nice work. Ben with additional of 2 workers replaced the floor and installed new carpet at my house. They worked clean and they made sure to not spread all over the house but to work area by area. This allowed me to still be able to use the space at the house. Ben was the person that was communicate with me from start to finish and he made sure that I will be happy with the work. I highly recommend this company and Ben specially.

  • Very good. Here are the details: called a number of companies that do sump pump work. Only these guys and another vinyl sheeting company came to the site. I chose these guys because their upsell wasn't as strong and I appreciated that. Our crawl space has a lot of ducting and not much space to crawl. They removed dirt, installed the plastic barrier and then the vinyl (?) sheeting. Epoxied it to the house. Finished as expected. Once they left, I went under the house and was very happy with the install  - the points of attachment and fastening were strong and numerous. I was able to get around easily. The best part is the house now is smell free. I started by wanting a sump pump and ended with something altogether different, but I think my initial idea was bringing a garden hose to a forest fire. This is the way to go.

  • My wife and I recently purchased a house and the inspection report revealed a number of questionable areas on the foundation.  After having sales reps from other Foundation companies come look at the house and tell us the foundation was in perfect shape, Everlast construction produced an estimate revealing that a large portion of the perimeter beam supporting the house was completely rotten!!! How could other companies miss this?
One thing that really stood out to me about Everlast construction is they were under the house for over 30-minutes, whereas the other companies entire estimate lasted only 10-minutes.  After the evaluation they sat down with us and we looked at a diagram of our foundation with photos of the rotten perimeter beams.  He was able to explain to us in simple terms what was going on with the foundation and what the process would look like to make the repairs. Explaining all the things to expect so there would be no 'surprises' during the work and leveling process. We received a written estimate by email later that same day complete with the diagram and photos, which we were able to use to negotiate the price of our house down saving us $$$$'s during the option period.
After researching all the companies we came to find that Everlast construction is known for their custom-built steel piers that offer more support than all the other company's old style concrete piers.  After the work was complete, the owner of the company invited me to crawl under the house with him and see what they had done. The attention to detail was clear. Even to the untrained eye, it is evident that Everlast construction is living up to their name.  At one point, he handed me a chunk of the previous perimeter beam which literally crumbled in my hand.  I am shocked that other companies didn't catch anything so critical and obvious.
Thank you Everlast for your great customer service, attention to detail and superior product. I would gladly recommend you to anyone in need of Foundation repair.

  • Nathan Weizmann, Project Manager for Goodfellas, brought together a team of professionals for our construction phase. ?We had the work I wanted done (remove skylight, repair roof, install new windows and ceiling fans) and we had the work that the City wanted done (foundation bolts, shear walls, re-wiring). ?The roofers were great - they came in and took out the skylight, repaired the water damaged plywood and installed the new roof in less than a day. ?They cleaned up so well, it was tough for me to tell that they had even been there. ?New bolts were installed and had to be independently tested - this work and inspection was scheduled and done without any input needed from me, a good thing. ?The shear walls and re-wiring also all passed inspection the first time. ?The installation of the windows and the ceiling fans were the only disappointment of the project. ?I really wanted the windows to be aligned and symmetrical and the fans to be aligned with the windows and thought I had been very specific and thorough on these points. ?I received a lot of head nods from Nathan's construction crew, but now I realize what I think is aligned and symmetrical is different than what they think. ?Overall, the entire construction phase took ~5 weeks (01/07 - 02/12) and came in at budget - phenomenal.

  • 25 years at this house and in wet winters we would have a damp smell coming up from the crawlspace. Rats were out of control too. We had sump pumps all around the house. Always cleaning or replacing or re-setting GFI outlets. I did it all myself. Finally I called his company to replace some sump pumps. Estimator came out and said they don't do that. They encapsulate the crawlspace. I said what about the pumps? He said it won't matter any more. I went for it.
They just left and couldn't wait to get underneath and look. I am very pleased with the workmanship. If you look at the photos (hey angie can I post photos?), they fastened this 20mil reinforced plastic sheeting to the sides of the foundation using rivets. Not a bit of dirt or debris to be seen. The crew was very professional. Very polite, lots of drop clothes to protect the floors. Their workmanship was very good. If they were my crew, I would be very pleased.
Just a word of caution - not a deal breaker but...the first day required a lot of dirt work. Invariably the house became dusty. I would have put painters tarp over couches and other soft surfaces. Second, don't be surprised to have some smell of epoxy - the material they use to glue the sheets together. It goes away in a day. It's part of the install which makes me happy they use it. So far I'm very happy with the job.

  • Rafael Gamez, the general contractor, is absolutely first-rate. Personable, reliable, reasonable, professional regarding all types of home remodeling, repair, roofing, and interior and exterior painting for our small 100+ yr. old Georgetown house.
Rafael formerly operated under the name of his brother, Omar Construction (also rated separately in 2012).
His team is extremely professional and timely. They show up promptly, even work nights and weekends to finish jobs on time.
Overall our new kitchen, using IKEA cabinets, required extensive demo work and careful refitting, customization of cabinets, crown molding, trim, etc.  It's a masterpiece, admired by family, friends, neighbors.
And it was done for MUCH less than IKEA's own installers quoted for the job.
Subsequently, facing slow leaking, seepage in walls at exterior rear corner of house--from basement to roof--we had Rafael repair and resurface our roof, repoint all exterior brick work where leaking was observed, waterproof and repaint entire house and front trim. When this work failed to stop water seepage, Rafael removed interior plaster, repaired and repointed interior brick walls where seepage was still observed, plastered with waterproof cements, replastered and repainted interior walls.  He was tireless and meticulous in following up to measure moisture content of walls and ensure all seepage was stopped--ultimately solving a problem that had plagued previous owners of the house for decades and which no other contractor had been able to solve.
We also had Rafael's team install attic access folding stairway and insulate and install flooring in our attic crawl space.
His team also built custom cabinets to match our IKEA kitchen for our washer dryer, a job that, due to age and tight spaces of our old house, proved more difficult than planned.  Rafael had his craftsmen return several times to get the job done right, tireless until we were completely satisfied with the result. Regardless of extra time required, he honored his original price.
All jobs, plus other odds and ends, were done extremely well and at reasonable prices over a period of several years. He has good men who he treats well and who like working for him. They always seal off working areas and clean up after every day's work and at the end of any job.  His sister also provides total housecleaning services when required after particularly dirty or dusty jobs.
He has done major total home remodeling, completely gutting interiors, building additions, etc., for other clients in Washington, DC and suburban Virginia and Maryland.

  • We previously had a 65 year-old Elm tree removed from our back yard. The tree removal firm originally indicated that they did not do stump removal work, so I looked up landscaping services in recent San Jose, CA, Angie's list publications and selected Johnson Tree Service because they explicitly indicated that they did this kind of work, as well as tree trimming.  I also located two other firms and requested quotes from them.  I selected Johnson Tree Services after talking with each firm.
I talked with one of the owners, Kevin, who promptly visited within a day or so to see the work to be done.  He gave me a verbal  quote on the spot and immediately emailed me a written copy via email from his iPad.  I mentioned that I found his name and an ad for his firm on Angie's List and he promptly offered the 10% discount mentioned in the ad.  We arranged a time when he could return with his stump grinding machine.

He arrived at the agreed time and date.  He came with an assistant to help.   The truck and equipment were clean and in good condition. It appeared well maintained and cared-for.  The work was professionally done and completed within a few hours. I paid him the agreed amount and he emailed me an invoice marked "paid".   Kevin was careful to protect the surrounding landscaping as he positioned his machine for the work.  He also was careful to shield our patio windows from the flying wood chips that the grinding machine produces as it chews-away the stump.
This is a good company and I would certianly use them again, when the need arises.  I highly recommend them.

  • I found them more responsive when they were smaller. Now they are to big of a company. When we used them in 1992, the owner came because I wanted to talk with them. Now, they are just to big. They know the business really well.
