Mr. Handyman serving Beverly Hills & Hollywood
We discovered (the hard way) why we needed to hire a licensed contractor like Mr. Handyman, and were glad we did. We have been using the same good independent handyman for some time. Hes pretty cheap and he does decent work, although sometimes its hard to reach him (especially when we need him to come back and fix something that didnt quite work out), and sometimes he doesnt show up because another job took longer than he expected. But we were willing to use him for a small bathroom remodel. We had called Mr. Handyman for a quote because we wanted to compare and we had used Mr. Handyman to build a deck at another address, but they were a tad bit higher priced, so we hired our regular guy. Bad idea! We started our handyman, and our neighbors werent thrilled with the noise from the work, so they called the city. Turns out that theres a state law requiring you to use a licensed contractor for any work that is over $500. We didnt know that, and we were cited by the city, as was our handyman (he knew this law). Apparently Los Angeles is cracking down on handymen who break this law. It dose us a lot of extra money we hadnt anticipated, and our handyman couldnt finish the job. So back to Mr. Handyman. These guys are a little more expensive than your average back-of-the-truck handyman, and I understand why. Theyre uniformed, drive nice vans, background check their employees, and most importantly, they are licensed. So if anything goes wrong, you have the state contractors license board to complain to. But nothing went wrong. It was a dream from start to finish. They show up on time, they never canceled, they were super duper fast, the work was stunning, the were thoroughly professional, and we are thrilled with the work. Dont make the same mistake we made by going cheap. Just call Mr. Handyman.

    Paul's Home Improvement
Paul gave us a quote, informed us when parts were available and scheduled his time with us. He was personable, informative, worked diligently, and charged us what he quoted. We loved having him help us!

    Nick's Home Repair
My husband and I moved to Oxnard in 2013 and moved into a fixer. We hired over 12 handymen to fix various problems with the house our first year. We were dissatisfied with all of them since they didn't care much about doing high quality work. They blew in and out quickly. When we called Nick, per recommendations from this website, my husband and I were delighted. Nick did a small job for us and was able to fix a stairwell when three other contractors said it couldn't be done. Nick was very creative and thinks of low cost solutions to problems. Nick does all of his own work, is cautious and careful. He's a grown-up who values a dollar. Nick respects everyone and is easy to work with. Nick is very experienced in drywall, painting, flooring, plumbing, electrical, stairs, trim, fencing, driveways and anything related to construction. Nick has a gift of figuring things out. Nick served in the Army as young man and his level of professionalism and commitment to a quality job is evident. We decided to hire Nick to do all of our renovations and we were so lucky to book him to do six months of work. Nick brought back receipts of all approved purchases and was very, very trustworthy. Nick had keys to our home and always got the job done with a smile. He told us when there were obstacles and he always offered solutions and their costs. I can't recommend Nick enough for a small or big job. BTW-Nick also appreciates a turkey sandwich at lunchtime. :)

    SES Builders inc
We are extremely satisfied with our new bathroom that was remodeled by SES builders. Eli Susan supervised this remodeling project from start to end and during the entire time of the work, he listened very well to all of our comments and visions of what we wanted to have and get in the remodeling. Each stage of the work was planned with extra thought, causes and carried out on the best way it could be. The finished remodeling by far meets all of our goals, expectations and vision! Many thanks to all the people that were part of this work and we do recommend them to anyone.

    B & S Homeowners Services
These jobs were the kind of things I have done myself in the past but I'm at the point where I don't want to deal with them (too old!). Greg was great. Great vibe, on time, fair price and no hassle! Have used a couple of handymen before and this was by far the best experience!

    Best Plumbing
He helps me with so many things. He is learning that you have to spread your things, and you have to do things other than plumbing. He told me that he has worked for Subway, and the Jewish community. He is like my son, and he talks to me that is why I know so much about him. He is good in plumbing. What I liked about him is that he comes back and double checks before he leaves, and he cleans up his mess, and that is very important. He does good as handyman and it depends on what he is doing for you. He comes dressed to work, he doesn't come in shorts and flip flops. He wears closed shoes, and he is always neat when he comes in. He has no beard, and his wife does hair, so she keeps him neatly cropped. I tell him upfront what I want and what I can pay him, but most jobs are $100 and up. I pay him more for plumbing, but if it is handyman, then it is a different thing. I don't have too many complaints about the quality of his work. He responds if I call him. I feel like it depends on what kind of job he is doing. If he is doing handyman job, and someone else calls him for a plumbing job, he will rush there. I don't like that. He is very thorough. He comes when he says he will come. He is coming next week to do some work in the backyard.

    Aylor Construction & Remodeling
These guys are all-around good! Showed up on time. Nothing ever felt rushed. Took the time to talk about this job, answer questions, check out more stuff for future jobs, then got down to work. The finished job was excellent.
    This was a terrific deal!
I am looking forward to using Aylor Construction & Remodeling again, soon.

    Richco Plumbing Inc
The Friday before Thanksgiving we discovered large puddles in our laundry room and hallway. My dad, ever the handyman, tried to find the leak but grew distraught when he realized the water was coming from inside the walls and not our washing machine. That night, not wanting to chance my dad trying to fix it or worse, a friend of a friend, I became a member of Angie's list and looked for a reputable plumber nearby open on the weekends.
I called Saturday morning and they arrived same day Saturday afternoon (I told them it wasn't a major leak). They looked everywhere for the leak, moved our washer and dryer, opened up the wall, etc. They were able to isolate it to the hot water and advised us to leave the hot water off at night when the water pressure increased. Sunday they charge double, so we opted to continue on Monday. On Moday, first thing in the morning 8AM  they brought in a specialist with the fancy audio leak detection device seen on their website, which was kinda neat. A manager came by and told us there were a few other issues, but it turned out we just needed a new water heater (ours was over 10 years old, installed by my father and not up to code) and a pressure regulator. We were quoted a bit over 5k for everything, which was around how much we thought it was going to be, so that worked out. They came back on Tuesday at 8 AM and worked all day and restored hot water by 6. Thanksgiving was saved~! Hurray~!
Service was excellent, everything was up to code. They taped down crate paper on the floors of the places they worked in, replaced the drywall, bolted everything into place, moved a bunch of heavy stuff without help--everything looked great when it was done. We're all pretty impressed and would use Richco again in the future.

    George Clark Construction

Despite this being a small job, Mr. Clarke took the pains to fit me in on the same day.  He arrived when he said he would, and his estimates concerning both cost and time to completion were accurate.  He was both professional and courteous, and the quality of his work was high.  We discussed not only the immediate, but also possible follow-up work.  Mr. Clarke was both intelligent and engaged, and he explained the options in an understandable and forthright manner.  I whole-heartedly recommend him without reservations.

    Scott Home Repair
Project completed 9/2/2015.  There were particularly difficult problems with the flooring in both bathrooms, Scott not only advised me of the problem, but showed me exactly what was causing the lifiting of the flooring, etc., being the very meticulous and professional person that he is, Scott advised that he would recommend taking the floor out to the bare bones and laying it properly, which I totally agreed with him.  Scott laid the flooring, installed new vanities, toilets, towell racks, medicine cabinets/mirrors, painted both rooms, always consulting me throughout the process.  Scott charges by the hour, so to keep costs low and make better use of his time, if there were items needed from the hardware store, Scott would write down what was needed, I'd take pictures of the needed item(s) and off I'd go to the hardware store, while Scott kept working (this process worked out very well for both of us).  Scott is a punctual person, if he was running late, he would call to advise.  I would definitely recommend Scott for any repair work, if the repair work is out of his realm of expertise, he will let you know.  I am very pleased with my bathrooms and I've already booked Scott for additional work in the next month or two.
