Auto Service reviews in Palm Springs

    Disappointing experience, especially after I read the glowing Angies List reviews. Took twice as long as time estimate, charged $200 more than original $1000 estimate, and would not honor Angies List discount coupon. And the company that Hilton hired to ship my car, Rick & Faye Trucking of Southampton PA, has a terrible (and well deserved) Better Business Bureau rating.

    There is hardly ever anything that goes wrong with my car. So the only time I take it there is like if they have something recalled on the car or an oil change, that's it. I always have them do an oil change before we go on vacation. I went there several time for the recalls but those are free so it didn't cost me anything. They are pretty good, I like them. I have never had bad service there, so they are always very respectful, they are punctual, and if I ask them to do something on my car, charge or not charged, they always do it right, so I have no complaints.Trust me, if I have a complaint, I would let them know right away. Oh, no. I tell them I just want an oil change and they come back and say, because I have that happen to me so many times before. You know, if you go to a place where, like you go have your car services. You go in there just for oil change and they tell you that your spark plug is wrong, I mean it shot, they need to fix it..I ask them 'how can that be? I just had it fixed". They think, because I'm a  women I don't know s**t. I say, I just want oil change, that's what I'm her for. If I need my air filter fixed I'll let you know. I say you should know that because. you can caught them lying too. I mean I go to a mechanic, I mean the same mechanic every time, same place. and then they tell you, well your paying, like your air filter is really bad and  needs to be changed. And I say" didn't you just change it about like 3 months ago? If it doesn't look like it, well then  you better change it now because I, said you charged me for it the last time. You can caught them in a lie. Jessup is very good. I like them, I never had bad experience with them. The same thing when you buy a car there, they don't beat around a bush when you try to by a car. I just say I need a car, I want this color, I want this model and I want this and I want that and that's it.

    This guy is great.  I needed a special hose and he said if I go get it at the dealer he will install it for free... as my truck would probably not pass... so I did it, he put it on... I told him to charge me an additional $20 for doing this... and he said he no... it was only 10 minutes of his time.  Just nice to see someone do this... a pleasure.
    The truck passed with flying colors !!

    They are very reliable, responsible and they are not going to gouge me. I just deal with the manager Glenn. He is great. He knows me, knows my husband and knows our vehicle. It’s really helpful when different issues come up. He saves us money and takes us the right route we should go to. He says don’t do this and we should do this. It has worked out really good for us pocket wise and for our vehicle. We go in there and they usually fit me in. I always go there.

    Another shop had given a price of 180$ to change the belt so I was very please with price and the service was quick, about 40 minutes and very friendly. Would tell everybody to go there a good mechanic is very hard to find and one and when you do you expect to be charged a arm and a leg this place is the best.

    I went in early in the morning for an oil change and a transmission flush and i was in and out in 1 hour. This is great because it has taken me up to 3 hours for the same service and some other dealerships

    Fine. They quickly got my Audi in and took care of the job, as they always do. Foreign Affairs is a good place to take any foreign car. They are very knowledgeable and have taken good care of me for many years.

    I am very surprised to find that this mechanic has no reviews. I have used his services for more than two years and have recommended him to my friends. He has so many loyal customers I'm always afraid he'll be too busy to get me in, but that's never happened. He drained and vacuumed the AC system today, recharged the freon and checked the performance with a computerized tester. (Living in the desert, I know how very important it is to keep the AC in shape to avoid damaging your compressor). Last year, he changed my oil from standard to synthetic and I was able to go 6,000 miles before a change. He performed my 100,000 mile service and charged me at least 20% less than the lowest estimate from other shops. He also explains how things work which is unusual for a woman customer to get from a mechanic. I was concerned about my shocks - my RSX is low to the ground - and Oudi described the whole shock absorber system to me, drawing the parts and how they fit together, so I understand that I won't need to replace "parts" of the system when it goes, but the entire system and my car doesn't need that yet. (I have actually had more than one guy tell me I need to replace the springs on my Shocks.)
    I feel very fortunate to have a trustworthy professional as my personal mechanic.

    Terrible ! ! ! They do not care about your time issues at all.

    Short version: I took my car in for a 2 hour brake and power fluid flush and they ended up keeping my car for five days and then they yelled and swore at me when I complained about it and was told I had a personality disorder . Never again! ! !

    Long version: I used this auto repair shop in Jan 2014 for and quot;engine lightand quot; diagnostics and repair for my 2001 vehicle. I had a 10 a.m. appointment and I did not get out of there on that date until 5 p.m. I was never offered a ride anywhere, nor given a call. I had business in the area, so I walked 2 miles to get it taken care of and came back at 1 p.m. The car was just starting to be worked on at that time. I waited in the waiting room and was offered coffee and ice cream. At 3:30 I was falling asleep in my chair and the owner Tony finally came out and said I could talk with the mechanic, Robert. Keep in mind, that during this time, I had to listen to various uncomfortable office conversations amongst Tony and the office girls. They went on and on about ordering lunch, what restaurants they liked and so forth. When I spoke to Robert, I was impressed with his detailed examination of the auto and his recommendations for future service. I told Robert that I understood that this initial visit could take awhile, and he fixed the engine light exhaust problem and I was provided with written estimates of suggested brake and power steering flush (among other items). I got out of the repair shop around 5 p.m., after they insisted on washing my car, which I thought was a nice touch.

    I made an appointment to come back on 2/5. However, due to medical emergency of family member, I was unable to keep appointment on 2/5 and called the repair shop and spoke with Tony, who said it would be and quot;Okay to bring it in anytime on Feb. 6.and quot;

    I dropped the car off on Feb. 6 at 8:15 a.m for the flush service. I was told the car would easily be done before noon, which was good, because I had dropped my aunt off at her work and needed to pick her back up again at 1:15 p.m. I once I again had business in the area and walked to get it done that morning while I assumed my car was being serviced. I did not hear anything from the shop. At 11:30 a.m., I started walking back and gave the shop a call. Tony answered and told me car was now being worked on, but to come in and look at it. Fine. I arrived at noon. I talked with Robert the mechanic, who indicated that he was having issues with the brake flush, and had the rear brakes off. I agreed that the car probably could use new brake drums and hardware. Tony was there as well. I explained however, that I needed to pick up my aunt and that I NEEDED THE WORK DONE BEFORE 5 P.M., because I was flying out of town the next day. I was assured there would be no problem. Tony gave me a loaner vehicle to pick up my aunt at 1:00 p.m. I returned to the shop at 2:00. Once again, I basically sat in the office and listened to the girls and Tony talk about ordering food and sandwiches and a pizza came for the mechanics. I was just sitting in the background, hungry, listening to all their and quot;comfort issues.and quot;

    That is where the problems escalated. Robert, the mechanic, told me the rear brake fluid lines were giving him problems. I asked if I could have my car back and bring it back again another time. I was reassured by both Robert and Beth, the main and quot;office girland quot; that she should be able to get the parts, but maybe it would not be available until the next day. I made myself very clear that if that was the case, I would bring the car back later in the month. Once again I was promised the car would be ready that day. Robert said if worse came to worse, he could manufacture the brake fluid line and I would have my car by 5 p.m. So I sat in the office about 15 minutes. No one seemed to be calling to try to get the parts needed for the car. They were more interested in their sandwiches again. I assumed the car was going to be done at 5 p.m. I asked if I could leave and Shannon, another office girl said and quot;yes..and quot; So I went to a movie at 2:30 at nearby theater.

    When I got out of the movie at 4:35 that Thursday afternoon, I received a call from Shannon on my cell phone. She said and quot;Bad news, you car has to stay here until Monday, because we could not get the brake line parts.and quot; I became frantic -I was leaving town for the next 3 weeks, I had many things to get done before my flight left the next day. I replied, and quot;Not acceptable, please think of other solutions.and quot; Shannon stated there was nothing she could do. I once again said and quot;Not acceptable, I need better solutions.and quot; She simply stated, and quot;I can't get the part, there is nothing else to tell you.and quot; I finally was exhausted and said, and quot; Look, I told you that this is unacceptable. I am walking back to the shop, I want solutions or I just want my blanket-blank car!and quot; I hung up.

    When I got back walking to the shop, I saw Tony pull up in his vehicle. He was livid. He stated to me and quot;How dare I swear at one of his girls, he wanted an apology.and quot; He swore at me and raised his voice. I told him I did not appreciate his yelling at me. A shouting match ensured by both of us. Tony said I had a piece of s*** car and that I must have a personality disorder because he used to be a psychologist and knew what people with mental disorders were like. I could not believe I being shouted at in this manner.

    After that I told Shannon that it was mot my intent to swear at her, but that I was frustrated at the whole situation. If the car was not going to be ready, they should have told me at noon or at the very latest at 2 p.m., so I could have gotten out of there and done my other errands. They did not seem to care about my other commitments, only their shop schedule. Finally, Tony agreed to have one of his workers drive me to the hotel where I was staying. (that should have been done hours prior to that- the girls should have gotten on the phone and told me about the difficulty with getting the part for my car, instead of letting me sit there and listen to them go own about how good the sandwiches they had tasted).

    So in summary - Robert was a good mechanic, but the office staff and Tony were terrible. In my opinion, they all need to take a class on customer service, but I will NEVER, ever, use them again.

    I've used Kelly's for years for all routine maintenance and repairs for several cars, from oil changes to batteries. This last visit was for noise in front end and steering. He tightened up the steering and recommended an alignment. Unable to find anything seriously wrong in the front end and steering to fix he charged nothing! He noticed a screw in a rear tire and added enough air to get me to tire repair store (tire warranty is at another place).
