    SOD Builders
SOD is the best choice when you expect a job done correctly and timely!  I have used SOD before for gut renovation projects and had really great experiences.  This time I bought some new floor for about 850 sqft area from Home Depot thinking it will be a simple small job to install them so I didn't call SOD at first.  However, after calling multiple contractors/handyman and scheduling appointments, one even started working on removing part of the old carpet, I kept getting excuses for delays and rescheduling. After more than a month of delay and frustration, it still seemed like there is no end to when the floor was going to be done, I finally had it and called Oren to ask for help and he sent 3 people in just 2 days after I called and finished everything in 3 days.  The team came out and explain to me in detail what they planned to do, gave me ideas on how to finish the floor on some tricky parts in the kitchen and answered all my questions.  They were pleasant, polite and professional.  They kept the house clean after each day of work and touched up on all the paints that might have been scratched during the installation.  The floor was done beautifully and I learn my lesson that I should have called Oren the first place - SOD provides the same high quality and professionalism no matter how small the project is.  I will definitely keep going back to them for my future projects.

    Conklin Brothers of San Carlos
The company was responsive and easy to reach.  I had the same sales representative from the time I called asking for information, to the person who came to my home to give me an estimate.  Everything was written clearly and all my questions answered.   Their own employees came to my house to install the carpet, not a sub-contractor.  They were polite, punctual and neat, and the work done in a timely manner.  I would definitely use this company again.apr

    California Carpet
We have purchased other rugs at California Carpet and always liked the choice and service.  We went back again for our re-carpeting needs upstairs.  DJ at the San Carlos store assisted us in finding the carpet to suit our needs.  He showed up a wide variety of carpets from many price points.  We wanted a good, durable, soft and long lasting carpet.  He would have been more than happy to show and sell us carpet from their "roll room" right up to the designer section.  We didn't feel like we were steered to any particular style.  He listened to our desires and needs and explained the benefits of the various brands.  We settled on a Karastan Smartstrand cut pile.  It was dense, stain resistant and very soft feeling (which is what I really wanted).  It just felt so good to my hand and feet.  I love it!  It was quite a bit more than a similar carpet (about $15 to $20/yrd) but I can really feel the difference between the two.  To me, worth the extra expense.  They worked with us in finding a price that we were happy with and so were they.  It's a big expense and will last a long time, we felt it was worth getting a product that was exactly what we wanted and it really isn't that much more for the quality improvement.  Time will tell.

The installation was handled by their "in-house" installers.  Installation makes the difference.  The carpeting we replaced had seams showing all over the place.  When we purchased the house 8yrs ago the seams were already there and the carpet was only 4yrs old.  Again, time will tell, but this is a different type of carpet and seams shouldn't be an issue.  The installation crew actually installed with less seams than the old carpet, which is good.  They sent a three man crew and they installed in one day.  Two bedrooms, loft, three walk in closets, hallway and stairs.  Also, had to shuffle furniture between two rooms.  They showed up before the window given to me and were finished right before 6pm.  Transitions to the bathroom tile and to the third bedroom (carpet not changed) look great.  They were professional and friendly.  I saw that one stair got pulled up and redone when it was not to his liking.  They cleaned up when finished and were on their way.  Everything seems well installed to me and I have been assured that any problem that might come up in the future will be handled by California Carpet.  I don't have any reason to believe it will not.

I would definitely recommend California Carpet to anyone looking to purchase carpet.

    Conklin Bros
SERVICE & SELECTION PROCESS: The service I received in the store was excellent. My questions were answered and I did not feel pressured to choose a particular product or even to buy a product from Conklin. Many a salesperson would have become frustrated with me: I spent a great deal of time going back and forth in the store, pulling different samples down, walking on them, moving them from one place in the store to another to compare quality and colors. Choosing flooring was an important and difficult decision for me; Conklin salespeople seemed to understand this and were patient and helpful. Conklin Bros. has a vast selection of flooring. Though I had originally planned to buy hardwood for the hall floor, I was surprised at the quality and look of some of the wood-like laminate choices. Laminate has come a long way in the last few years! Again, the salespeople did not pressure me either way, answered a lot more questions I had, and gave me sound and useful advice on installation of various types of hard flooring (I installed it myself). PURCHASE: Making an appointment to have the rep come to my house to make measurements was without hassle; he was very accomodating. When he came to my house he was professional and effecient, but not rushed. Another selling point was that when I finally made my purhcase, they were thorough in calculating how much of the flooring I would need. I was working within a strict budget, and they knew this. INSTALLATION: The wait time for installation was minimal and no longer than had been estimated. When it came time to schedule the actualy installation, things could not have been easier - and of course, they called the day before to confirm the installation. The wait time for installation was minimal and no longer than had been estimated. When it came time to schedule the actualy installation, things could not have been easier - and of course, they called the day before to confirm the installation. The installers were punctual, courteous, they moved a few heavy pieces from one room to another, and left the place as clean as they left it. They were respectful: tidy and quiet throuhout the entire installation. To many, this may all sound like what any showroom should offer, and I agree. Before going to Conklin, however, I had visited a number of other flooring retailers (as well as big box stores) and I did NOT receive the respectful, professional, personal, and amiable treatment that I recevied at Conklin.
