  • No, recommendations. It's sort of a Mom and Pop operation. I don't go to them for much besides tires and brakes. They're local, and I like to use local vendors, so no I wouldn't make any recommendations for them. They're excellent, very personable, willing to answer my questions and willing to meet my needs. They made recommendations for future work. The communication is very good.

  • Westlake Smog Check Test Only Center is excellent. I found them by doing an internet search. The price was the lowest I could find anywhere in my area. The test took only about 20 minutes while I waited. The personnel were very friendly and professional. I would definitely take my care there again for the next smog check and would recommend it to others.

  • I bought my 2002 Silver Mazda Protege 5 new from Putnam Mazda in 2002. This review is not about the sales process, but their service center. Often, to keep things under warranty, it is recommended to use the company  that sold the car for certain services. Therefore, this review is relevant both to people who already own a Mazda, and also to those who might consider buying new or used vehicles from Putnam Mazda.
    Putnam Mazda is very professional and thorough. They definitely do a good job. Pine, a worker at Putnam Mazda service center, recommended that I use higher quality gasoline, since the lower quality gasoline was not being burned sufficiently and was 'gunking up' my engine a bit, which would cost money down the road. His advice was good. One of my belts was broken, which they fixed. Overall I was happy with the experience, except for the price. I paid $300 to replace the belt, and later found that my local mechanic would have done it for almost half the price. The good service is nice, and a difference of $20 or even $50 is one thing, but almost $150 for a relatively small job? I might use them again if I felt there was something that needed to be repaired that was really Mazda specific, but for most jobs, I find that they use their status as an official Mazda dealer to overcharge for their services.

  • Fast, friendly service from the service department, same as when I bought my Durango from them initially. Oil was changed and tires rotated on my SUV while I waited and transaction was very easy overall. No major work done, just routine maintenance, but it's important to go somewhere that makes a small service appt easy without taking up my whole Saturday!

  • Dave checked the van appointment upon our arrival, confirmed the estimate, gave us a warning about potential of an internal crack being accessed can result in the necessity of windshield replacement, and said he'd be done in an hour. Returned in an hour to one customer in front, then fairly quick access to pay and pick up the van. Dave was chatty and warm, and I'd use him again.

  • Very professional and fast.  I took my car in for a noise/rattle I kept hearing.  They looked everything over and everything was in working condition and functioning condition.  Also came and showed me what was causing the noise under my car.  Then they changed my oil.  I like services that take the time to explain what they are doing in a way that I can understand.

  • My overall experience with them was good.  Normally, I'm reluctant to go to dealerships, but I think they are fairly priced.  Their customer service is really good.  They have a van that will pick you up, which is very, very convenient.  They are more expensive than independent dealers, but at the same time, I think you get more service.
